Hi:

The AE86 finally returned to my workbench.

This weekend I managed to almost complete the scratch built rear suspension/axle.

The parts still need some refinement, and there are still lots of details to be added.

Have this + 5 unpainted 6es on their way to become Maki Kamiya's (WM) and Shiro Waru's (ID) 6es.

Yes,The window frames are going to painted black.

On another forum, it was called to my attention that the AE86 panda scheme is not correct! Both the front and rear white stripe are supposed to be in alignment with the front blinkers (and not above it). I'll try to lightly sand these and repaint it correctly.

While the AE86 is fully curing it's clear coat (so I can sand the stripes), I've started another ID car.

This time is Kenji's car. I had a Tamiya Nissan 180SX at home and decided to use it to make Kenji's car. And again it will not be an exact replica!

I have to change some bits (the front bumper being the main modification).

Here are some photos of what has been done:

There's still alot to be made on that front bumper, and I didn't like how the seats turned out, so they'll repainted (and i'll change the front seats to some others, with a sportier look).

I hope to post more soon.

Cheers

Thanks! I do it just as a hobby! I blame Initial D for starting me working with model cars (previously I only built airplane or armored vehicle models).

Here's an update on the 180sx interior.

Hey Marco wazzup, new time member and I was just looking at the models and there freaking AMAZING, so you've made me want to start the hobby. I have some questions, one where do you get your models, i've seen random sites but nothing really legit. The other is where do you get upgraded parts? Such as body kits and wheels, thanks for reading!

Hi Tofu_Dreamer:

Welcome to this hobby!
I don't know if there are model shops near the place where you live!

The ones on the city I live or near it usually have the standard stuff needed to build a model, but some stuff (like the wheels and photo-etched detail parts) I have to order online (there are many legit, honest model shops).

Regarding body kits, I've only slightly modded the kits body. I've never purchased aftermarket body kits, and can not comment on any product of that kind.

I don't know if you've ever built a scale model before. If not, search this forum, as there are threads with nice tips for starters.

Cheers

Marco Preto

Hi:

Yes, it's true. It has been a while since my last post.

I've been working on a F-86 F Sabre. I'm building it for the museum of a Portuguese Air Force base.
And I recently start sporadic collaborations with some modeling magazines which left me with even less time for my models.

I have to post some photos of the AE86. I already solved some mistakes with the paint job and am closer to completion (some work on the suspension is still needed but it's almost completed).

I hope to post more soon.

Cheers

Hey thanks for the info and I have one more question. I recently purchased the RX7 FD from TAMIYA for my first model and it didnt come with an engine, is there a place where you can get an engine to put into your model? Also does anyone know a good online website for upgraded rims?

Yes! There's a model by Tamiya with the engine (RX-7 R1 if I'm not mistaken - has a black FD on the box art - yours should have a red FD on the box art, correct?)! You can try to find if there is any one casting these engines in resin, or make one yourself, but if your starting on the hobby, I recommend that you do a couple of models SOOTB (Straight Out Of The Box) before taking more challenging projects.

I've never purchased such items from US shops. In Europe and Asia there are some.
I've purchased (online) from Hobby Link Japan, from Hiroboy.co.uk and from models4sale (these last two are from UK) and their service is equally great. I can't comment on the service of other shops, but I'm sure there are many more shops with good service.

I hope it helps

Cheers

New venture into a longer wheelbase for me. Also using plastic rims for once to reduce a hefty 5 grams or about.

A little heavy on the panel lines, but a decent effort. wink2.gif
