I have a small crack at the end of the rubber tubing from the air filter box where it touches the intake manifold. I was thinking about using some silicone to plug up the hole as a temporary fix until I can afford a new tube from the dealer. I drive a 2000 lexus es300. |

Honestly though, you can get rubber hose from an auto parts store, they have it it big rolls. Just get a segment to replace it. This post has been edited by flohtingPoint on Jun 21 2011, 02:01 PM |

The crack starts right at the end of the rubber hose and is splitting from there. I wrapped the crack with electric tape, but the problem is the very end of the hose. I will post a pic as soon as I get a hold of a camera. |

Most of the time it'll get no hotter than coolant temp (180-230F depending on setup) out by the vacuum nipples. |

Snooping as usual Group: Advanced Members Posts: 1,780 Member No.: 32,588 Joined: Apr 13th 2009 Location: what are you doing in my swamp? | I think he's talking about the actual intake hose that goes between the MAF and the throttle. 2 3/4" is too big to attach to a nipple. It's gotta be the intake itself. Silicone is messy and probably overkill. Electric tape should hold it long enough to get a real hose. I doubt an autoparts store would have one, but they could certainly special order it. Get on the phone, get either the dealer or a parts store to get one for you. It shouldn't cost too much, and they should get it in quickly. |

All I need is a drop of silicone so it's not going to get too messy. I just need to know if it can withstand the heat. Silicone has constant properties up to about 250 degrees F. |

Ive also used duck-tape as a band-ade, works incredibly well- But emphasis on band-ade. |
