"Two exclusive characters" were mentioned a while back, and one of them was revealed... SSJ3 Broly. No f**king bullshit. Cover art: This post has been edited by Tessō on Aug 23 2009, 01:07 AM |

OH DEAR LORD MY PANTS JUST EXPLODED All the years of juvenile but poignant idioms and fads revolving around Brolly and his enormous awesome--the zenith... This is fantastic.

He showed up first in the most recent Dragonball Z Bakuretsu Impact arcade game in Japan. However, since this is the first CONSOLE iteration of the character, I guess this counts for that crowd. |

More NEGATIVE than a black hole Group: ADMINISTRATOR Posts: 19,345 Member No.: 12,263 Joined: Sep 12th 2005 Location: Update Profile | The other exclusive character was announced a few days ago... Drum roll? That's right, guys. Super Saiyan 3 Vegeta. Also, GameStop is giving a preorder bonus for those that... well, preorder the game before its tentative November 10 release date. The "Raging Blast Special Pack" bonus they give you will include custom versions of Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Piccolo, Trunks and Gotenks, and it will also unlock SS3 Broly from the start. Also also, a limited edition version of the game was announced to be released on the same date as the regular game. Contents for the Limited Edition include a steelbook case, art book, soundtrack and DLC (not sure if that means game content or other things like themes and profile pictures). No word yet on if the NTSC version will include any or all of these contents. Game feature updates? Remember how in the show, the sky would darken or change colors when some uber powerful dude started powering up? Yeah, that happens in the game now. Battle environments have changed from somewhat spacious to f**king massive, and there's a feature called "Super Rising" that *might* allow characters to move into different batltefields. Not sure, since they haven't really elaborated much on it. Official screenshots and video releases have confirmed a short list of characters, but the developers are claiming numbers around 180, albeit calling them "variations" (transformations) rather than individual characters. |

SS3 Goku should be markedly more powerful and damaging in pure physical strength over SS1 Goku, not just capable of charging up a bit more like in the older Tenkaichi games. The only differences in the BT series between transformations were more appearance and less gameplay changing. That and I'd like a few more what-if characters. SS3 Goku + SS3 Vegeta = SS3 Vegetto/Gogeta? See what COULD have happened if Goku had actually fused with Gohan as originally intended. Give Trunks some more showtime as he did in Shin Budokai 2. Shit like that. |

AMEN to that. They actually just started another Dragon Ball series in Japan back in April. its a 100 episode remake of Dragon Ball Z that is supposed to move a lot faster and stick a lot closer to the original manga storyline. Dragon Ball Kai. Cant wait for that to come out over here.

Yeah, I see videos of weak fighters like Captain Ginyu defeating SSJ4 Vegeta and I think...that could never happen. He wouldn't even be able to defeat SSJ1 Vegeta.

More NEGATIVE than a black hole Group: ADMINISTRATOR Posts: 19,345 Member No.: 12,263 Joined: Sep 12th 2005 Location: Update Profile | Kind of a quiet release since MW2 was invading stores at the same time, but Raging Blast hit shelves early last week and I played a bit of it while I wasn't going bonkers over Borderlands as usual. VERY nice overhaul in graphics. I really like how characters have expressions and LOOK powerful when they get high enough levels of power. The structure of transformations actually carries weight in this game, FINALLY. SSJ3 Goku is considerably more powerful than most characters and will overwhelm a lot of the opposition. I plowed through most of the extra modes with SSJ3 Goku, only really facing trouble against the likes of Super Vegetto (natch) or the other SSJ3 characters that aren't Gotenks. Problems? Well, remember trying to beat the Cell Games in BT2 and realizing that the AI was completely ridiculous and unforgiving? Yeah, it transferred over. You will never connect with a Kamehameha or... any ranged attack unless you manage to cheap your opponent into using an attack that freezes them in place. There is also a massive issue where the opponent will kick you into the air and repeatedly chase and smash you, repeat repeat repeat INFINITELY until you are out of health. I had to deal with this in the second fight in the game when Raditz infinite kicked me to death, causing me to restart the already-arduously-long battle for the third time. Because of these issues, SSJ3 Broly is a f**king nightmare to fight. Have fun dodging the constant stream of high priority attacks, rush combos, and impossible beam/rush attack battles. The computer is always using a turbo controller in those "struggle" moments where you have to spin the left stick with crack addict speed. I was beaten in one of those struggles by YAMCHA. And I was SUPER VEGETTO. This just does not happen. The "power tiers" work well in a standalone fight so Super Vegetto will wipe the floor with Frieza effortlessly, until one of the aforementioned broken elements kicks in and the computer goes into super hulk rage. Overall, though, it's a huge upgrade from Burst Limit, which looked good but played... boring. Environments are massive, attacks are flashy, and the voice work is decent enough to not be forced to switch to Japanese. Don't expect it to be perfect, though. Some lines just don't fit to the point where you can tell the conversational lines were not recorded anywhere near at the same time, so they sound very disjointed. Voice actors have changed a little bit, too. Dameon Clarke, who was the GODLIKE voice behind Cell, has been replaced by Travis Willingham (Roy Mustang in Fullmetal Alchemist). A ton of lines from Budokai Tenkaichi's massive script were ported over, so be ready to hear some classic lines repeated again and again and again. Online play is as I expected. Everybody that has SSJ3 Broly is using him to destroy everybody else, and if you happen to be close to beating anybody, rage quit rules supreme. Worthless to try past a few test matches before setting a "friends only" policy to get rid of the rampant rage quitting and tantrums. FAN RATING: 8/10 (lots of stuff in the museum, lots of costume unlocks, enough shiny objects to keep a DBZ fan in the zone) GAMER RATING: 6.5/10 (unconventional fighting system, broken system makes for an unfair AI regardless of difficulty setting, barely any plot given) |

I knew that the day SSJ3 Brolly really made a debut in a game that everyone could get ahold of, he would be absurdly broke and OP. This is justice for all the memes in middle and high school. |

More NEGATIVE than a black hole Group: ADMINISTRATOR Posts: 19,345 Member No.: 12,263 Joined: Sep 12th 2005 Location: Update Profile | The worst part of them is that the game considers them separate characters, in that you can't select Vegeta's base form and then transform into SSJ3. SSJ3 Vegeta has his own block on the selection screen, so there's no buildup. He's just THERE. And to top it off, his moveset is no different than the other variations of Vegeta. Galick Gun, Big Bang Attack, snoooooooooooore. The only differences are more lightning bolts, longer hair and somewhat faster melee attacks. Whoopee. The 20 stars required to unlock him are better spent elsewhere. SSJ3 Broly? Same deal. Separate character block, faster melee, and nothing special in the moveset. 20 stars, better spent elsewhere. They're window dressing. Super Vegetto and Gogeta are still faster and more powerful. Unless we start seeing something ridiculous like SSJ3/4 Vegetto or Super Turbo Edition Perfect Cell, these bonus characters are worthless and just a way to waste time unlocking things. The stars you need to unlock them are stupid in the first place. You can only get them, usually one at a time, by completing "missions" that appear when you beat a story mode battle, and some of them are so vague in description that it's impossible to get them. This is my favorite:
There is no magic attack you can use to do this. Apparently your character has to goad them into moving near you, which taunting does not do, so good f**kin' luck.

More NEGATIVE than a black hole Group: ADMINISTRATOR Posts: 19,345 Member No.: 12,263 Joined: Sep 12th 2005 Location: Update Profile | I was about to post a new thread on this, but remembered the wonderful search function. Raging Blast 2 is coming out, and it's got a few tricks up its sleeve. - 101 characters, including the return of a few favorites like Future Gohan. Every character and transformation from RB1 will be here. - 6 completely new characters to the game franchise. - 2 "what if" characters. - Here's the kicker. Remember that old pseudo-OVA that never got released in the US? The Plan to Eradicate the Saiyans? Well, it's being reanimated and redubbed for inclusion with the game. Bandai America confirmed that it will be part of the US release as well, so we're not getting screwed out of it. To be fair, that OVA was actually just the cutscenes from an interactive video for the Playdia. This version is being treated as an actual "episode" so it will be somewhat better. I've already seen the original, and... well, it's not the greatest DBZ episode, but it's entertainment, and it's NEW! The game is scheduled for November 2010. No specific release date as of yet. Stills from the redone version of the OVA... And of course the groovy new box art. This post has been edited by Tessou on Sep 5 2010, 07:09 PM |
