So, as some of you may remember I off'd the FR-S a while back in favor of something more practical. Fortune has shown on me however, as I now have... You guessed it, another FR-S! As well as a more practical family-oriented car! This one isn't the same Lava Orange, but Firestorm Red. Yes, I did pick this up after seeing the last bit of the last episode of Initial D. That may have had a weee tiny bit of influence on my choice.

Nice score! biggrin.gif I think the new 86 looks great in red. Your practical dilemma is pretty much the only reason I didn't buy one when I went car shopping again at the start of the summer.

Now pop off those vulgar Scion badges and get some Toyota bling.

Is it just the standard model, or the Monogram Series?

Was there anything else you were considering, like a 2015 WRX or something? That one isn't a bad compromise.

I was considering a '15 WRX - However all the dealerships in the area act like selling a new WRX is similar to selling new Ferrari's, and treat them accordingly. It's just silly.

As for the badges, all of the Scion badges have come off, and will be replaced shortly. When she's all done in a month or so I'll have new pictures.

This is how she currently sits, with some dark Buddy Club JDM tails.

Those tails look great. Nice choice. Those and the TOM'S JDM tails are the best. The stock lights are kind of meh. Never liked that silly, altezza-ish Hinomaru ;p

Dealers ALWAYS want a ton of markup on WRX/WRX STis, plus give you an attitude while doing it. It's crap. I remember I walked away from a deal on a GRB in or around spring of 2011 (after the Tohoku-Kanto quake) and they were using that as an excuse to tack on 3500+ 'dealer fees'. Subaru of America are carnts.

Putting those lights on that car is just asking for trouble. Lambo lights do not belong on an entry level sport coupe. The straight line design of the light pattern does not fit with the style of the taillight itself, either. It's just confusing. Ferrari style would make more sense for this car, but I'd make the same argument that it's "trying too hard" for this kind of car.

I concur. Blacked-out lights are dumb, trying to use lambo lights on a $20,000 coupe are dumber. I see nothing wrong with badges are long as they're either Toyota or Subaru.

Should've spent that 500 on some headers instead.

To the people commenting on Lambo tails, I don't see the resemblance. Don't look like any Lambo I've seen.

Err...

Yep, that's the Aventador. A favorite amongst app developers, oil sheikhs and Chinese importers since 2011.

Well, the updates so far, with pics I'll grab tomorrow -

I dipped the wheels. I undipped the wheels because it looked like shit.

I did get the badges off. Waiting on my Toyota badges to come in.

I'm still enjoying my "lambo knock-off" tail lights. Not trying to make other people think I'm something I'm not on the road.

Got my Cobb shift knob on.

Top Speed over-pipe and down-pipe are arriving tomorrow afternoon, and going on the following day.

The majority of my budget for the FR-S has been eaten by the Jeep in preparation for snow season.

Undipped and badge-less, rocking it with the Red Sports Car Club at my office.

In regards to being stashed for winter... not yet. In the mid-west so far we haven't had even a dusting of snow. Not in MO anyways, which is rather nice as I didn't ever expect to be able to drive her clear in to December.

For the haters:

Currently looking at Innovate's SC, as it seems to have fewer issues with belts and pulleys. Gonna be a ways off, sadly. I just dumped my project budget in to the Jeep to make it snow\road\everything safe.

Here's an update with actual pictures as to where she sits right now. Take note, I did un-dip the wheels with moderate success. The areas that remain darker are due to pre-existing pitting on the rims, and my personal laziness. When I get a lift open at the shop I frequent, I'm going to clean them up the rest of the way and then dip them properly, off of the car, several coats, and then a coat or four of clear.

Hello! Your tail-lights looks exactly like the NATS Extreme 86! (Which is totally not a Lamborghini ripoff)
