QUOTE
The American Dream is dead.

The WWE announced on Thursday afternoon that professional wrestling legend Virgil Runnels, a.k.a. Dusty Rhodes, died earlier in the day. He was 69.

Rhodes is a WWE Hall of Famer and a three-time NWA Champion. Always one of the most distinctive and fascinating wrestlers, the man nicknamed The American Dream never failed to entertain and/or enrage every time he stepped into the ring. His career began in the 1970s and continued into the 90s.

Though I wasn't alive to see him during those great days, I have seen him later on in WCW and WWF/WWE (He wrestled a few times, not many, but god was it great) and to see his kids wrestle now to carry on that legacy and have that charisma like their dad always had is something to remember him now. He lived the American dream, and he'll live it even after today. R.I.P. sad.gif

That's when it mostly happens, gives you that bit of hope, almost like a mercy or a comforting blanket before you go to sleep. Really sucks, I hope his kids do something for whatever wrestling show is on air (Not even sure if they do a smackdown on fridays/thursdays anymore) I only seem to see raw. lol

I think Smackdown has already been taped and they have a pay per view this Sunday so maybe they'll have a tribute then or the following night on RAW.

Well the WWE is going to have a Dusty Rhodes tribute on the WWE Network (if you have it) after RAW.

Nope, I haven't watched a actual WWE show since... shit, years.

Might see if some site has it up for free later.

Bunch of funny Irish blokes yelling about pay-per-views and random events, bloody hilarious show for background noise when you're doing stuff. This episode's a special, so it's not the usual blokes, but instead they managed to wrangle the bloke that makes Botchamania to co-host.

Twas stating a fact about his wrestling 'career'

Was never good, maybe when he was starting out in the WWF/WWE when he got his ass beat after trying to rap and shit, after that, meh.

His career actually revitalized the brand for many years, pretty much right after they ran him through his "Doctor of Thugganomics" angle and made him into the babyface hero he's most well known for. He's also a really good guy, giving money and time to various charities.

I don't like the way Vince saturated the brand with Cena's image, and it got to the point where Cena had to protest in order to convince Vinnie to let the endless string of "he's champion - he's not champion but will reclaim it within a few months" crap. Vin was attempting to make Cena into the next Hogan, and Cena was smart to duck out before it got too out of hand. As in, "Mr. Nanny 2" out of hand. Who is the next big thing they're attempting to push on crowds? Seth Rollins? Rollins isn't going to be a multi-year championship dynasty. You either have "it" or you don't, and he doesn't. Not after he was fucked over for two years on the idiotic and too-complex-for-crowds "Shield" story line. I don't think anybody on the current roster has that magic combination of traits to put them on the Legends roster.

The only other wrestlers that have done amazing things for the brand since the PG Era began are CM Punk and Daniel Bryan. The Rock's return and championship streak was another good booster shot, but The Rock is eternally great, so it wasn't a surprise, jabroni. It was a guarantee.

EDIT: I'm a faggot for failing to mention Dolph Ziggler as another crowd pleaser. Great performer, even if his angle was incredibly stupid.
