don't know if these would cause any copyright issues:

though, i doubt that this sort of thing in general (ie. a sticker) would cause any issues...

I'm surprised no one else touched on your copyright question. This would almost certainly attract trouble, because you used the "D" from the Initial D logo. I'd have to say we can't use this for that reason (unfortunately.) It does look good though. smile.gif

Simple is better for stickers, weeding complex stickers is a giant pain and can drive costs up depending on who we have cut them. We wanted to do a QR code sticker for a local club to redirect to our website, but the prototype was bigger than desired and still impossible to weed. To keep the more busy stickers a reasonable size (7" long to fit, say, an Evo triangle window) there'd be a LOT of tiny text, and beyond the weeding, getting it all to stick well due to lower adhesive area is a pain as well in application and can sacrifice longevity at the same time.

So, my vote goes to dmhc69's submission, they're simple, have a recognizable part of the logo, and with a web address will get the point across simply. The MitsuStyle sticker is a very similar simple, yet effective design:

As for my submission, Honda reminded me that I have this still floating around:

I took the colors of the forum as backround and the colors of Initial D.

I like this, nice job.

I made one real quick at work with the Paint program. I'll try creating some more tonight when I get home on Illustrator. Hopefully we can get a poll going so we can have a vote some time soon once everyone has uploaded their ideas.

Show me proof that that logo is copyrighted and I'd agree with you but I doubt this would be a problem. As Perry said the kanji and typesetting (of kanji) might be but the way he laid it out isn't the same.

So yeah.

So yeah.

I think if any part of the logo is copyrighted, it'd be the the "D" with its stylized streaks extending leftward to the rest of whatever text is behind it.

I can't find any info on whether it's copyrighted or not, mostly because I don't really know where to look. But do you think it's a good idea to not know, make the logo using part of theirs and hope it isn't copyrighted so you don't get sued? Which sounds worse to you? wink2.gif

Play it safe. Until you know you can use it, don't use it.

There are a million fonts on the internet that're cloned from movie titles and whatnot. I don't see the issue.

And if it's really a problem? Change the number of stripes in the bottom of the D, copyrights don't apply to things that are different.

Sadly the post selection function on the mobile skin is broken or I would have quoted Spaz's post. I completely agree and he made the point I wanted to make better than I did.

For reference, Macross Plus's logo is Kernel Alternate SSi.

I'm with Spaz. It would be very cool to settle on a design that had some sort of connection to the series whether it be through design or a specific design element.

It worked last I used it, which was yesterday at work. I work tomorrow, so I can test it then...

^I have to agree smile.gif

EDIT: Not sure if that black line in it would be easy to weed out though. Wonder what Spaz has to say.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys, actually that black line was inspired from the the tofu sticker in the old IDv3 arcade machines placed below the seats, which resembles the panda trueno happy.gif

Dammit Alex stop being so awesome.

@Spaz: Apparently there was a huge problem with the site's Javascript and it was only recently fixed.
