I've been thinking of getting a good video source for Third and Fourth Stages, but I'm still deciding: Only Pit 2 has Battle Stage, yet I'd like to see Third Stage remastered. Of course, the Full Throttle Collections aren't as expensive, considering they're DVDs compared to Pit 2's BDs. How good of video quality is Full Throttle Collection compared to Pit 2? If you had to give me advice on what to buy, I'd like to hear.

Pit2 is a lot harder to find and will be of higher raw quality. That isn't to say that the transfer is going to be perfect.

Anything with a stupid name like "Full Throttle Collection" or "Fifty Points Ahead Edition" is going to have issues, in my experience. Something is bound to be screwed up.

The only remastering that ever happened was on the Japanese BDs. Everything else used the same source--the VHS masters. That's why the DVDs for Third Stage, for instance, ended up 4:3 letterboxed. It was a different era.

So if you want the best quality you'll find, prepare to blow a shitload of money thanks to Japanese BD prices. If you can't afford it, then any officially-licensed DVD should be the same quality as any other officially-licensed DVD.

Didn't Avex start restricting overseas exports of all their products? Or have they lifted that now?
