Thanks guys. Anyone know if there is a full blu-ray rip upload? I want to make some wallpaper and artwork. And even the 1080 4GB version has alot of noise in the "action" scenes.

I have to say that the lack music does spoil the action quite a lot. So they left the eurobeat out (which is fine) but they played the new music so softly it felt like the scenes lacked the energy they once had...

I didn't like that they no longer uses Eurobeat for the races. I probably won't watch the rest of the movies.

I'll watch them with due caution. Not happy with this overly condensed version of the series.

I really didn't like the 'compactness' and that they left out the tiny little details and rushing to the data. Like the 'full tank of gas, you promised' when Takumi returns home in the series.

Really missing those and the movie feels rushed.

I feel like I've betrayed my own senses, but I just watched Legend 1 an hour ago and enjoyed the experience. I think it's because I haven't been immersed in anything Initial D related in months, so the staunch purist in me had died down enough to allow me to accept "new and different".

I think if you take the movie as an alternate universe, retelling, reboot, whatever, it's a good movie. The animation is great, the race scenes take up a lot of the hour, and there's barely anything you could consider annoying filler. The practice lap scene with the Speedstars and Redsuns was much better here than it was in First Stage (and even the manga). The big race itself was trimmed so that exposition was limited to maybe three scenes, and so we're treated to a very well done race that takes all of the important bits and puts them all together in one big scene.

True, compared to the grand scheme of First Stage, this doesn't hold up. It's not faithful to the manga in many places, either. On its own, though, it's good entertainment. I'd give it a B rating.

That is strange coming from you, considering that you have been shitting on it for the past year.

That's because the first many times I saw it, I was still in the "I hate it because it's not 100% manga faithful" mode and refused to enjoy it. It's been many months since I've watched or read anything related to the series, so I got to start fresh. As a movie, by itself, I liked it. It's no Third Stage, but it's good.

I've finished watching this and I got to say I like it a lot, I wouldn't hesitate that I enjoyed it more than the same events depicted in First Stage. The new music works for this movie and some of the voices seem so spot on (the voice actors for Itsuki, Kenji, Keisuke, Takumi, and Bunta for example I found to be quite a nice fit).

There is a few minor things that confuse the hell out of me though... Now it might just be the translation of the movie I was watching but...

In the movie it seems that the Red Suns have just formed as a team to do an expedition to other areas and are starting with Gunma, right? The thing is though, why the hell was Keisuke on Mt. Akina at the beginning of the movie? In First Stage it's because the challenge had been made by the Red Suns to the Speedstars and Keisuke was practicing the course, but in this case the challenge hasn't even been issued... It was a nice touch on how they changed minor things, like having Keisuke and Takumi talk after the race (in First Stage Takumi just drove off if memory serves me correctly) and incorporate the dialogue from just before the Nakazato race occurring at this point and how even this movie has the "infamous" Takumi's fear of Iketani's driving ha ha.

Movie was pretty short.. the only 1 finale race lasted 5 minutes.. Too much side story with the girl. I don't really see the added value of this movie. The race are not even exiting..

Did they really play this 60 min movie in theatre?

Is it me or the cars seem "slower" than in the anime?

just watched this and umm anyone notice that takumi and bunta have way too much facial expressions/emotions e.g bunta isnt supposed to smile. Also there was no point in watching that unless you have never watched the original.

Oh btw, that is part of the 60 minute movie. They showed that at the start.

I just recently bought legend 1 the DVD to support the release of legend 2. And i was suprised since its only in 480p (720x480) wtf is that normal? the Files on the DVD are 3GB big for 480p? Also the subtitles seem to miss the right meaning. Have seen better subs from people who did it for free

hahaha! hrmm.. good question, I pirated the dang thing like a dirty 'taku; then I recycle binned it, cause I found 5th Stage even better... XD

There's a post on the amazon.jp page for the 2nd movie, something about the DVD something something, damn kanji XD / but it looked like he shared you're same sentiments on low res.

Guess we'll have to wait for the 3-Movie boxset in 2020 when they release all the films.

I hope we dont Die before that Date << Damn Initial D is the slowest coming out Anime ever... even its an racing Anime ...
