I like the idea of more story prior to the opening of the manga, but I think if it were covered, it would likely be in some form of brief flashbacks, as this is going to be a feature length film somewhere in the average running time of 90 minutes I doubt they would make the cut.

Also, if/when they do the same opening scene from 1st stage, I don't know how I would feel seeing it without hearing "Space Boy" playing over the top.

I'm really happy to hear it's going to be in theatres around this time, as I'll be in Tokyo at the end of August/beginning of September. Hopefully there will still be showings to attend

I might actually be there to see the movie as well. After all, summer Comiket is the middle of August.

I wonder what cinemas in Japan you can watch Final Stage (ID The Movie). As me and a friend also go to Japan around August, i would really like to see it in theathers.

None. Final Stage is an OVA, not a movie.

I mean Initial D The Movie... -.-

So, will Final Stage be earlier or later than Initial D The Movie? I know there isn't an exact date, but they are both in 2014.
And i didn't knew Final Stage will be an OVA... If it will be an OVA of 1 episode, it would be like rushed Fifth Stage.

Cause, the last battle of Fourth Stage was like 4 episodes. Shinji's battle was almost as long as that.
But then they do it in 1 episode, so they fail again.
Then make it 50 minutes!

The movie is coming out in August whereas the Final Stage OVA is coming out in Spring.

It looks like this thread is going to need to be renamed... It's not just a single movie... but a trilogy... The first movie is titled - Shin Gekijō-ban Initial D Legend 1 -Kakusei- (New Initial D the Movie Legend 1: Awakening).

Avex Entertainment released a new 30-second promo/trailer for the new movie. As mentioned above, the new movie is confirmed to be a trilogy, consisting of three parts. Part 1 is going to be released on August 23, 2014. Part 1 is called Legend 1: Awakening (覚醒)

Anywhoo, this feels like a trend in the animation market - making an "origin" film as a special (Pokemon, I'm looking at you!)

If you hate AoT something is wrong with you... unless you hate it because of the violence and horror. In which case you're just a puss.

I'm not a fan of AoT either, but the art design was pretty good.

I'm glad they're working on this. Those two previews so far already look better than 5th Stage.

GET HYPE! I'm looking forward to this now! This is such great news! But trilogy? What do they mean by that? I hope they don't milk the series for all its worth... I don't want some dried up husk of a series...

How much time do you think they're going to spend on a prequel? The only canon pre-main-story content that exists are a handful of flashbacks (including that short story). There isn't nearly enough material for that. And it's also too boring a subject (in my opinion) to warrant new non-canon stuff written in. But let's assume the first film is a prequel - that only leaves two movies to account for the rest of the story's content. Those are going to be two hella condensed movies.

tl;dr - no.

The only reason to hate SnK that anyone should have is its mouth-breathing fanbase. And that's still not a good reason.

So Initial D: Final Stage movie will be the last?. I can't wait to see it as well.

I'm watching AoT atm. The animation is top notch, and the story is interesting enough.

But i hate how EVERY DAMN EPISODE is like 1/2 flashbacks. It drives me insane >_<

That said, i'm totally pumped for this movie(s), would really like to know if it's a prequel/re-telling/sequel though :/

But I personally watched it over a year after it came out with no real knowledge of what happens (except from what I heard about it on Japanese TV several years ago) and I COULDN'T STOP WATCHING.

That is pretty much the ultimate sign that a show is good.

On the other hand, not being willing to watch the second episode is a pretty good sign that a show is bad.

Why is the new movie title Legend 1, is like back to the begining even before takumi start delivering toufu...

Yeah I'm confused. This is something I want to know. I feel like the movie will retell the story with extra insight and side stories maybe?

Wow, so this will be a 3 part movie series! Awesome! After seeing how good made for movies anime can be, like the Stein's Gate movie, and hearing that this will be 3 part series, I have high hopes. Stein's Gate made 5 million, and the Evangelion movies made well over 10 million, I'm predicting Initial D might make 5 million at least. I can see them putting a lot of effort into these movies, hopefully the 3rd movie will bring new material not seen in the manga (but that will still be accepted as canon)
