Nintendo seems to be on a roll lately, what with the popularity of Pokemon Go boosting Nintendo's market value by $7 billion (biggest jump in value for the company since the 1980s), and now they're going to release a miniature version of the original Nintendo Entertainment System, and it will come with 30 games!

From its introduction in the 1980s, the NES to many is the console that got us into gaming with its numerous classic games, and now Nintendo is bringing the console back to allow gamers to relive those classics again with a new edition of the console this fall.

Castlevania
Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest
Donkey Kong
Donkey Kong Jr.
Double Dragon II: The Revenge
Dr. Mario
Excitebike
Final Fantasy
Galaga
Ghosts’N Goblins
Gradius
Ice Climber
Kid Icarus
Kirby’s Adventure
Mario Bros.
Mega Man 2
Metroid
Ninja Gaiden
Pac-Man
Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream
StarTropics
Super C
Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario Bros. 2
Super Mario Bros. 3
Tecmo Bowl
The Legend of Zelda
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
The NES Classic Edition will release on November 11th, 2016 for $59.99, with the console to also include a classic NES controller, an AC adapter, and an included HDMI cable (allowing the system to hook up easily to HDTVs).

The NES Classic controllers will also be available to purchase individually for $9.99, and can also be connected to the Wii Remote controller to be used while playing Virtual Console games on either a Wii or Wii U system.

Hate Pokemon Go, but love that it possibly resulted in this. Definitely buying.

For only 30 games?

I'm sure they can put more games in there, but people will buy it to look retro all of the sudden. lol. (Talking about the youngn's.)

One report I read suggested it might have compatibility with Virtual Console as well, so I guess you'll be able to get games from there as well.

Consider that NES games on the virtual console are typically $5 each. You're getting a really good deal for "just" 30 games.

Nevermind, looks like it's 30 games and 30 games only, according to Nintendo it's a standalone device.

It's pretty cheap, but it would have been nice to be able to make use of Virtual Console to download more NES games, but I guess it's better than nothing.

If it had access to that, they would have to set up controller support for the other consoles, unless they wanted it to be locked to the NES library alone.

Here's to hoping they rectify that with a Mini SNES. Super Metroid, please! awesome.gif

I think people are looking at this thinking it's some sort of fresh Nintendo console for the hardcore market, when it's nowhere near that. They're trying to tap into the casual market of "all in one" retro boxes that can play their software by releasing an official version straight from the big N.

I wish they had RBI Baseball, my favourite game from the old NES. sad.gif

I wonder how sharp the graphics will since the mini-NES has HDMI.

Sharp as fuck, but almost assuredly 4:3 since NES was made well before widescreen was a thing.

So the thing about the NES controller thing, turns out you can connect the controller to your WiiU and play Virtual Console games on the WiiU using the mini-NES' controller.

I would rather want a Nintendo console where you can play all Satellaview games including all their alternative versions and additional contents that were never rereleased again (like BS Zelda).

Nintendo is loading this up as a holiday package. It's not going to include obscure or region-unreleased titles like anything on the Satellaview.

I wasn't talking about the mini NES. I just would like to see some kind of mini SNES which could feature Satellaview games.
