Coolness, I gotta say I am a bit jealous though, I've been meaning to start up my own webcomic but I need an artist...

I'm gonna make light of this eventually, but this is how the comic got started.

Early 2008:

Twitch: Hey...I've had a pretty crazy life so far. It'd make a good webcomic!
Girlfriend: Really...?
Twitch: Yeah! Do you wanna be in it?
Girlfriend: No. Don't put me in it.
Twitch: What..? You don't want to be in it?
Girlfriend: No! I don't want to be in it!
(Maybe that was a warning sign that things weren't all hunky-dory back on the ranch...)

Mid-2008

(I had just recently been talking with an old friend-girl of mine, roughly the same age as my girlfriend...)

Jen: So yeah, my boyfriend just dumped me.
Twitch: WHAT THE--?!
Jen: Just out of the blue. Said we needed to see other people...
Twitch: That's majorly f**ked up. If it makes you feel better, I think I'm angry enough for the both of us.
Jen: Haha...I'll be okay.

(One week later)

Twitch: Guess what?
Jen: What?
Twitch: the girlfriend dumped me too.
Jen: Wait, WHAT?!
Twitch: Yep...said that it wasn't gonna work out.

(that month we kept in relatively close contact, just talkin' through it all...)

August 2008

Twitch: I'm gonna do it. I'm gonna do that webcomic. Sure what happened to me sucks, but I can't let it ruin my life! Plus people need to know the truth about what happened! (My "girlfriend" was seeing this guy while we were still together...yeah.)
Jen: A...webcomic?
Twitch: Yeah! A comic, but on the internets!
Jen: Only you could think of something like this, Jay, sign me up!

September 2008-December 2008

I then gathered my old anime-club friends from college, and pitched to them the idea of my webcomic. It turns out that they were trying to find an avenue to get their stuff out, and hearing my story and plan sort of galvanized everyone into working on their comic/fanzine.

Me: Webcomic!
Ramses: Sentai!
Chibi: Lolis?
Joanna: BIG SWORDS!
Erick: Toasters!
Steven: BOMBA!
Genki: Writer's block?!

Early 2009 - Our fanzine is coming along, and strawberry scented burnout is in production!

Heh, I think you can turn out a webcomic just based on the whole process leading up to the decision to make it...

I guess this should motivate me to write a script and give it to a certain Pontiac driver on these forums who might be interested... smile.gif

Yea, that's usually the first hurdle. But once you find your artist/artists, then shit just flows. For me, there's nothing more gratifying than seeing your comic come to life.

I wonder how it'll look printed...?

So is all of that going to make it into the "history/making of the webcomic" portion of the site?

Oh yeah, been meaning to ask this but are you guys going to be going the usual route for webcomics in terms of releases?

For instance, this one comic called Misfile (I believe it was recommended by that one member officer something) updates their comic 5 times a week, Applegeeks (another one I read) updates 2 a week. Are you guys going to be following something like that or just complete work on a chapter (for instance say 10-16 pages) and then release it random intervals?

First off, I wanna say thank you to /idw/ for all their support. Without it, SSB would never have gotten off the ground.

Now on to business. I need you guys to spam the hell out of the webcomic. Tell a friend. Tell their friend to tell more friends. Let it spread.

Lookin' good twitch. Can't wait to see the completion of the first chapter. Definitely like that spinning strawberry on the enter page. It's kinda trippy laugh.gif

I dunno what it is...but the system you have for the comic isn't working right. It'll take me through a few pages at first, but then all of a sudden, the arrows on the bottom of the screen disappear. It's irritating! I'd love to see it in it's full glory, but I can't do anything unless it's operating properly. sad.gif

Right now we're working on a non-flash version, and working to check on the kinks as they arise. Thanks for the heads up, I'm letting our webmaster know.
