Initial D World - Discussion Board / Forums > Anime and Manga > Kyoto Animation's Next Project...?

Posted by: BOZZ May 27 2009, 11:08 PM
Well, maybe not Kyoto Animation, but today it came to light Angel Beats, the latest game from Key, the video game developer behind Clannad, Kanon and Air, has been green lit for a TV animated adaptation.

I'm assuming Kyoto Animation will be involved somehow since they've done almost all of Key's works over the past few years.

Kyoto Animation's Next Project?

no no no no.gif they should do the next FMP series first! tongue.gif

Looking at the teaser visual image makes me think of KyoAni, anyway I think it would be best this goes to Kyoto Animation as well seeing that they've done most of key's works.

Angel Beats, the latest game from Key.

Gonna have to play the prick and call you out on this Bozz. tongue.gif Angel Beats is actually just an anime atm, no word of a visual novel or a game yet though =P

Here's a slight synopsis taken from the http://zepy.momotato.com/2009/05/27/key-maeda-juns-angel-beats/
QUOTE
The story will take place in the afterlife and all characters in the story are dead... One of the highlights of the anime will be the battle scenes... The character that looks like Haruhi is called Yurippe and she’s the leader of the SSS group which is some kind of group that battles in the afterlife world. The overall story and the individual plots for each ep has already been written and Na-Ga has completed the character designs for 30 characters already. The theme of the anime is 人生 (life).

There's also a few promo streams of Angel Beats on the official website too for those that are interested:

Yeah, it turns out it's going to be an animated work. I knew about it already. I forgot to update the thread though.

PLANETARIAN.

It looks like they're adaption another 4-koma:

Posted by: bROCKoLEE Sep 23 2010, 07:00 AM
Planetairan! YES! One of my friends managed to spoil the damn thing for me though, luckily it went into the goldfish memory bank and i don't remember jack squat of what was said haha tongue.gif

Another 4-koma seems fitting, they certainly do know how to make em entertaining happy.gif

EDIT: Looks likes it's going to be a one off OVA. I wonder what they have install after this.

Posted by: BOZZ Sep 23 2010, 10:26 AM
Oh, they haven't had an OVA series/one off in a while (Munto comes to mind).

Posted by: bROCKoLEE Sep 29 2010, 12:10 AM
Well it looks like there's a K-On movie on its way so we know what Kyo-Ani has in mind now lol.

Posted by: BOZZ Oct 3 2010, 09:34 PM
Funny enough their CEO bragged about Kyoto Animation's work and how their shows sell well... when in all honesty it's due to the moe-style that seems to popular over there.

The funny thing is that K-On, which isn't a KyoAni-original, sold extremely well but a series that is an original from KyoAni, Munto, sold quite poorly.

Posted by: bROCKoLEE Oct 8 2010, 06:35 PM
Well their shows do sell pretty damn well, so there's no arguing that. But I'm pretty sure not all of the "moe shows" out there would sell well based on that one factor alone, so they (KyoAni) are doing something right at the very least.

Most of their shows are hardly original works and the only one that ever was, pretty much bombed lol. They seem to adapt current existing works and stories with great mastery, but when asked to do one of their own, they crumble like peanuts lol.

Posted by: BOZZ Oct 13 2010, 08:01 PM
So I read a few chapters of this next adaptation of theirs... Nichijou... and it's a badly drawn Azumanga Daioh... I wonder how KyoAni will replicate the art style since it's so odd (and sort of bad).

Oh wow, those pictures are so horrid hahah laugh.gif

If there's anything KyoAni's good at, it's touching up the character designs and making them more appealing. We'll see what they make of this, though it looks like they've found a certain comfort zone in making comedy/gag shows.

Compared to this year's host of ecchi overboard? I beg to differ.

2011 might be promising, though. smile.gif

Best thing of 2010 has thus far (to me) been Working!! (which is hilarious as hell is hot) and the Blade Break movies, so some good is definitely out there... smile.gif

At 19 secs, she has no arms! laugh.gif

Apparently the OVA is being titled as episode 0 so it looks like there could be a possible TV series after this me thinks.

I also take back what i said about the manga looking rather horrid. It seems like they only get horrid when they go into that 'exaggeration mode' (for a lack of better term that i can't come up with atm lol =P).

I am pretty sure it is confirmed that it is being made into a TV series though...

Just checked and it apparently is so. My bad! haha =P

Apparently the FMP novels have finished now so i hope we'd be able to get another season of that sometime soon. Wishful thinking never hurt right? :3

When was this supposed to air? I don't think it's in the Winter 2010/2011 list...?

Posted by: bROCKoLEE Dec 22 2010, 01:55 AM
Maybe the season after that? I have no idea actually too lol.

Hey, me from 2016 days ago. It's me in the year 2016. Planetarian anime confirmed.

Just thought you should know.

EDIT: Hey me from 2016 days ago, year 2016 me again. Funny how those numbers just happened to line up. You'll have to wait for tomorrow me to be sure, but there's a chance this is all just an incredibly cruel joke by Key for April Fools. Sorry, man. See you in 24 hours.

So on the fence as to whether it's fake or not, http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/interest/2016-03-31/anime-manga-game-industry-celebrates-april-fool-day-2016-part-ii/.100511 lists it amongst their list of this year's April Fools' jokes almost as an after thought, but there is a trailer for it too and apparently they've announced legitimate project on April Fools Day before...

KyoAni isn't animating it, though. It just so happens that this thread is where I wished for Planetarian to get an anime.

Actually, the funny thing is when I saw that it was revealed on April Fools' Day and I saw the name "David Production", in my first response was it was fake, on 2 counts: 1. It wasn't animated by KyoAni AND 2. What kind of production company calls itself David Production, it sounded made up, but turns out they're the real thing.

I wonder why KyoAni isn't involved in it, I was under the impression their only current projects are both feature length movies, one for Sound! Euphonium (which is out in a few weeks) and A Silent Voice (it's a manga focusing on bullying where it focuses on a kid in high school years after he bullied a deaf girl in primary school) which is out later this year AFAIK.
