It could mean Kai was pretty new to Iro, otherwise Emperor definitely would've knew of him before. Who do you think would win between Kai and Kyoichi - would Kyoichi's pride cause him to lose as he probably will refuse to jump the gutters like Takumi. |

Seiji Iwaki, the man with the white EVO IV lost when racing Kai on Irohazaka. So Emperor did know who Kai was. After that Kai wanted to beat Kyoichi but then he went against Takumi because Takumi already beat Kyoichi.
And about Kai vs Kyoichi; If the race would be after Initial D ended Kai would probably win.

Remember when sudo said something along the lines of "this will be an interesting battle, an ex-kart racer/champion vs takumi on the iroha slopes." (or something along those lines). As for who would win...I don't think it would be an easy choice. Sudo was also competitive in autox, which makes him "master of low speed turns". But Kai does have his father's skills/tricks passed down. Sudo also knows about the inside line... he ran a "clean" race vs takumi because sudo felt he was 100% sure he could do his counter attack before the third bridge. If Sudo wanted to overtake him using the "local trick" then he could've done it earlier and there would've been no way takumi would've known to do the cutter trick. Again, I think it would be a toss up if the two battled in 3rd stage (Kai would probably win if we are talking about after 4th stage). Since they aren't the main characters that can ever lose in a battle (takumi/keisuke/ryosuke)...Both are considered high level racers with professional racing skills/experiences. I'm a big Sudo fan... and for arguments sake, his mis-firing evo would smoke the MR2 even if Kai jumped the line. |

Sudo is a very logical racer and kai ,imho, is a bit boastfull. From my vantage point. the race between takumi and Sudo is a tie . it is Sudo's pride that dictated that he lost the race. Sudo also knows the jumping line technic so it is not something that would surprise him. |
