Ladies and gents of /idw/, the radio has landed!

Okay, well if you were hearing DJ Alastair's show last night, well then you may have heard a totally out of place/whack song by Fu Manchu called "Weird Beard". If you were in IRC last nite, however, you would've known it to be a promo of my up and coming radio program series that I shall set up sometime soon. Programs like...

WTF IS THIS SHIT: /idw/ Indie Blok / Date 4th Saturday of the Month

So as of right now, I'm just waiting on the word of the almighty BedoPear to see when this will be possible. My first few shows will be mic-less, but eventually I shall be live, and all of you will finally see how weird I truly am! grin2.gif

Posted by: Alastair Jan 12 2009, 09:17 PM
F**K yes THir13teen is a DJ. so will there just be rock. or what?

Posted by: Drew Jan 12 2009, 09:19 PM
Honestly, whatever I end up downloading between shows I'll want the rest of y'all to hear, so for my first two shows, we'll do these blocks, and then it's all out whatever I feel like.

Posted by: Alastair Jan 12 2009, 09:23 PM
..so it sounds like my show..but its thir13teen hosting..and not me XD

Posted by: SgtXDNX Jan 12 2009, 10:00 PM
I approve of the music choices and posters.

And you cannot forget the black metal yumechan. Nothing is complete without some good old fashion norwegan black metal

Posted by: Tessou Jan 13 2009, 11:39 AM
This spurns me to bring back the epic RAWK show.

If that includes some nice and hairy viking metal... grin2.gif

Posted by: Drew Jan 13 2009, 05:19 PM
How about some Progressive Viking Black Metal?!

Oh, and BTW, I will be playing the usual stuff you'd hear in ID radio; Anime/Game OSTs, Eurobeat, Dance, etc. etc.

EDIT: WE ARE GO! First block I'm gonna play is the metal block and I'll be live sometime soon; just not sure when. Guerilla radio ftw! grin2.gif

GOOD NEWS EVERYONE!

I'm gonna be playing the metal block next week from 11-1 EST. Tune in and turn it up b*tches!

EDIT: Sorry about the show being cancelled prematurely; that was my fault for getting greedy over air time. Still, had one helluva good time and I'm mos def gonna do some moar.

First off, I would like to give you all this:

My new radio tag; u liek?

Oh, and don't forget this Saturday; I shall unleash the epic Total Metal Block from 11-1 EST, or 8-10 PST. I'll be playing a small snippet of my heavy metal archive of over 1000 songs. Everything from the godfathers of metal as in Sabbath & Zeppelin, to NWOBHM like Motorhead and Maiden, thrash gods Megadeth, Slayer and Metallica, a few Black Metal songs, and a tasty 3-minute drum solo by Canada's own Neil Peart of Rush on a live version of YYZ. So come on in early, and enjoy the pure unadulterated headbanging, hard rock, and heavy metal. Ya got that suckas? sly.gif

apxrock.gif apxrock.gif apxrock.gif apxrock.gif

EDIT: Okay, so this saturday, it shall be time for the amazing music that is indie/alternative. Yes that's right, "WTF IS THIS SHIT: The Indie Block" will be playing. Now for those who don't know, "Indie" is the genre of music that is based off of independent labels that are not ran by major record companies. A good majority of it came from the 1990s, in genres such as grunge, britpop, post-grunge, hardcore punk, and heavy metal. Most of the stuff is music that you may have heard, but the theme is "independent", not necessarily "obscure". The title's ironic, I know, but the music is just plain effing awesome, so tune in this Saturday night from 11-1 EST It will be followed by my first Techno show the next week. Still no name/poster for it, but it'll be coming soon, so don't you forget that the awesomeness shall be commencing once again this Saturday!

It's time to take Saturday night and put it into a full-nelson!

bump for gr8 justice.

Oh, and I've got the new poster up for the dance/electronica show.

Dancing Party Time Vol. 1: Keeping it Phresh
Release Date: February 21, 2009.

The reason in my monster gap between shows is that next weekend I am going to go skiing up in the Poconos, and the weekend after that is Valentine's day; you guys/gals have much better things to do on that day...I hope.

Well anywho, I shall be seeing you this Caturday for epic alt-block.

EDIT: The Friday show is great success! Here's the torrent of all the mashups by dj lobsterdust for all of you out there.

Posted by: SgtXDNX Jan 31 2009, 02:55 AM
Daaaaamn dude, those mash-ups are awesome! I just downloaded all of them. =_=

Posted by: Drew Jan 31 2009, 02:46 PM
Haha. NP, Jake. Mashup is truly epic.

Okay, since HashiR32 left, how's about me doing Fridays up to N1's show?

I know last week I was going a bit over, but this time around I know I can bring it down a bit; I guess it was just the mic that kindof screwed me up; took me like fifteen minutes more to get it set up.

BTW, about doing mic'd up shows, how do you guys get it set up? I have to switch between the soundcard and Winamp, which never works the way I want it to. Also, I can't get the music to play as BGM when I'm talking. If anyone could be so kind to help me out, I'd appreciate it.

-Thir13teen out.

Posted by: SgtXDNX Jan 31 2009, 02:51 PM
If you look in the tutorial thread, there's a section for stereo mix. Set that up, and your BGM/mic combo should work fine. If that doesn't work, let me know and I'll try run you through it on IM.

Posted by: Drew Feb 3 2009, 07:44 PM
WELL

Good news for y'all; 99.9% sure that I'm gonna move the dance party to this Saturday, Feb. 7th. And don't forget to turn in on Friday night from 11-1 EST for my first Type /r/ Friday! Request Central, son!

EDIT: THIS JUST IN!!! DJ dB will be doing both Hellsing OSTs tonight starting at 11 PM EST.

Posted by: Drew Feb 7 2009, 07:46 PM
Well ladies and germs, gonna have to hold off on dance party until at least next week. mic's f**king things up AGAIN. Talking to N1 right now about fixing it. I'll still do a show, but not the dance one.

EDIT: Found out I need a sound card; NP with that one. Gonna go get that with my first paycheck from tutoring. should be on air soon.

Posted by: Drew Feb 14 2009, 06:04 PM
Okay, so the theme for tonight is "I Got the Blues: Valentine's Day Blues Block" I would do the dance show, but damned problems with the sound equipment once again are present.

Funny thing is, that day (Feb. 21st) is the date I originally planned for the show to be on.

Ah well, here's to hoping for a mic'd show this time next week.

Posted by: Drew Feb 20 2009, 12:39 PM
NEWS!

Good: Gonna be playin' Guilty Gear OST sheeit tonight, and for tomorrow, techno show is finally awn!

Bad: Still no mic, and I won't bwe able to be in IRC that much since I have a Dynamics test coming up on Monday. ><

See you tonight @ 11 EST, 8 PST!

Posted by: Drew Feb 28 2009, 12:01 PM
I AM NOW MIC'D UP!

Show tonight; Old-school (read no death, black, etc.) metal all the way. Metallica, Megadeth, Crue, Van Halen, AC/DC, Maiden, Priest, and more!!!

EDIT: Show's moved to two weeks from now. Mic still needs to be tweaked a bit.

Posted by: Drew Mar 13 2009, 09:28 AM
Ladies und germs, I shall be giving you the metal starting tonight!

Friday: That Metal Pre-Show (12-2 EST)

Tune in for the ultimate war during the end of the metal block. cool.gif

Edit: Tonight's my last show for a long time. After this week, Hashi's back on the air on Thursdays and Fridays.

Posted by: Drew Apr 5 2009, 05:31 PM
Well guys, maybe we might see a comeback...

I am contemplating coming back this Saturday, with a few changes.

first off, it's now DJ Thir13teen, just to avoid confusion.

secondly, my first few mic shows were utter failures. I'm thinking that if I come back and somewhat script what I plan on saying, we might get somewhere more interesting.

finally, I'm gonna try the entire request show gig; it seems to be a big crowd pleaser.

So I'll see the response in this thread to my possible comeback, and also, if the response is big enough, expect to see Mays Vs Offer to actually go down!

Posted by: Drew Apr 9 2009, 01:57 PM
Bump...

Show's on for 11 PM EST on Saturday Night.

If anyone has some requests that want to be made before then, please post 'em along with the megaupload/rapidshare link.

Posted by: Alastair Apr 9 2009, 07:26 PM
i have a few request's so i will upload them ASAP

OKAY!

SO here we go again! This week, I've decided on doing a newgrounds theme to the show, having audio from my all-time favorite flash movies ever...only problem is that I have no idea what to play music-wise in between. there will be a short 1.5 hour request segment from 11-12:30, or later depending on the # of requests...but other than that, I'm having a hard time deciding on what to play.

It'll either be

jersey rock
Bowie
All-Metallica-All-The-Time
Frank Sinatra

Choose your poison, or I will.

Posted by: kyonpalm Apr 14 2009, 09:54 PM
I vote Bowie.
But not Never Let Me Down, I have that so I call it. laugh.gif

Posted by: Drew Apr 17 2009, 01:46 PM
So it's settled with ONE VOTE!!!!

It'll be Bowie for the second half of the show.

First half will be all requests with bits of flash thrown in for seasoning.

EDIT: Last show for a while. Got finals coming up, so I'll be pretty inactive here for a bit. Next show will be on the 23rd.

Posted by: Drew Apr 30 2009, 07:43 PM
NEW SHOW IS NEW!!!!

Well, after I'm back on the 23rd, get ready to listen in for some movie soundtracks.

Which films, you may ask?

user posted image

Hellz yes.

Also, tune in for the fake trailers, along with some legitimate grindhouse trailers from years past of which I shall be playing at the end of the show.

Posted by: Drew May 16 2009, 06:38 PM
Just a reminder; I'll be back on two Saturdays from now. Any old-school grindhouse trailers or 70's-early 80's era music is appreciated as requests.

Trailers lined up so far:

SPOILER

EDIT: date moved to the 30th; going away to summer place for Memorial day.

Posted by: Drew May 25 2009, 06:27 PM
Just for shits and giggles, I'm gonna begin playing some music during the weeknights, seeing some people are out of college and able to stay up late. No mic right now. I tried to do a mic show a few days ago (drunk show) and the thing went kaput, AKA gave way too much feedback no matter what I did. It was crappy to begin with, so I figure an upgrade is sorely due.

First weekday show; Wednesday at 11 PM, 8 PM Pacific. tune in to find out the genre! wink2.gif

Posted by: BOZZ May 25 2009, 10:24 PM
Oh wow, I didn't know you were doing a show XIII, I'll tune in to your next show on the 30th.

Quickie announcement today...gonna be on this Monday and Wednesday night with an all-request format running from 11-2 EST, or 8-11 PST if you prefer. Hopefully I oughtta be able to get a bunch of shows under my belt by July.

So tune in and let us have some fun!

Monday's all request theme: '80s music (all genres)

Wednesday's all-request theme: Britannia Strikes Back! (All Britpop/British Invasion/NWOBHM)

Posted by: kyonpalm May 31 2009, 09:14 AM
OOf, missed my show, so I was gonna try to get on Monday. pinch2.gif
It's my fault though, so I can do tuesday if you think. wink2.gif

Posted by: BOZZ May 31 2009, 08:08 PM
It was a good show 13... Looking forward to tomorrow's show.

Posted by: Drew Jun 12 2009, 06:11 AM
Okay, I'm gonna have to take a break from radio for awhile. Doing shows here at home can be pretty tough, so I going to have to wait until I start up at rutgers in the fall for me to start back up. I WILL be back, and I do have a couple awesome things planned for my return..... shifty2.gif

Posted by: Drew Jun 25 2009, 05:06 PM
Because of recent events, I have decided to do a Michael Jackson tribute show. I'll be playing some classic songs from the King of Pop, and if anyone has any music they want played, go ahead and send it to me. I'd be glad to play it.

RIP the King of Pop.

Posted by: Alastair Jun 25 2009, 05:08 PM
Aw i guess im not doing to tribute show oh well i will send over some music, remixes of his songs ect.

Posted by: kyonpalm Jun 25 2009, 05:13 PM
I don't have any of his songs on my comp, so I'll definitely tune in.
Same time as usual?

Posted by: Drew Jul 16 2009, 08:49 PM
Well, since it is summer, why not some weekday shows?

I am planning on a 311-Sublime block, an alt-rock block, and even the return of the Blues which will include some amazing Stevie Ray Vaughan tracks.

Dates are all TBA, but I shall be trying to get back into this 110%.

Posted by: Drew Jun 16 2012, 07:40 PM
So,

Anyone want to hear some new shit?

Over my past 3 years, I have built up such a pretentious hipster retro-electro collection of jammage that I feel would be a waste not to share with the other 4-5 people who listen in to the radio. Would anyone be up to hearing some kind of broadcast from me?

Posted by: Nomake Wan Jun 16 2012, 09:42 PM
Make it so.

In short, YES.

How classic are we talking? Has to be 1983 and earlier in my book.

Posted by: Drew Jun 17 2012, 06:14 AM
Wouldn't necessarily be old music, but new music made to sound like the glorious 80s electro age...

Timezones permitting, hell yeah. Considering what I've seen you link everywhere, it'd make awesome background working music.

Reminds me, I need to get around to doing some sort of classic metal/EBM/NDH night one of these days. Too much goddamn music layin' around. laugh.gif
