Like an eagle! Group: SITE OWNER Posts: 8,014 Member No.: 1 Joined: Sep 15th 2002 Location: San Leandro, California | Since it's already two weeks after the air date of Episode 3 & 4, it's safe to talk about things from those two episodes without using spoiler tags. But there are still things happened in the manga that has yet to appear in the anime, for that please use spoiler tags. And before you ask me why I didn't make this post in the Fifth Stage thread, yes this deserves its own thread. In Fifth Stage Episode 4, after Bunta took the 86 for a spin, he said the 86 is really fine-tuned and can really go fast with the current setup, but it's still not enough for the "final step." He proceed and said "it can't be helped. I guess I have to be prepared. That'll be the last thing I can do for Takumi." The last favor still hasn't been disclosed yet in the latest manga chapters. So.. what could it be? What could Bunta's last favor for Takumi be? Personally, I can think of a few things:
That's all I can think of for now. What do you think? Share your thoughts on what Bunta could possibly do for Takumi as a last favor. |

Whether he is improving it with some god-like AE86-specific mechanical witchcraft or just manipulate it so that Takumi finally looses...who knows, we will have to wait |

EDIT: BTW i have a question for you guys , but it contains spoiler for those who don't watch the manga

At first I thought it would be that Bunta would take Takumi for a drive and show him what he is lacking in his technique, but seeing as how they are at the last battle, probably is not the case. Although, it still could be if they show like, a flash back or something. I don't think there is something Bunta will add. How could he? Ryouske already has more in the car than the car is worth (including that group 'A' 20V). It has to be something...unconventional. Something they even Project D wouldn't have tthought of, only something that 20+ years of racing could comprehend. And Takumi would probably only discover it at like the last 5 turns of losing the race! Or, maybe Bunta knows shinji (see spoiler in previous post). Who knows...It's driving me mad... Jose

They already got wider tyres after the crash with God-Hand. But, what shall bunta do? I really don't know. Maybe a roll-cage and weight reduction and new clutch with new gearbox.

Takumi hasn't lost yet and I remember him saying in 2nd stage that he hasn't felt what it's like to really lose yet. Kind of stupid but would be interesting lol. |

a wing and splitter will slow him down because downforce = drag the more drag you have the slower you go but the more grip you gain in corners, you have increased tire wear and more stress on suspension components which means the whole care needs to be tuned to accept that level of performance. a simple way to explain it for those who aren't tech savy is downforce is like adding a constant weight to the car. the faster you go the more weight is added, the more weight added the more the engine, suspension, and everything else in the car becomes stressed, the slow you go the less down force you have. it's a trade off with lots of cons but the pros are increased grip and predictable handling. at that point i dont think the 4age can even keep up anymore unless the car was completely lightened to the max it compensate for the downforce.
he lost once.... when bunta was testing his new impreza This post has been edited by s12drifter on Jan 3 2013, 12:51 PM

Anyway, I just want a final battle between Takumi and Bunta. If that's his "final favor" then so be it, as long as I get to see them properly race. |

Request Title - PM Mods Group: Members Posts: 438 Member No.: 6,105 Joined: Mar 11th 2005 Location: Ankara/Turkey | One quick thing, -he doesn't actually say it will be the last favor he will do for Takumi, as he uses the ''kana?'' at the end.I've transcripted that phrase if anyone else wants to comment too. ''俺はアイツにしてやれる事はこれが最後になるかな?'' It's more of a thought rather than a decision for Bunta,so I don't think a Bunta-Takumi race could occur. |

My bet he is going to do some kind of small change to the car like he did in first stage before Takumi battle with Ryosuke.

I can't really think of anything else that a father could do for his son. The thing is, I don't think Takumi would like it since I believe he expressed no interest in becoming a professional racer. |

Something like a step by step instructional guide in the secret of being the fastest in touge racing. Not just letting Takumi sit in the passenger while Bunta drive him off at downhill Akina for a spin. Not also letting Takumi race against him downhill, and not also pieces of principles that constitute the theory of how to be the fastest in the touge. It would be up to the very last detail. |

Lol, i hope you know that bunta's engine: the 2.0 EJ20K/G has 10 more horsepower than the AE86 of Takumi. And it is nearly impossible to install 4WD on a AE86... Never saw it actually. I heard from some story someone wrote: maybe bunta get;s an old AE86 with 130HP. And let him use that thing to practice. He will discover new things what he could not do in the past.

Loool , a 4WD in ae86 would make it too heavy and too slow , so it's useless.

Shmuck Group: Members Posts: 2 Member No.: 39,679 Joined: Dec 10th 2012 Location: Update Profile | I realize I'm new and female and wouldn't know a damn thing about cars but I do definitely know something about mother-daughter father-son relationships and in ALL the stages Bunta has never failed in his teaching Takumi though he did wonder about Takumi figuring out the rev seal during stage 2. I'm putting the rest of this into a spoiler since I don't know how much this will:
Remember that Ryosuke is always saying how mountain racing is more fun than circuits because of the challenges they face? Maybe Bunta's of the same mind with a difference. I don't know what that is but it's definitely not about improving that car because that part is totally over. and I think that the story follows that Takumi learns 1 or 2 major lessons about drifting in each Stage.... How about taking him to race on the circuit? it's a whole different environment I was told.

Here it is - the AE86 with 4WD: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v204/bub.../00000089ua.jpg I don´t know if it has a Subaru engine, but I think it wouldn´t stand a chance in a Race (Uphill or Downhill). And here http://honda-tech.com/showthread.php?t=2763036 is a Honda Civic with Subaru engine and 4 WD - so it would be possible to convert the AE86 too This post has been edited by Taro Maki on Jan 6 2013, 09:44 AM

A Wing can improve the car traction in mid-high speed coners and reduce the braking distance (at mid-high speed coners) , driving under 200 km/h it won't affect your acceleration and can barely affect your high speed...No way a wing can increase the tire wear because they are used to reduce the tire spining/sliding...It will add ((weight)) when you need it, when the car is already going fast and you're losing traction... Sorry if I sound rude...

Actually at the end of 3rd stage Takumi told Natsuki that he wanted to improve as a driver and become a professional racer. To be the fastest! [ Post made via Mobile Device ]
