Drifting in GT4 sucks, and, the Corolla is garbage in anything except brutal lightweight time attacks in that game, save up 32 thousand credits, and buy the HPA R32 Golf. Then, go to special conditions race, and do the Costa di Amalfi beginner events. You get a $256,000 Toyota RSC Rallycar. Sell it, and continue to do that race, until you have enough credits for the Audi A4 DTM car. You should be set for a while when you get that. If you want to drift, GT3 has better physics for that, or just get Live For Speed for the PC.

instead of getting the audi get a lancia stratos that's the fastest car in the 300 hp range. you might also want to get roll bar's cause at high speed's it's unstable. when finely tuned it get's the job done. on top of that it still kinda drift's when you let of the gas complately during a turn. look for my setting at gtvault.com might be posting them up today. grin2.gif

and take off the driving aid's to

EDIT: yeah i'm sure the audi ant more EXPENSIVE than the stratos! anyway i just finished posting the setting it's under the name jeffwins24

The A4 DTM car has 550bhp, and racing slicks, it is definatly way better.

it has understeer in modern cars mostly. why? because modern cars are designed that way, and even in real life, you have to adjust the suspension to overcome the understeer that manufacturer had diealed in for safety. Older cars handle better because back then there was no wussies in the charge.

^ That, and most modern cars have safety systems in place that induce understeer by making the tires skip excessivly to prevent lock-up (Pathetic ABS) so that drivers are protected during emergencies, so says the manufacturor dry.gif

Understeer also steams from other places than just modern cars.
Every car has the majority of the tire load placed upon the front tires when entering a corner with very little rear tire load until you cross the middle of the corner, at the exit the load shifts towards the rear however.

But the major reason for the understeer in GT4 is that most people apply too much wheel when turning, increasing the slip angle of the front tires and thus making them lose grip...
It can be overcome with practice though, and at the end of that day you may be thinking that GT4 has too much oversteer sometimes heh.

^ hes right you just got to not slam on the brake's during a turn. at first when i got gt4 i took off the aid's and i kept on understering. until i started using the brake less and started using engine braking more.

and MattSAF1 what you said up there about the AE86 being garbage. then how is it the the 86 can get similar lap time's like my lotus elise?

Don't worry too much about car settings and whatnot, as long as you make sure TCS and ACS oversteer are set to 0. You can turn up ACS understeer if you want, but personally I think you're better off without it. Too many driving aids hinder your sense of the car's behavior. The best way to drift is to learn the basics of weight shifting and brake/throttle/steering modulation, and practice.

The Corolla is garbage. I can pull better lap with other cars(See my stock SS Trueno under 8min).

Both Live For Speed & Enthusia Professional racing have a more complete physique over GT4. I have the DFP & can pull good lap on both controller & wheel.

You can't gain speed by using engine braking unless you shift down twice as the last downshift isn't using engine braking. Engine Braking cannot be done in GT4. Slamming the brake while cornering in GT4 is more rewarding than most can think. smile.gif

Most player fuss around with the tires to make the game more realistic. Though, I did some test between GT4 & Enthusia on youtube. Even if you mess up the corner, in GT4, the car keep going foward & almost don't lose speed. You can gan time by shortening your line or focusing on keeping up the speed. On all best lap ever posted online, hairpin turn have very bad apex.

Stock roadgoing trueno beats SS version when given similar amout of power, weight and suspension modifications. why? Because there's more torque, and on way more useable rev range and shifts don't take three seconds.. This has been proved multiple times on GTPlanet.

and Live for speed can't actually be used in this comparison, since it's a computer game, designed for entirely different resources. Enthusia then.. well, I can tell you that enTHUsia is almost as arcadeish as F&F-game or NFS. the cars sound good but then they drive like they'd be rolling on marbles.

I made 2 video on youtube.

One with GT4 & the other with Enthusia.

GT4:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lYgTJysPnLE

Enthusia:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BbD9bTVQ6A

The steering input, acceleretion & braking is a lot more accurate in Enthusia. Also it have been proven with the Top Gear show from UK that GT4 is far from being as sim, because you correct the angle by braking. I can pull some tricky brake like braking near the apex while turning to gain time. In a real car, you won't gain any speed by doing it, but just throw the car in the grass, the same goes with Forza.

In this kind of turn event, I will even say that PGR3 is more accurate than GT4. Time & speed don't stack at all, but the car engine sound is better & you brake longer than GT4 to gain more speed. Very odd huh?

well yeah, players do fuss around with tyres, because they don't think that '49 Beetle came with semislicks that are the default tyres in GT4. and Enthusia doesn't allow you to fuss around with the tyres even that little amount, since the upgrades are automatical, and "adjusting" them is more like guessing.

Also, I haven't seen or heard that any car manufacturer would has used Enthusia as their demo cd when introducing their cars. BMW has used GT4, and so has few other manufacturer. Why would they do that if it isn't realisti enough?

And since I've played Enthusia, I can tell that controlling slides etc is way too easy in that game. no need to play with throttle or steering, just smash the throttle and keep it like that. realistic? no. Even Daihatsu hijet 1000awd van needs throttle control when the grip is exceeded.

but, anyways, these are mere opinions, so I'll leave this here.

i would have to agree with fin toy cause i have to use throttle control with my dome zero everytime i'm half way around a corner otherwise if i where to floor it i would kinda spin out and hit the wall.

Also if your looking for a game that's realistic toca race driver 3 is kinda cool too.

Actually the reason Enthusia feels easier is that you do not turn the wheel NEARLY as fast as you do in GT4 plus you are assisted by a G meter.
If you want to truly feel the snapback in Enthusia I suggest you go maximum oversteer by letting BOTH rear tires "Get red" and lose grip, when that happens in a RWD machine in that game you are in danger territory if you ain't careful.

Plus Enthusia quickly makes you feel the difference between an old and a new car unlike GT4 where the feeling mostly steams from the lap times.
In my eyes Enthusia has achieved more than GT4, sadly they haven't learned proper 2 Player when it comes to car choices, in GT4 it is a broader range of cars and unlocking more isn't as much a pain in the ass as it is on Enthusia.

the only gay bit about GT4's drifting is the mass snapback when u counter for like no time. so gay, just tap teh stick and around u go, pisses me off so much

ny the way, was enthusia released in australia?, cos i havt been able to find it anywhere.

How old are you?

It's so obvious. If you want to sell, you need a popular product that everyone know. Gran Turismo is a great publicity for that kind of product, but doesn't represent the quality of the Gran Turismo as a sim. There's millions of people that got a PS2 sure if a car maker will sponsor GT4, obviously the game will sell, coz people will buy it.

Live for Speed is a great simulation game with fake car, but you know, only the enthusiast know about it. If I was a car maker, I would choose a game with car that look close to the real thing visually. I trust way more Top Gear show than those silly rich guy that only plublish false information to make people believe a fantasy.

There's plenty of crap when money is in stake.

I even shown you on video the difference between Enthusia & GT4 on the Nordschleife. you can clearly see on the wheel that Enthusia is more realistic.

You can wish a lot to make you believe that tuning will create you miracle laps, but within the same rules, the driver player skill always win. tongue.gif

So using Supersoft tires is a lot realistic? Dang with a tuned car with only a rear wing can beat a F1? I didn't know that!!! w00t2.gif

and you say that tyres that don't wear out are realistic, eh? I'd buy set of those right away.. and in some racing events it's allowed to use softer compound tyres in qualification laps. I use them only when I'm trying to push some car to top speed.

BUT, that's your opinion, and I have mine. opinions are like a-holes, everyone has one. I respect your opinion, as much as I disagree with it.

FYI, I'm about as old as you are, so.. makefun.gif
