Hey guys, my first post...

Does anyone here drive an AE86?

I've got a red 1986 Corolla GTS hatchback.. no real mods, welding the diff. soon and gutting the rear end.

Lets see what you've got here:)

Constant LSD effect, not theb est but it def works.

I myself have an 86 as well.

Its a 1986 Gts hatchback. I dont know the total list of mods as much of them were done before i got the car,

but she has a redtop largeport engine (i assume its not small port becuase of the tvis, but it does back fire a lot on low octane gas... i should get a compression check).

Trd 4way adjustable dampers/shocks (same thing for those who dont know) up front with trd tokico non adjustable in the rear

trd Springs at all corners (Way too soft if you ask me, im planning on getting soem stiffer ones soon) spring rate unknown (damn).

Custom exhaust piping, It had a header/cat system but the original owner took them for personal reasosn and so itd pass emissions.

Then some basic stuff, like steel braded clutch/brake lines, nothing worth metnioning.

She hast he stock lsd, but its in need of a rebuild (i smoke the inner tire when cornering hard pretty easy).

Lastly i just did a bunch of body work to it and finished primering it white for a real paint job soon (save money anywhere i can), pictures in the other thread, she was black.. oh well.

I guess you can weld it together to make a spool like some drag racers do. It would probably work for drifting I guess. I would kinda suck to try to race that thing though. You might also get some accelerated tire wear if you daily drive it.

Matt- You can nickname your GT-S "Michael Jackson" or "Jacko" since it was black, and is now white, and you may possibly get a nose change [Corolla GT-S to TRUENO]

Why don't you go to a scrapyard and get a diff from a tercel4wd? it's the same. diffs from several other 'yotas also fit. just remember when changing that kouki and zenki 86's have different splines.

My car is a 1984 Corola Coupe GT which is the european name for the Levin Hatchback. It's Midnight blue metallic with 15" Azev A, It's got Sparco springs, Full racing exhaust, with headers, Ram Air filter, and a second generation big port 4A-GEU. (Red&Black top), and a new original LSD. Curently, I'm not driving it, I'm welding rust... Other than the holes in the floor, and a slightly rustdamaged hood, the car's in great shape. I'm just missing a carbon hood, and a walbro fuel pump, to get the car back on the road again. I'm not buying the carbon hood because I'm an 2F2F idiot though... It's actually cheaper than an original steel hood grin2.gif

The difference is that the early cars have 5 mm longer driveshafts, and more uhh... "teeth" on the driveshaft. I know a guy who bought a cusco lsd for his 87 model recently, and he had to modify his rear axle to make it fit. and according to trd's home page, you can get both 1.5 and 2 way lsd for both learly and late cars, but they have different parts numbers. I have the early car, so for me It's a lot more difficult to find a spare diff, cause the tercel diff only fit the late models... I'm just lucky that my diff was new when I bought the car!

Here's the list:
AE95 and carina/corona 4wd (newer than 88) has the same lsd as AE86 built after october 85.

AE95 is named either corolla 4wd or tercel depending on where you live.

Cars made before october 85 : the lsd is unique to the AE86.
