Just wondering. Since the GT5 release and wonder... is anyone left playing this?
I hope I'm not the only remaining survivor... crying2.gif

Posted by: Sweeper Oct 4 2008, 04:56 AM
Nope, I still got it and I still drive my R34...
However I have no intentions of getting a PS3 before the REAL GT5 is out, so it will be GT4 for some time to come.

Posted by: VTiRoj Oct 4 2008, 07:02 AM
Same deal with Sweeper. Until the real GT5 is out, I won't be rushing to buy a PS3.

I play GT4 but alot of the time only just to tune and tweak cars.

Posted by: FinToy-83 Oct 4 2008, 08:01 AM
and I still do the request cars and setups for MFT..

Posted by: Gunma's 34 Oct 6 2008, 03:43 AM
Good to hear that. I thought I'm a gonner...

Having trouble at Mission 34 - Mercedes 1 lap magic showdown...

Anyone got any Ideas or techniques on how to win there?

My last "win" was a 9"21.918, in third place. And I've been doing this for the past 2 weeks and I still can't beat the 300 SL in that SLR... crying2.gif

Gunma's 34, try taking shortcuts thru the S corners shifty2.gif

check out videos(scroll down) posted by daan(GTPLANET)

hope it helps...

Godarm, thanks for your tip. THough I've been trying that ever since I knew that in a mission, you can go off road, which was when I started it.

Finally got a 9:15"XXX something... but it is still not enough to beat that god damn Mercedes 300SL 1954!! Took me 3 hours to get it right. Crappy parts where I go a penalty where I'm just a corner away from the long straight... Anyone else got techniques to share on this? I want to get out of Nurburgring Magic race ASAP!! It's the last one left in my missions... (33/34) crying2.gif crying2.gif crying2.gif

Edit: Screw the last time I posted. It's now down to a 9:13"6XX but it still ain't enough?
Anyone knows the fast-lap-points/areas in Nurburgring?

Edit2: Cleared it! Took me long enough!... sad.gif

----NEW!----

Anyone got the BMW McLaren F1 GTR?
Where can I get it?

Posted by: duoearth Oct 16 2008, 06:18 AM
You're not the only one who is playing this game.
I 'm still playing it waiting before the real Gran Turismo 5 come out.

At this moment.
I'm deciding between getting a PS3 and XBOX 360

Anyway this some of my clip from GT4 Doing a Top speed of GT-R

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JQj7iEFtWmM

I'm planning to make more of them while GT5 is not out. grin2.gif

Posted by: Kurei Oct 16 2008, 06:58 AM
My deal's the same as Sweep and Roj, still playing, but not driving my Impreza as much, been messing around with a lot of different cars instead

I too am holding off on a PS3 purchase until GT5 is released and has been reviewed by plenty of sites before I spend the money

Posted by: RalliKai Oct 16 2008, 07:11 AM
I own a PS3 but still play GT4 here and there, testing various cars still like my S2k and Evo. DiRT has been the only next gen racing game I've been playing. Probably be that way till GT5 comes out.

Presently I am doing the 1000 miles race in the European hall... With a little twist.
I am driving a Nissan, but I am not inferior to the American cars in the race at all, in fact even though I have to go for tires every 2nd lap or every lap pending on my pace I got more traction and power than they can offer.

What am I driving? My Nissan Skyline GT-R R34 non Vspec with 400 horsepower tongue.gif
Gotta love having a modchip every now and then, however I am trying to rig the race and put the rotary Mazda 110S in 2nd place and it is turning out to be a bad day for Chevrolet and Mercedes at the moment.

Well, if we're sharing stories, figured I'd share my current status

I've been messing around with FF's recently, started with mostly Honda's, hatchback's at first, then a few others, and then I went and got a yellow Integra DC2, and as my new Av/Sig combo may hint, it's become a new favorite of mine laugh.gif

But here's the twist, the car isn't even heavily moddified, just under a moderate tune, Semi-race exhaust, stock brakes, got the controller to reduce the pressure for a more realistic feel, Stg 1 engine ported, polished, and chipped, sports clutch, 1-way clutch, Original (read Custom) suspension, softened like stock model but refined for performance, S3's in the front, S2's in the back, and a stg. 1 weight reduction

Long list, yes, but I consider it streetable and not too extreme, hence why I like it, it's a more realistic, "possible in today's economy with the right approach" build than any others I built before, and I like that world of realism

I also have a EK9, EG6 inspired by a Hot Version "My Car Challenge" Entrant, an EP3 and Euro R in the works, and at some point a Ford Focus inspired by a higher end model I saw one day with an aggressive stance

Posted by: sileighty of Usui Oct 19 2008, 06:54 PM
I've still been driving my Sileighty every now and then doing some T.As occasionally

Posted by: Jardim Oct 19 2008, 07:16 PM
I miss GT4. I need a regular def TV in order to play PS2......

Posted by: Gunma's 34 Oct 20 2008, 03:06 AM
My share on the story. Since some have...
Busy unlocking various concepts and going back to the License tests to get the secret GT4 GTR pace car... successfully, I got it...

It's a complete monster!!
Looking at the Mods... it's the hidden GT-R Z-TUNE!! I zoomed in on the lower right section of the R34's rear and I saw there "Z-Tune".
I went like OMFGBBQAOL! A GT-R34 Z-TUNE! shock.gif No wonder the rally cars can't match this even at Cathedral rocks!
Even the engine's hp says "I am hell! Fear me!!"

Recently, I just got the Viper GTS-R Concept from one of the US one-make races... chrysler I think...
It's pretty stable at the snow - in stock form. - Chamonix normal. Just need to avoid shifting it to gear 1 while drifting or it's 360 to me...
And lastly, beating the missions, I got an R89C and used it in the GT All stars. A monster at best, yet it has one weak course - DRIVING PARK TEST COURSE, Sarthe I and II and Super Speedway! Why? Rear tires easily BURN!!

Question to the guys? Do you turn off your TCS and ASM while racing? Or only on certain events?

Posted by: VTiRoj Oct 20 2008, 04:31 AM
I turn all my aids off but in some cases (R89C included) I go for a TCS of 1.

Posted by: Sweeper Oct 20 2008, 05:25 AM
I use TCS if the car is a really big power machine with a lot of torque and I cannot afford a pit or if it is a longer race...
However, 650 Hp Supra's do not fall in that catagory, even when running close gearing... My disposition for tailsliding is too extreme so a little power just helps me along tongue.gif

Posted by: BlackSubaru Oct 20 2008, 06:00 AM
i dont normally mess with those settings unless i feel they're slowing the car down.

i thinkmy ps2 was stolen, i dont remember what box i put my memory cards in , which is it what matters. thank god it didnt have a harddrive attached, then i'd be screwed like a ps3 or xbox360 owner.

but last time i played, i was saving up to get the GT-One(TSO20)

I finally bought it and have been trying to perfect it's gearing/modifications to hit speeds faster than my GT2 version could hit(undocumented 273.14mph).

im not using cheats either folk. i had some great camaro photos on that memory card for DAKMOR... and that, if >he does lose his memory card i don't think i'll play the game again but to get the Concept Iroc-Z again.<-DAKMOR

Posted by: Jardim Oct 22 2008, 12:00 AM
TSC and ASM always off. Even in the Formula Gran turismo car. With the DFP, it all comes down to controlling the car like Senna would in the 1000HP JPS Lotus, Its RAW!

Posted by: stidriver Oct 22 2008, 02:35 PM
Yes I still play GT4. I still have not pick up a PS3 and may wait intill GT5 is out before I do get one.

Posted by: duoearth Oct 23 2008, 12:07 AM
I usually go with TCS Off if my car is not too much powerful ( Race Cars).

And usually go with TCS ON on the snow too.

That doesn't actually DO anything.

Yep, still play, still suck.

Posted by: Kurei Oct 23 2008, 08:28 PM
I go with no aids, doesn't matter if it's snow driving or a 1000+HP Speed 12

Proper skill can overcome any obstacle, I even plan to turn ABS off in GT5 for some time until I have mastered driving without it

One thing I don't like about playing GT4 ?, no new car like a R35 or FD2 Civic Type R unsure.gif

In GT4's defense, those cars came out way after GT4 did. But yeah, it does get a bit boring being limited to cars made before 2004 or so. But GT5 will never get that problem thanks to online updates! biggrin.gif

At least the hard to get OTHER cars in GT4 would make things less of a drag. Not to mention the sort of system-breaking endurances like the 24 Hour Sarthe I and II, and Nurburgring races. Also the License cars in the License tests too could pose quite a challenge.

Back to Updates...

Went back to the Euro events to race in the 1000 miles challenge. What am I driving? A Hakosuka GT-R, The very first one. I max modded it, 280hp Turbo with TCS 1. Thought that I would be going on a sparring match with the Jaguar E type w/c has 250 hp... Sadly, they placed in an Alfa Guililla Sprint, like the one in the ex-D movie.
(Chinese man from movie: crying2.gif Oh, my Alfa... Oh Romeo Romeo Romeo crying2.gif )
I'm doing round 2 in a little while...

I feel really sorry for that Fiat FT500 at Nurburgring... going until 100 km/h max speed. laugh2.gif

I've only B-Specced the 1000 miles but I also lol'd at the Fiat 500. Poor little thing, my B-Spec lapped it so many times it wasn't even funny. laugh.gif

I really want to A-Spec it now. I got Half-Term holidays right now for another week and a bit too... pinch2.gif

Very different from my R34 thats for sure tongue.gif
I keep sabotaging the race for Chevrolet though, lately they got lapped by the Mazda Cosmo so it is not looking good for them.
Maybe not so strange when they have a 400 HP R34 throwing them into the pits and otherwise making a bad day come true for them tongue.gif

Yeah...are those races...REALLY 24 hours long? I love racing, but...well...yeah...kinda got a life too...

Yes the 24 hour endurance race is really 24 hours long.

Just use B-Spec mode.

Posted by: BlackSubaru Nov 5 2008, 08:20 PM
or just pause the damn game/have a friend take over like they do in real life after what, 3 and a half?

Posted by: Gunma's 34 Nov 9 2008, 06:35 PM
Leave it at x3 speed in B spec and each 24 hour race will be over in 8 hours. But 8 hours is still too long. sad.gif
Not to mention like going back every single, how's say set of 10 laps just to reset the speed, every time your car makes a pit stop. It's such a drag. Why can't they just fast forward the pit stops? Heck, like that'll happen.
laugh2.gif

Posted by: Sweeper Nov 9 2008, 07:37 PM
Damn the 1000 miles race is long.
But still, Corvette is 1 lap behind the Mazda right now although it is the start of the race, I have marked out a few spots I can hold him and the Mercedes back if I decide to spoil the race for them even further.
But most likely their tires will run out before they can catch the Mazda.

Posted by: Gunma's 34 Nov 17 2008, 05:36 PM
I have a curious question...
Has anyone tried the F1 Challenge championship match at the Extreme Events?
If so, are you really gonna use an F1 or do you have to struggle with your own car against GT4 F1 cars?

Posted by: SKYLINE_32 Jan 4 2009, 03:42 AM
Happy New Year to anyone who still plays GT4....

Recently I have decided not only to return to GT4 but also IDW Forums =) lol

Anyway, I've been working on full tuning a Tommy Kaira ZZ2 and various drift cars with funnyliy idiotic settings.

Oh and nice to see that some people came up with a challenge that limited the budget of the competitors.

Posted by: MattW Jan 4 2009, 08:43 AM
^Your sig makes no sense. Judging by your logic, I could race a clapped out Yugo, but since it's on a track, it's still a good car?

Posted by: FinToy-83 Jan 4 2009, 10:21 AM
^offtopic chatter is irrelevant. dry.gif

Posted by: SKYLINE_32 Jan 7 2009, 02:02 AM
It's a quote I modified from a game to fit into something to do with Skylines. I didn't expect all people to get it. And it probably doesn't make too much sense either lol *scratches head* That sig has been on since I left the forums

I guess I better change it...

Anyway, Fin-toy, do you remember that 911HP R34 GTR you have and posted its setup here on the forums? Well I've been testing a slightly changed version of it with nitrous and soft racing tyres. How fast have you taken it around Clubman Stage 5? I've clocked my one at around 45.8 seconds.

Posted by: Trasher_54 Jan 7 2009, 11:41 PM
I'm still playing GT4 because I still don't have the money to buy a PS3. >_<

I'm still tuning my cars in GT Mode, and I play Arcade Mode a lot since I have to test drive the other cars. happy.gif

I still happen to play GT4.

I would sometimes drive around my Trueno around the Costa de' Almafi course.
(And the Trueno I have happens to be the Suichi Shigeno Ver.)
[I don't wanna spoil who sold the Trueno to me...]

Ugggh, GT4 was such a shock to me. The physics and layout of GT3 were ingrained into me by the time I popped it in, so I had to readjust to the little nuances between them. When I did get into it fully, I don't think I got very far then anyway. laugh.gif I stopped playing for a long while, and only picked it back up recently. Worse yet, I don't have a wheel, and the only PS2 controller I have that isn't frayed wires and beat up inputs is the one with an off-axis left analog. Racing with Dpad like GT1 is alright, but >< not without the EZ-powersliding and absurd speed.

I'm at 20-some percent completeness, been abusing B-spec with fast-forward since I haven't had a lot of time to dedicate to practice for the bigger cups lately. But let's see... The best lap I see in here is a 1:22:340 on Trial Mountain with an '02 FD Spirit. Probably terrible, but best that I think I'm gonna get with dpad for now.

Posted by: PeterTWJ Jul 26 2009, 01:05 AM
I don't want to get a PlayStation 3 yet
For me, I am still playing GT4, 33%, because my previous memory card is faulty, if not i should be around 80% complete.

Currently, still tuning and tweaking car to continue the GT Mode.

Posted by: BlackSubaru Jul 31 2009, 06:42 PM
ahhh, crashed my cerbera into a wall. not good. and holy frack are the controls loose in GT1. that corvette GrandSport was all over the road.

Posted by: akira86 Aug 14 2009, 11:16 PM
ive been playing GT4 eversince it came out and no matter what i play it just to chill out and prob do an endurance race (B-spec that is) so far i only got 1 24hr race complete. Anyone else done the 24 hr races?
