Hey guys, need to try and find some rear spring bolts for a Corvette that I'm babysitting, and I figure it'll probably be easier to get them in the US while I'm there in a couple weeks instead of trying to get them shipped here. Only problem being I have absolutely no knowledge of where to find car parts in the US and have no idea where to start. laugh.gif

Anyone got suggestions on where I could start looking for 8" rear spring bolts from an '84 Corvette? Preferably ones that would be able to ship to California in a timely fashion.

Any Chevrolet dealership will sell you almost any part that's still in production or at least still in stock. And they will arrive within days.

Sometimes you can even buy brand new car bodies for cars that haven't been sold in years (bodies in white), although they're only for racing since they don't have VINs.

Even older models I'd bet dealerships would still hold parts for. The Mitsubishi dealership still had part breakdowns for my 92 3000gt when I was searching for flywheel bolts.

Or I bet there are local Vette clubs on facebook or other social networks/forums that might sell to other owners for lower prices.

I'm sure both Jegs and Summit will ship to Australia. I'm sure they're a fairly regular size, so any industrial supply or fastener specialist would carry an equivalent. Which bolts exactly are you looking for? Is there anything special about them, or are they just threaded the whole length?

I'm going to be in the US anyway, though, so I might as well grab 'em there so I don't get slugged with the shipping. I'd rather pay nothing/a tiny amount for shipping than pay $20 or more and still have to wait a month for 'em to show. laugh.gif

As for the bolts, they're just the standard 8" ones for an '84. He's currently got the '80s installed but isn't happy with how the importer had the car set up (scraping on any incline it can find), so he's after a set of '84s with the rubber cushions to correct it.

With the clubs/Facebook groups, I'm not sure how fussed they would be selling to some random bloke who they don't know from Adam, but I'll certainly take a look if I can't find them anywhere else. biggrin.gif

Any parts store should be able to get them, if they don't have them.
