Considering it's the first mainline MGS title in a long time, and probably will be the only one for a similar amount of time, I'd say that any price is worth it.

I seen that package price for that thing is $499 which is overkill IMO, doesnt even come witha PS4.

Die hard fans will buy it though.

Damn, for real? I thought it came with a PS4 just based on the looks of it and that they have a custom PS4 in a MGS V scheme.

None of the retail editions of MGS V come with a console. The Premium/Collector's edition comes with a huge amount of shit, though, so I'm not complaining.

All copies have a data transfer option for Ground Zeroes to add some extra Mother Base staff and Snake's outfit from that game.

MSRP:
Basic retail and Day One - $60 (XB1/PS4) $50 (X360/PS3)
Collector's Edition - $100

In Japan:
Basic and Digital Download - 8,400 yen
Special Edition - 9,980 yen
Premium - 29,800 yen

Not $400. w00t2.gif

It'd be sweet if they release the special edition of the PS4 here or even a normal bundle with the console like what was done for MGS 4 (I bought that bundle and kept that PS3 until I sold it to get the slim).

There's really no point in waiting for that MGS5 PS4 to release overseas. You can just change the language option to English. And, assuming the account system is region free again, you can make a North American PSN account.

$100 is not a bad hit on the wallet considering all the shit you're getting. I'm preordering.

Wish I would've seen that it was up for preorder already. Looks like it's not available on most sites.

Also, if anyone hasn't snagged the MGS Legacy Collection yet, they restocked it on Amazon. I thought it was a pretty solid collection worth the $50 I paid at the time. Includes pretty much everything you need to know about the story. Well... Besides Portable Ops. Also comes with a nice art book.

I could've sworn it was available on Gamestop/EB but they went "out of stock" on it.

News: It seems like Konami has removed references to Kojima on Metal Gear Solid V and redirected Kojima Productions stuff back to Konami. Apparently rumours are speculating that Kojima has left Konami.

He hasn't left. His company's contract with Konami ends in December and it sounds like he's not renewing it due to some structural changes within Konami that keep him out of the high level stuff.

You would think they would treat him better. MGS is probably Konami's biggest money maker.

I wonder what will happen to Silent Hills if (when) he leaves.

Yeah, that news has apparently come out since from an anonymous Konami insider that Kojima and some other people in his team have expiring contracts at the end of the year that they most likely will not renew...

On the bright side I hope this leads to Kojima either going into film (besides a cameos in Ryuhei Kitamura films) or making new games, especially if they're something along the lines of a current generation version of Policenauts or Snatcher.

A new take on Snatcher would be phenomenal. That was such a great game.

I kind of hope he keeps working on Silent Hills, just with a different name. The preview was more than enough to convince me that knows what he's doing in the genre.

Yeah, Snatcher was great, really great. Did you ever try Policenauts? I actually bought a copy of the PS1 version locally and was super happy when fans releasing a translation patch for it.

I unfortunately have not played it yet. I've heard great things, but never took the time to pursue a copy.

It's great, especially if you liked the Lethal Weapon series which it is kind of reminiscent of... but in space...

Really hoping this doesn't throw a wrench into the Silent Hills development.

Policenauts is one of the games I've wanted to get around to playing as is Macross VF-X2. Lack of there being a translation has kept me away.

There is a complete fan translation of Policenauts that was released several years ago...

Not MGSV related but this news sucks and I'm not all too surprised by it after it was announced Kojima was leaving Konami. sad.gif

Gameinformer had a 48-hour playtest. They reported that the world isn't notably large and is sparsely populated.

Any full detail on those as to why it's small? But then again, it's a 'demo' so maybe it just wants to give you a good time, instead of "shit, I gotta hide here for a few minutes before I move a few more feet!"

Need to watch the gameplay from E3, missing a few reads of the week of this, since everything I see is "omg ffvii remake! GG!"

Don't really expect GTA levels of large.

Did EA buy up all the license names for guns or something? I'm confused by all the alternate gun designations. It's worse than Syphon Filter.

Gameinformer has redirected the article about their hands-on time with the game to a more recent page about "5 tips for survival in MGS V" for some reason. I don't see a redaction notice anywhere.

The gist of the size of the world they gave was that it's open enough to mess around in, but not so much that you would get lost or have nothing to do.
