Boost On or Boost Off???

Last Saturday night outing at Sunway Carnival is making me mad. I run into some guy name Xenon, at first I enter the cab using my nearly stock mx-5 Miata (NA6CE) open the challenge, his friend challenge me pick random selection and boost off. It was Akagi DHW I win with 200+ m. Then he enters again and select Tusukuba OBD this time no boost off, still win it with a nearly 100 m lead. Then he enter and select Nagao DHD boost on, I lose, this guy really is making me mad mad.gif , So what I did is I use a stock S2K an challenge him at Tusukuba OBD, I say if u have b@ll boost off. Then it is a boost off race I win with 200+m. I say to him it not about the numbers of tune your car have it about your skill that make the different. What about you guys opinion or do you have your own experience of guys with no b@ll???

Not particularly, no. It really depends on what condition the machine is in compared to what I'm up against, what mood I'm in, etc etc. I for example, would prefer to leave boost on and take the lead if I was up against a beginner, in a trueno, who inexplicably chose iro wet due to his inexperience. If he understands the system and brakes well, well good, the match becomes exciting. If not, *shrug* then I gave him every possible advantage.

Though if someone wants to play Boost Off, I'll oblige. V5's system is made so that even someone being left behind for the first few corners can make a comeback by braking later and conserving boost. I never mind being a chaser.

That is the point why I like to boost off, but the problem is if the guy really want to take advantage because I using a nearly stock car, but after he find out that I could really play, he did not want to play boost off, may be next time when I had encounter such a person I would just follow him from behind and pass after the second last corner

Not gonna work. laugh.gif Boost wears off after CP4. Try it; once you pass the Fourth Checkpoint the person behind starts to fall back when he pulls maneuvers that would have otherwise been compensated for by battle boost.

Late brake into a corner and ram him into the wall to kill his boost for a start. Works very well in Nagao UH IMO.

I generally just leave it as boost on...unless the other person hits the brakes for boost off, then I'll oblige to the match.

Anyways, I dunno why you would call people who leave boost on as "no b@lls"...it's their right to leave it on or off. You can't force them.

I really can't decide for this one, so I'll just abstain on this matter. I don't mind either way, actually. I usually just go by mutual consent whether we'll battle with or without boost.

Still, I understand your frustration about people like 'that'.. My suggestion is, try a couple of boost on battle with some friends. See if you can get the feeling of boost on battle, when to take advantage of the system and make a pass, when to let go, essentially how to win a boost on battle.

That way, you can beat 'them' again even with boost on.. w00t2.gif

PS: out of the few numbers I ever battle with boost on, I was almost always defeated by being passed right at the last corner. Maybe you can try that trick. It takes timing, skills, and some luck, though..

Asshats are asshats. Boost on or off either way, they'll still troll you and you'll feel angry/dissatisfied.

If both are playing with sportsmanship, it doesn't matter.

yeah i remember that one match, might be nagao uh, wherein i was considerably in front, roughly 80-100 meters... suddenly, i noticed your rx-8 constantly ramming my RS from behind and you were able to squeeze by in front... XD

---------------

i prefer it either way... eventually, it's still a battle between two drivers... if you ask me, both boost on and boost off can be exciting... but IMO boost on is only exciting if you're neck in neck for the entire match, as in no one is holding a sizeable lead over the other; it's like having to block bunta from start to finish if you're in front...

the only thing i hate with boost on is those deliberate tactics that some japanese players use in their battles (like the leader slowing to a crawl in some hairpins and letting the chaser through)...

either way, there's always a winner and a loser in battles...

No the reason I say to the person no b@ll is because when he first saw me using nearlly stock car he decided to boost off but when he lose the first race. He decided to challange me again with boost on. This is why I say he have no b@ll. He thinks that having tune more then me that he thinks it would have an advantage to him.... Anway to think off it may be next time I will apologize to him, but before that I have to train more to master all course so that even if it is a boost on race I will win......

^ Exactly how I think of it.

Unfortunately in America...well in my state, boost off is the norm. No neck to neck boost on battles here.

I can understand the thinking that playing boost on = no b*lls

I have played in Japan this Oct using the net battle, my thinkings are:

1) Since we cannot see the player, we might as well learn how to battle in both modes
2) In Japan, the king of ID players stay, most battles are done in boost on where they really know how to block
3) Since the boost on or off feature are provided by sega, I think the best players should be good in both modes
4) I personally like the boost off in ID5 due to the boost on effect i nthis version, but I've learned how to play in both

it's not easy to be the the better players, is it?

Yes it was hard but come to think of it I should play more in both mode in the meantime improve my lining braking point n etc to improve my skill

either ways is ok for me as long as i want to battle ... anyway this version doesn't have winning percentage n battle auras so whats the big deal ???

if u lose try again n learn from your mistakes, if u juz can't beat the same opponent is juz means that u r not good ENUF and accept the fate that u lose to a better player ... happy.gif

I think wif boost or no boost, should nt a big problem. Usually I play, if the opponent wants off boost den I agree lo. Based on ur skill, but boost is more challenging. Usually I play different style depends on boost off or on.

b00st on definately. if both drivers know the map too well, there is no point in a boost off battle. it would boil down to who enters the corner slowest to preserve boost. not too slow till opponents drives off

i played boost off battle and let my opponent off for 40m before i chased. for braking a lot more i was able to overtake him on the final corner cause i save more boost.

it is a different story with boost on, it comes down to skill. smile.gif overtaking skill with sufficient lining and boost control.

I always look at the other guy. If I see him pressing on the brake, then I press on the brake, as well. If not, well, then I don't.

Normally, I'll keep holding down the brake for boost off.

If the guy in the opposite cab remained "ON", then Boost On battle it is, and I simply race anyway, while learning how to hold back at the early section while step on it on the last section. If he turns it off as well, then I'll have my kind of all-out battle that usually determines who's the victor while who eats the most walls or conserve the most boost during the low speed cornering. smile.gif
