Lol the GT86 has the original license plate for the AE86. Legend 2 wasn't that good imo so i don't know if i'm going to see this one.

I didn't notice that it was nearly identical (1 number is missing tongue.gif) until now...

So any word yet on what happens in Legend 3 (well besides the obvious lol)?

From what I've read, it's mostly dialog and only one battle. Sileighty race doesn't happen, but the girls are watching the big race against Ryosuke. GT86 is in the movie for all of a few minutes and it's a Third Stage result where we're never told who wins that race.

Honestly, I haven't heard much of anything besides the same sort of reviews Legend 2 received: "it was okay, I guess."

I guess that means that this is it for Initial D after all, I was expecting some sort of epilogue.

Nope. It's just a money grab. I'm surprised that they pulled Shigeno out of mothballs to even comment on the movies, considering he's barely involved in them. It only served to rile up rumors that he was getting back into the series.

The legend of Tak will never die Bozz! mwuhahahahahah~

We still gotta pressure Funimation to release 5th, 6th, and the movies in laughably hilarious English... I hope they add Scottish voices too. A highlander accent on Shinji would top this xiao's cake....

Go oot with a bang Funi!! Hell, just put it on some BD-R's and I'll still buy that shit! biggrin.gif

They won't because there's no money in it. Initial D is one of those series' that gets pirated far more than it is legitimately purchased.

So true Tess... sad.gif

They could always go the AnimEigo route and release the rest with plain subtitles though. It's not that hard to put out a couple of Blu Rays on a Best Buy/Walmart shelf, let alone Amazon where actual-physical anime is the most alive. No need to market it or dub it either. I just want 3rd and 4th re-released on BD, then 5th and Final as well.

1st, 2nd, and the films can go burn in an HKS exhaust for all I drift~ ^^;

Funimation doesn't license series' for "sub only" release, last I checked. There might be a few stragglers in their library, though.

Even if they went that route, where's the money? Subs for Fifth and Final Stages have been out for years, on this very site among others. There are countless uploads on Youtube. It's everywhere except officially on shelves for purchase. Who would pay money besides the die-hard enthusiasts, when you've been able to see it free of charge for so many years? Running with that ball, why would Funimation invest in licensing if they already have a poor financial outlook for the series in the US market? Would they even come close to recouping the costs of bringing it here? I mean, look at how quickly they yanked the original sets from shelves and replaced them with the SAVE editions. No bueno.

Nobody even gave enough of a shit to try and revive the license for the manga after Tokyopop lost it. What does that tell you about Initial D's marketing success? Two companies tried and failed to bring it here. No sane company will try for a triple unless they can seriously lowball Kodansha and/or manufacture it on the extreme cheap. We're talking "late 80's US anime market" cheap standards of quality. 2.0 audio! Shitty aspect ratio! VHS master source! laugh.gif

I dunno, it still makes my brain self-implode seeing the R2 DVD's sell for 50 dollars in Japan...

Sometimes I forget that America & the rest of the world don't share the same culture that spends 100 bucks on hug-pillows. xD

I just want a trophy-looking box that says Initial D on my shelf; welp, time to print that double ace 4th stage poster to make my room office look super pimp instead! biggrin.gif

Go buy the old manga box set that came with the die cast cars. It's a big enough box to mess around with.

I don't get this part : "...we're never told who wins that race." You mean there is a battle between AE86 and GT86 ?

Yes, at the very end. It fades out well before anything significant happens.

Well, I think the new 86 could win that battle. If there someone in that car that is better than takumi.

Read the post. It's an unknown, and it doesn't matter because it was just thrown in as fanwank for kids to nut to.
