Might as well bring this up again.

But more so to this question:
What meal set up do you have for daily/weekly? I know I see people make a weeks worth of chicken/broccoli (Maybe carrots) and rice (Not sure which type) but is it lunch and dinner, or breakfast/lunch/dinner all together?

I also know theres supposed to be a 'meal/snack' in between the main meals, but what do you prefer? Yogurt? Nuts/Cheese?

Starting my change in two weeks, just getting this time to prepare and read more into it as well, so links/videos would be great.

Diet is where I'm lacking but due to my style of working out I pretty much get away with just about anything I eat.

Before you decide to diet I suggest you cut bad stuff out first. Stop eating sweets, fast food, no more soda, pretty much all the bad shit for you. Sounds easy but try that for a month and see how it goes.

You should always have a water bottle near by, sipping on water all day. More water you drink the better as thats how the body disposes of toxins and such.

I drink a lot of tea at night just before bed, peppermint being my go to, find something that you like, its helps fight the urge of eating and it calms you to help you sleep better.

Since my previous attempts to get fit on my own has repeatedly failed, I've signed up for a kickboxing class to help keep me more accountable for not showing up.

First class was this morning. Woke up at 3:30am, got to class by 5:30, and was pretty much exhausted by the end of the warm-up. Barely made it through the hour-long class without losing my breakfast, which consisted of a bowl of oatmeal, two hard-boiled eggs, and a can of Monster... which probably was not a good idea, but I needed the caffeine.

My plan is to attend four times per week: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. Figure Wednesday and the weekend can serve as rest/low intensity cardio days.

As for a diet, I'm going to try cutting down on certain foods as per Lonely_Driver's suggestions, replacing them with more healthy alternatives like egg whites, nuts, and vegetables.

Keep the egg whole, unless you're eating a big ass breakfast, then cut down on the yolk, missing a lot of essential fats/other great things in the yolk.

Already watching meal prep videos, one made a breakfast one (Which only consisted of eggs and potatoes) But he gave a good insight, he use 3 egg whites and two whole eggs for one days breakfast. (He did the calculations) but he said to always have a egg yolk in there.

also saw the typical chicken one, so many had no flavor, but the one who did t he breakfast showed him using teriyaki and other spices (Even used a spice marinade that's used for all meat)

Gonna start shopping on friday to get an idea of I need to do. white rice, chicken and broccoli seem like a good weeks start of it.

I try not to eat more than two egg yolks for breakfast. I usually have three eggs: two whole, one egg white. Today, after I posted, I had scrambled eggs, probably the equivalent of one whole egg and two egg whites. So, I ate two whole eggs and three egg whites today, which is coincidentally what the video suggested. smile.gif

For lunch, I had a bowl of escarole and beans soup (ate out at a local pizza shop and figured soup would be a healthier alternative), followed by a pre-made salad.

I'm doing strength training since several years, however, I barely became stronger over the years. I started to think it's getting a waste of time, but then I tried drinking protein drinks since last december after the exercises and now I'm feeling that I'm becoming stronger after each training day little by little and I can see my muscles are growing bigger too. I figured out that I'm a so-called hardgainer. Since I never did anything before to refill my protein stores after the training, my muscles never became stronger.
I wish I started drinking protein drinks already some years ago. pinch2.gif

Random question: Does the whole 'planking' workouts really work?

I know there's like 3 or so variations (Hand/using your arms/one arm for the sides/etc) but do they actually work like the traditional crunch or so?

I prepare food in advance for breakfast, lunch and dinner and just finishing it up. Very comfortably. It helps me save time, because I have a hard work + training schedule. It is important for me to follow the diet. If you are afraid that you will not be getting the necessary amount of vitamins, take nutritional supplements PT 142. It helps me a lot. When it comes to snacks, this is either a protein shake after workout or a peanut butter toast before workout. A wonderful snack for me. If you want to eat, eat nuts, they perfectly satisfy hunger and contain the necessary substances in the body.

I finally came to the conclusion that the "diet" didn't work. I've always thought of dieting as a short term way to lose 5, 10 or 20 pounds. Sure, you lose that weight, but then you stop the diet and it slowly starts to come back. You really have to focus on changing the way you eat FOREVER in order to achieve sustainable change.

The only solution I have found that works in the long run is to eat healthier, healthier, healthier.
Eat more fruits and vegetables - this covers a lot of the basics. Try to cook on your own. Usually canned foods contain a bunch of extra sugar. Supplement your diet with supplements for faster recovery and increased stamina such as this bundle. You can look in the direction of amino acids. You can not worry - they do not accumulate, they will do their job in the process of metabolism, then you pee - and they will leave the body.

Naturally cut out high-glycemic non-fiber foods such as sugar, soda, juice, white rice, etc.
Well, move move move. It is not obligatory to carry iron. Come on... so many ways. Even an hour-long walk will pass for activity

I find that making an effort to not eat carbs is worth it. Also just eating just enough to not be hungry, but don't feel like stuffing yourself until you can't eat another bite. Also, stay away from Culver's.

Like your comment! Diet is not equal to healthy eating at all. Healthy eating is a thing that should be done all the time. Strict restrictions from eating favorite food are also bad for mental and physical health. Counting calories helps me - I know exactly what I can eat during the day, and how much, and calculate so that I can eat a piece of cake if I want.
You can also exercise to give your body a beautiful shape - swimming, cycling - but make sure you have a right bike, https://www.bikethesites.com/mountain-bike-vs-road-bike/, going to the gym, and lifting weights - whatever you want

QUOTE (Meteor @ May 2 2016, 07:52 AM)
Before we inevitably reach the point where someone reading all this gives up because they're not getting the weight loss they want, I'd like to point out the obvious fact that fat mass isn't exactly all of a person's weight. Depending on how much muscle you put on or how much calcification you get in your bones, it's entirely possible to have your weight go up even if you're actually thinning out. This is why some of the more advanced fitness people will tell you that weight loss is straight up bullshit and that fat loss is what you should really be aiming for.

So yeah, unless you're a professional fighter trying to make it into a specific weight class, you don't need to pay too much attention to the weight scale. All that matters is you're getting stronger and losing the fat.

You're absolutely right, and I appreciate you shedding light on this often misunderstood aspect. Weight loss is far from a straightforward measure of progress. It's not solely about the number on the scale but rather the composition of your body. Muscle gain and even changes in bone density can indeed lead to shifts in weight that don't reflect fat loss accurately.

Those who delve deeper into fitness and well-being often stress the importance of focusing on fat loss and body composition. It's about feeling healthier, gaining strength, and reducing fat rather than just chasing a lower weight. Unless you have specific goals tied to weight categories, like professional fighters, the scale can be misleading.
