Give it a few days and you'll get the prompt to update. Most importantly, it will fix the notorious infestation bug so it actually works as intended. Right now, the game considers there to be too many infestations in the area of your base by counting how many infested locations are on the entire map, which means it is next to impossible to get rid of that status at your base. It should only keep track of how many are within 500m of your base, and that's what will happen once the update comes out. Until then, just be patient. Use this thread to talk about your unique experiences with the wonderful zombie apocalypse simulator "State of Decay". It's out now for Xbox 360 in the Arcade Marketplace, and is currently being developed for PC with no release date as of yet. You have a 16km^2 playground to explore and survive in, with zombies roaming the streets, the Army patrolling and forcing people to stay indoors, and the local police forces rendered almost entirely useless thanks to their dwindling numbers. Supplies are limited and do not respawn. Vehicles are fragile and can only take so much abuse before they're unusable, and they don't come back either. You and your band of survivors are up against the odds to survive in this realized Hell. Will you make it? (I'll type more later, since I'm at work and have little time to make walls of text.) |

Got a nice sledgehammer and went to check a mechanic shop for stuff. Somehow I pulled every zombie in the area and barely escaped. Had 4 of em mauling me and somehow broke free. Was pretty tense. The base is sporting some improvements now like workbench area and some extra sleeping space. Is it just me or is that forest ranger guy a complete douche? I wanna kill him off so bad. Once he was swarmed by a zombie pack and I accidentally saved him by plowing over it with a truck. Damn! |

Keep him around for base defense, especially if you take the trucking warehouse as a home base, considering it's got chain link fence around it that he can shoot through freely. |

They have not mentioned allowing more than two players, although that could be in the pipeline for all we know. I wonder how coop will work, considering you guys all have your own character builds and weapons stockpiled. If you join somebody's game, would your stuff carry over, or are you tied to their world? Would anything you do in somebody else's game be carried back to your own game? It's tough to make that work out. |

You create a character, and it drops you into the world somewhere, without story characters. Either that or you have to have friendly people and the 2nd player just takes over someone you normally could control. Which would make more sense. I doubt they will do it, though. |

Today's events: - Jacob got a notice that Alan's sickness had progressed past the point of no return. His original fever had developed into black fever, which meant he was a goner. Jacob took him out of the confines of the church, leveled his shotgun at Alan's head, and fired. Alan died without a struggle. Searched a nearby house for anything useful and ended up with a rucksack full of food. Headed back as night fell and switched to... - Marcus headed northeast from the church in the only muscle car I had parked in the lot. Discovered a Sinclair gas station ripoff, explored, got ambushed by two hordes. Climbed a dinosaur statue for safety and called in a SWAT team for backup in order to escape. Killed 5 or 6 screamers in the process. Brought back a rucksack full of ammunition and called it a day. Switched to... - Ed went on a spree of locating missing survivors, then helped the Graeme survivor group outside of Marshall. They needed protection while building a lookout tower, and got ambushed by three waves of zombies. Nobody was seriously hurt and Ed gained trust with the Graeme group. A lot of hordes were sitting around the gate to Marshall proper, so Ed headed home after raiding a barn for a fuel tank to take back to base. Started building a bigger workshop for car repairs, and a proper sniper nest at the gate. Switched to... - Virginia was tasked with hunting a bloated zombie, so she brought a pistol and ran to the target location. Killed the bloated zombie with a single headshot through a window and proceeded to check out an infested house next door. She managed to take out a few dozen zombies by luring them outside for easier combat. Eventually got surrounded, started running to base due to a lack of healing items, and got jumped by two feral zombies. She knocked one down, but couldn't get away and was killed by the other feral. Virginia died. Switched to... - Marcus retrieved Virginia's belongings. He was still tired from earlier missions, so he went back to base immediately. Logged out for the day. |

I was doing the Memento quest as Maya and I ended up messing up the jump over the bridge... I had to continue on foot to the station and was not expecting an infestation. I was already low on health and my max stamina was already decreased because of scavenging. I somehow managed to kill all the zombies with only 1 pain killer. I was knocked down twice and almost died but I made it out alive lol. That was one of the most stressful things I ever had to go through in the game. |

On the trade mission, we got ambushed by a Big Bastard zombie, and the guy we were trading with got killed. Jacob ended up ditching the car he came in, snuck across a vast field crawling with zombies, and managed to hop in a pickup truck just outside of the vet's office to get home. Jacob was badly hurt in the skirmish with the Big Bastard, so I logged off and allowed my crew to rest up. It's gonna get ugly very soon. |

Only 3 people left. Now I spend my time setting off fireworks in the main fort attracting hordes to see how long they will last. |

It takes up 25 materials per day, which means you need a ton of material outposts, or go grab two rucksacks full of them every day. I chose the farm. There's only a road for most hordes to come in on, and they rarely attack from the fields, so I don't get a lot of horde attack warnings. Marshall is a goldmine for a lot of things, but it's a fucking madhouse at night. Ferals are everywhere. I only raid it in the daytime. Wish I could set up a base in the grocery store. |

So I decided to troll. Went to, i think its marshall, where that really strict place is setup. Decided to have the sheriff guy join me on a mission. Drove to center of town, got out, threw down some fireworks and let the zombies swarm the 2 officers with me while I derped around the fringes. Once they were sufficiently covered, I tossed some dolls and alarm clocks, jumped in the car, honked the horn a bunch and took off without them. |

Yeah it's a tough upkeep but there's a lot of industrial places around to keep my materials replenished. I scavenge a lot too so it's no biggie. It's tedious but it's totally worth it. It also helps when you just bring a car everywhere you go and just run everything over lol. The Runners are a great help too when there's multiple items you need to bring back to home base.

More NEGATIVE than a black hole Group: ADMINISTRATOR Posts: 19,345 Member No.: 12,263 Joined: Sep 12th 2005 Location: Update Profile | The problem with that kind of upkeep comes with the "limited resources" aspect of the game. You can only sustain that base for so long (a few weeks maybe) before it becomes incredibly difficult to keep the supply lines running. I am currently based at the Alamo in Marshall, with outposts surrounding it at the grocery store, fire dept, police station, and the car dealership. Hordes can't get anywhere near me, although it has the unfortunate effect of spawning a lot of unique zombies. I walked out the back gate and was immediately accosted by a feral. Also, finally got through the gates across the bridges to the north. You wouldn't believe the fun that can be had up there. |

Ed was pissed off, so I handed it to Kaleb instead. Almost bit the dust in the northern town with Marcus encountering a Feral after a LONG fight with zombies in a warehouse (read: no stamina), but managed to stave it off with a well placed pistol shot to the leg, followed by decapitation with a garden hoe. Good times. This game is brutal, and I LOVE IT. |

I keep forgetting I have that option lol. I'm just swinging away and shooting, fighting for my life. Then as soon as I kill all of them I think to myself, there was an easier way to do that....

I sent my ONE non-tired guy out to gather materials to build beds, and faced a ton of armored zombies on the way. Luckily, I found a way to bring people with me no matter what I'm doing, so there's little sense of danger anywhere I go. Even infested territory. |

There's a couple things I don't like, like not being able to suppress shotguns or being able to take people out with you legitimately, but overall it's damned solid. Bring on the updates/DLC/patches! |

Gonna start fresh instead of continuing from right before the final mission after work today. Honestly, I didn't like the ending. Too quick. Even a shot of the guys running down the road would have been adequate, but we just get a parting shot at the entrance to the road and then credits. |
