Initial D World - Discussion Board / Forums > Anime and Manga > So what anime are you currently watching?

Posted by: RalliKai Sep 1 2012, 08:05 AM
I'm currently running through Blue Gender which never really hit off with alot of people from my understanding. First watched some episodes in the early 2000s but never watched the series in its entirety.

Also watching Sword Art Online and have been re-watching episodes of Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040 from time to time.

The only 2 new anime of the past seasons I'm currently keeping up with is Sword Art Online and Accel World, nothing else has really caught my interest. I thought that Campione and Famiglia might do it, but I just wasn't a fan of either.

Posted by: Tessou Sep 6 2012, 06:43 AM
I don't watch new stuff anymore because very little of the new crop really interests me.

However, in anticipation of the Berserk movies coming stateside in a few months, Cecilia and I went and watched the entire anime series over the past week. smile.gif

I also honored it by setting up my character in Dragon's Dogma with Griffith's armor.

At the moment I'm watching Space Brothers. Premise might sound dull but it has a rather good story. And a great sense of humour.

Posted by: Tuskano Sep 8 2012, 02:51 AM
Right now it is Moretsu Pirates... pretty cool story and the artwork is very good. I forget how I first found it, but I am suprised I have yet to watch this.

At this moment, I am watching:
  • Sword Art Online
  • Space Brothers
  • Gundam Seed
  • Macross
  • Initial D (duh)

Nothing that exciting since I can't handle too many series at one time. I get confused and I often just drop them since I don't have the time or the patience to watch them. I really want to watch CODE:BREAKER though, sounds interesting. There are also a few other shows I kinda want to marathon through but I forget at the moment. derp.gif

Currently watching Kingdom and Kuroko no Basuke. However I still prefer the manga for KnB.... Although there will not be any basketball manga/anime that can beat Slam Dunk, at least for some time.

Been watching To Aru Majutsu up to Episode 5, not sure if I should continue. The action scenes are cool, but some characters annoy me to no end.

You gotta watch Gundam 00 after SEED (If you haven't see it). It is one of the better Gundam series (to me at least). And the 3 major world powers in Gundam 00 somehow mirrors our world.

Posted by: Nomake Wan Sep 25 2012, 12:00 AM
00 was Gundam Wing, though (for one season anyway)... I dunno, if I had to label a Gundam series with 'better' I'd have to put that label on 0083 or 08th MS Team. cool.gif

I couldn't say much about 0083 or 8th MS Team; mainly because I only watched from Wing onward. UC-wise I did enjoy Char's counterattack.

Posted by: RalliKai Sep 26 2012, 06:19 AM
I never really followed Seed and I gave up on 00 sometime in the middle of the whole series. As much as I may dislike Wing, I enjoyed it more than 00. Maybe that's just nostalgia talking since it was my first exposure to the Gundam franchise.

I'd still rate 8th MS Team as my favorite with 0083 being up there aswell. UC > all other timelines. cool.gif

Posted by: r3d$unz Sep 26 2012, 10:45 AM
Decided to give Campione a chance... And even though there are extremely...awkward moments I'm slowly beginning to get into the story and enjoy it. Definitely not the best I've seen of this season but entertaining enough.

I'm watching Seitokai Yakuindomo now. I already watched 8 episodes last night because it's so damn crazy. The sad thing is that the series only have 13 episodes. I hope there will be a second season anytime.

They keep making OVAs, with the next one being in February. I think they're just killing time until a second season...

...unless they're pulling a Kiss x Sis and doing an entire second season through OVAs due to questionable content. Uhuhuhuhuhu. awesome.gif

Gonna be watching quite a few shows this season. I saw the first ep of Shin-Sekai Yori, and that looks pretty good. Also just finished watching the fist ep of Wooser, which is just going to be a series of shorts. It's pretty good too, I like the style.

Posted by: Nerubian Oct 3 2012, 03:06 PM
Oh f*ck, I totally forgot those OVAs.

Posted by: K3vin Oct 3 2012, 04:45 PM
- Sword Art Online (best anime at the moment even going into the novels)
- Oda Nobuna no Yabou (finishing it)
- Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon II
- Rewatching 1st and 3rd stage Initial D (recently bought the sets)
- Few OVA's of various anime

Any anime some can recommend? That are similar to the ones mentioned? I'm trying to get into Accel World, just can't seem to get used to the MC.

Well I just finished watching Gundam Seed. Needless to say I'm impressed; I kinda want to build the METEOR unit now. Is that bad? Anyhow, so what's next? Gundam 0083? I don't think I'll be able to invest myself in a long series like Gundam Seed Destiny any time soon because I have way too many other things to do. So I need something short. RECOMMENDATIONS MODE ENGAGE! awesome.gif

Destiny was good until episode 35, then it turned into some serious BS. If you're completionist then yeah, give it a watch, but otherwise...ehhh...eh. Watch up to episode 34 and consider it over. laugh2.gif

0083 was spectacular, as was 08th MS Team. Highly recommended, that. Definitely highly recommended. If you haven't seen Char's Counterattack or F91, there's that too. Oh, or the Zeta movies. Also good stuff.

As for the METEOR unit... http://www.gundampro.com/meteor_with_freedom.php awesome.gif

Most of the ongoing anime that I watched have finished their runs, so currently I'm not following anything much. When is the next anime season? It's an irony that when you have so much time in the holidays, there is nothing to watch but during the busiest times of my semester I always have like 3-4 series to follow. sweatingbullets.gif

Only 6 episodes? Are there anime series that ever had such a small amount of episodes? Maybe fifth stage will have several seasons that contains 6 episodes?

FLCL was 6 episodes, IIRC. Normally, series that are that short are just called OVAs.

Posted by: Chidoki Oct 6 2012, 02:11 PM
There's going to be more episodes than 6, that's just a list of all the anime of that season and Initial D will be around for more seasons at that pace. For those who remember Initial D episodes releases back in 4th stage at the time they only announced 14 episodes total in 2004 to 2005, and just showed the next 2 episodes on their website every 2 months until it finished up to 24 episodes.

EDIT: I don't use the twitter, so someone who uses that thing should probably do what it says on the bottom of the chart. It's still a much more complete, easy-to-read and accurate chart than the first one, but that is a pretty glaring mistake. Tweet the guy so he can fix it kthx.

Thanks Kyon and Nomake. The new season looks good, but then again some series may prove to be disappointing halfway. For starter I would try Btooom, Zetsuen no Tempest, K, JoJo, Sukitte, and Psycho-pass. Of course, ID and Code Breaker are must-watches for me. happy.gif

Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai!

Recently picked up Panty and Stocking again.
I kind of forgot how insane that show is. But I love it.

Posted by: r3d$unz Oct 10 2012, 06:50 AM
Watched the first episode of Code:Breaker, Little Busters, Ixion Saga DT and Btoom! last night, and out of those 4, I enjoyed Code: Breaker the most. Btoom! seems to have a very interesting setting, I like the fact they use bombs and nothing else but smarts to fight, but I have a feeling the main character is gonna annoy me more than make me root for him.

Little Busters is enjoyable if you're looking for that "Slice of Life" series but I've got plenty of that with Chuunibyo. Though the dynamics between the group is interesting.

Ixion Saga DT seems like a parody, that's not a parody of pretty much the fantasy genre itself, it seems to be a lot of fun and I'll keep watching. I squealed a little bit at the Monster Hunter reference at the beginning. laugh.gif

Code:Breakers is a tough one, I liked it, but disliked it, I enjoyed it but I was annoyed that I did laugh.gif again, the setting is interesting, the male lead is refreshingly interesting, the dynamics between the characters we've been introduced to so far is interesting. But there's one thing that just irked me.

Because Elfen Lied. No, actually, it's just Ao no Exorcist S2. Bwahahaha. awesome.gif

Little Bastards is a fun show, but I'm likely only watching it because it's Key and I love those guys. It also gives me an excuse to put off a full play-through of the game. BTOOOM! looks like it'll be interesting but it's still on my 3-episode-test list. I have decided, however, that during the next two episodes whenever a bomb goes off I will vocalize the BTOOOM! bit. It'll likely make watching it easier.

Also saw Busou Shinki (pretty much exactly as expected there, though I now wish my toys would get up and sign for packages for me so I'd have less pink slips!) and Girls und Panzer (get Hiryuu's subs, Commie's are horrendous). Girls und Panzer is another three-episode-test series for me. I mean, I know that the same dude who worked on Strike Witches and Upotte! is on the team but... meh. We'll see.

Ah, and the new Code Geass is pretty awesome though it'll be a lot better once we have a proper broadcast instead of the ugly PSN upscale stuff.

Still have to give K, Onii-chan, Sukitte and PetKano a watch to see if I'll be following those. Planning on doing that soon, like within the next hour or so. I'm bored with nothing else to do at the moment so why not!

Ah, but I see that today is gonna be AWESOME. Both PSYCHO-PASS and Robotics;Notes air today! WOOHOO! w00t2.gif

Not sure what it is about, but I'll give it a try. Let's hope it's good enough to keep my interest past the third episode or so:P

Tried some of the titles I mentioned, so far only Code Breaker, Zetsuen no Tempest and Sukitte look promising. CB is awesome, but the pace is going rather slow. With that much amount of shit that happened in the manga, it would probably take them like 50+ episodes to cover even half of everything.
ZnT has gorgeous art, but the storyline isn't really to my liking. I'm watching for the art mostly.
Sukitte would be another interesting shoujo anime. I don't watch shoujo usually (prefer reading mangas only) but this looks like it would be worth following.
I don't think I would be following Psycho-pass anymore; it appears to be just another story overloaded with guns and bishonens, with a weak main female character.
K was rather..... weird. Opening was cool and awesome, but some characters are annoying me a lot.
I have yet to watch JoJo and Btoom. Will pass my judgment after I'm done with the first episodes. laugh2.gif

Posted by: Nomake Wan Oct 14 2012, 03:12 AM
Watched the first two episodes of K and am hooked. The OST is great (reminds me of KamiMemo), the comedy is wonderful (if you get to the end of episode 2 you'll see what I mean) and, most importantly, NAKED CATGIRL. That's what really matters here. So yeah, I'm loving it.

Finally watched Robotics;Notes. Quoting Quattro Bajeena constantly for the win, I'm enjoying it so far. Good stuff.

Just watched SakuraPet (Sakurasou no Pet na Kanojo) yesterday and within a single episode confirmed it for regular watching. It didn't even take two episodes to decide, let alone three. I should've been watching it already! I haven't seen episode 3 yet--waiting on some people to watch it with--but I absolutely love the series. The MC's reactions are hilarious to listen to. Watched the second episode of Robotics: Notes last night and I think I might follow it through to the end. My list is beginning to really grow:

- SAO
- Chuunibyo
- K
- Exion Saga: DT

Not to mention Super Sentai and Tokusatsu. Ugh...where do I find the time...

I'm out of new episodes to watch in this week, since most of the titles I'm following come out on weekends. That is to say, I'm extremely busy on weekends and Mondays. happy.gif Some don't get subbed until Tuesdays though.

So my list goes something like this, in no particular order:
Code Breaker
JoJo's Bizarre Adventures
Sukitte Iinayo
Btooom
Zetsuen no Tempest
Kingdom (running from last season)

And to think that this is my final semester, and I'm supposed to study like crazy. laugh2.gif

THERE WE GO! Thanks for confirming that for me. I just remember that part of the movie because... well yeah. I thought that was the funny part. How could I forget it was a white FD... That's my car yo. laugh.gif

It's white... but I am not seeing any connection with the names. The guy who played the owner of the FC (a Policman) in Summer Wars is Yutaka Shimizu. He doesn't have a wiki and is not listed in the Initial D list of characters.

Posted by: THE_HONDA_CG2 Nov 17 2012, 08:29 PM
Well I don't have the movie to rewatch on hand right now, but pursuing though the threads, I found almost exactly what I was looking for! https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=17613&view=findpost&p=1200019 I also vividly remember this scene too. Yeah, I need to watch this movie again along with The Girl Who Leapt Through Time.

J. Michael Tatum is the voice actor for Wabisuke Jinnouchi in Summer Wars and Ryosuke Takahashi. Sorry for the mix up, I was referring to the English dub since that is the version that I first watched. I think they did a good job with the dub, so if you haven't seen it yet, and you have the time; check it out. smile.gif

Posted by: Tuskano Nov 17 2012, 08:48 PM
AH! No, I have just been watching the subs. Though I did watch the Girl Who Leapt through time last night dubbed.

So that's what you meant. Good find biggrin.gif

Another irony of me watching all the funimation dub of Initial D Stage 1 to 4 since 5th Stage started.

Posted by: Tuskano Nov 20 2012, 03:45 AM
Well, after Summer Wars, I decided to look at other movies on youtube and eventually got to watching all the 130 minutes of Bonjour Galaxy Express 999. For a anime made in 1979, it was pretty alright. Although some parts were just entertaining to watch. I might go into the next movie, Adieu Galaxy Express 999 just to see the older Tetsuro tongue.gif.

It's all Tuskano's fault! I watched Summer Wars today. And before that The Girl Who Lept Through Time and Triguns: Badlands Rumble. Probably the most random selection of movies ever, but that was on the top of my watch pile and I wanted to get them out of the way. I'm going to see if I can pick up both of the Eden of the East movies soon to watch those again. Gosh, I love that series. While I'm at it I guess I might rewatch Baccano! for the third time. tongue.gif

Watching Summer Wars, Trigun Badlands and Girl Who Leapt Through Time isn't as random as you think cuz i was watching parts of those 3 the last few days ago. And I even watched Clannad for the first time and just finished it also a few days ago, just coincidence. Though I started Clannad After Story this weekend and To Love Ru, haven't really watched To Love Ru since I was only reading the manga at the time.

theres only a handfull of series ive rewatched, all Minami-Ke 2x, Lucky Star 2x, Mai Hime 3x. Initial D 3x, Shiki 2x, Okami Kakushi 2x, Fate stay 3x, gindam seed and destiny, OO and OO season 2 2x

Posted by: kou yuuzhen Nov 28 2012, 03:41 AM
Currently the animes I watch on weekly basis are only Code Breaker and Btooom. I've not really given up on the others though; planning to watch all one-shot, instead of waiting for each new episode to come out.

I don't usually re-watch the series that I have finished, except for a few. Initial D definitely (about 5x for Stages 1-2, less for the others), Shakugan no Shana season 1, Basilisk, Yu-gi-oh! season 1, Vampire Knight season 1, and Full Metal Panic! all seasons, because they're all just damn funny.

Which leads me to realise that I usually lose interest over an anime if it drags on for too long. 1-2 seasons are the best; more than 100 episodes is too much for me, since I have a short attention span. But I don't mind for ID though. More is better tongue.gif

Nope, just a long delayed one-shot movie (probably by the cult following fans) that many times was close to never going to be made but still got made.

I just (finally) got around to watching my Sound of the Sky (Or So Ra No Wo To, whichever you prefer) yesterday...it was kind of a weird trip for me; At first on impulse I thought it would be a militaristic show, then as I watched it I noticed it was kind of similar to K-On! with a military backdrop, and while I generally don't care for "slice of life" genres (The name of such a genre makes me want to punch babies in frustration), I surprisingly found myself liking this more than I ever did with K-On!, and I enjoyed K-On!...I forgave it for not being up to my initial impression, since it was a clever blend of the mundane comedy with some surprisingly dark drama, with CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT, how! God, just that point makes me want to disavow any comparisons to K-On!...It's written with almost a theatrical feel, and the studio went out of their way with the animation budget because it's scenery porn full force...I was certainly left entertained happy.gif

Now I want a velcro patch of the 1121st Platoon's insignia to stick on my tactical uniform shirt... ><

So Sora No Woto was good? I've been hearing good things about it on /a/. Gonna add it into my backlog.

Currently watching Haibane Renmei. Short anime with a very interesting concept of dead people and purgatory.

Sora no Woto has to be one of my favorite shows of all time. Definitely don't be fooled by the K-ON archetypes. (nothing against K-On of course, big fan myself)

Everything about the show is rather beautiful, scenery, story, and definitely the music. Last scene of the show was especially so.

I'm talking about people in general. For certain individuals (like him) it's understandable, but I'm talking about the big picture. That's what really matters.

Posted by: RalliKai Dec 23 2012, 09:11 PM
Miyazaki has never been shy about his pacifist or environmental views. Most of his films have had a pro-environment, anti-industrialization/anti-war message in them. Nausica of the Wind and Princess Mononoke really come to mind.

Posted by: THE_HONDA_CG2 Dec 23 2012, 09:22 PM
Nausica of the Wind and Princess Mononoke are masterpieces. I just finished watching those two the other night. Other than anti-war, pro-environment as RalliKai said, I can't find any ulterior themes hidden behind them. Next on the list is Porco Rosso, Howl's Moving Castle, Castle in the Sky, and Whisper of the Heart. I'm skipping Ponyo because I didn't feel it the first time I watched it. Ok, fine; its on the bottom of my watch list. What I really want to see is Miyazaki's early works. Like the really really old stuff that never got to see the light of day stateside.

(and 0083 Stardust Memory, but 08th MS first)

Because let's face it, Shirou is one of the best (if not my favourite) Gundam protags ever, and the show in general is just all sorts of amazing. A sci-fi show that actually portrays the military somewhat realistically, and is full of cool characters/suits/animation? Sign me up! laugh.gif

G Gundam is fun. Don't expect it to be hardcore science or anything like that, it's just fun. If you hate fun, you'll hate G Gundam. That's basically how it goes.

If you haven't started Unicorn yet, don't. The final episode comes out next March. Just wait.

08th MS Team and 0083 are great OVAs, as Jake suggested above... but if we're talking Gundam then I have to pitch Turn A. I made a thread about it, my wallpaper is still it, it's awesome. Just the way it is.

Yeah Freddy. It seems like you never want to do anything that involves laughter or joy. That must mean that G Gundam is amazing if you still like it anyway. Don't worry guys. If I say that I'm going to watch it. I'm GOING to watch it.

Gundam Series to avoid (my opinions):

Gundam SEED Destiny ep35+
Victory Gundam
G-Saviour
Unicorn (until next March)

That's it really. It's really hard to have a Gundam series I won't like. Victory was absolute garbage that I only watched so I could say I had seen every Gundam series. Having watched it, yeah, it's absolute garbage. SEED Destiny went downhill starting with episode 35 when they managed to retcon the ending of 34 with bullshit. G-Saviour...no comment. And Unicorn I already explained.

I'm finally watching One Piece. I used to read the manga when I had Shonen Jump for a few years. I'm skipping all the garbage fillers, because I don't want to watch those.

So far, I'm on episode 146....of 597. What is kinda annoying though is only about 280 or so have been dubbed so once I reach those episodes I'll have to watch the other 300+ in subtitles.

I actually thought the ending to Code Geass was weird, but then again... I thought the whole King thing was weird and it stopped making sense after the end of the first season. derp.gif

I rewarched the Gundam 00 movie just for kicks and because I didn't want to work on revising an essay. I really have to say that Qan[T] didn't get enough screen time. That was disappointing... Now I really want to build my PG now. ARGH!

It's been a while since I watched anime religiously (besides Initial D and Gundam.) I'm starting to get back into it.

Just finished up Sword Art Online and Psycho Pass. I'm all caught up on Attack on Titan, and I'm a few episodes in to Daily Lives of High School Boys. Which is probably the most hilarious anime I've ever seen.

Without spoiling it I can say that the first season was enjoyable. The second season... suffered from...some issues with animation...and changing the entire voice cast...so despite arguably having a better plot I haven't been able to trudge through it as of yet.

R2 wasn't perfect but I liked it for the most part. My main problem with it was the switch to more airborne battles as I much prefer the grounded ones that most battles in S1 were.

I agree, it really is a good English dub. The only failings it had, in my opinion, is that in being an older dub there were quite a few re-used actors. For instance, Trowa's VA ends up being a ton of generic soldiers. laugh2.gif

As for the MGs, my issue is that they're all the Katoki re-designs yet only Deathscythe actually has its Endless Waltz iteration. I personally liked the TV versions for most of the Gundams more, and the only TV one out (now) is Wing Gundam. There was a post a while back suggesting they were doing a MG for Wing Zero, but we've heard absolutely nothing since.

If I absolutely had to make a suggestion, I'd first ask which mobile suit you like best. My personal recommendation for a kit would be MG Tallgeese or Wing, but that of course assumes you're actually interested.

Posted by: THE_HONDA_CG2 Jun 15 2013, 07:21 PM
This is true. I'm also not a huge fan of the kits from what I've seen (Sandrock&Deathscythe) and I'm not too impressed by everything they have. Maybe I'll just get Destiny Gundam. tongue.gif

Sidenote: the Tiger & Bunny English dub is amazing.

Just started Genshiken Nidaime. At first I was like :| because they changed all the VAs and that's a HUGE no-no when it comes to series for me... but unlike Gunslinger Girl Season 2 the animation quality didn't undergo any huge change so I was able to deal with it.

Then suddenly it was Hato x Mada and it became the best season of Genshiken ever so I'm sticking with it, haa haa haa. w00t2.gif

Why did they do that?

Perhaps they couldn't get people to come back? I'm honestly not sure. The VA cast was the same for the first three 'seasons' (the 'second season' was actually an OVA, and this series is technically 'second generation' instead of 'second season') then suddenly this season everyone is different.

Ogiue was voiced by Mizuhashi Kaori (Mami Tomoe) but is now Yamamoto Nozomi (Yukimura from Haganai). Ohno was Kawasumi Ayako (Natsuki Mogi) but is now Yukana (Tessa Testarossa). Madarame was Hiyama Nobuyuki (Takeshi Nakazato) but is now Okitsu Kazuyuki (Moid from Rinne). Kasukabe was Yukino Satsuki (Kaname Chidori) but is now Satou Rina (Misaka Mikoto). The list goes on and on.

There wasn't a single cast member who stayed the same. No clue why they decided it necessary but...well...that's the way it goes. I'll miss Yuko Goto doing Sue. sad.gif

It being political was what made it good...but I guess I could understand that being a bit heavy on thinking and light on action for some folk...even though the end of the series kinda had some of the coolest battles... well, to each their own.

This. I need episode 4 like you wouldn't believe.

C3bu makes me jealous though. My high school wasn't allowed to have a club as cool as that because guns. It's the one advantage of being a nogunz nation--you can have clubs like this. Or, for instance, walk around Akihabara in full military gear without some police officer tackling you to the ground or shooting you dead on sight.

Posted by: Chidoki Jul 22 2013, 12:05 PM
Its just hard to follow C3-Bu with all the inaccuracies concerning about airsoft that's in a way laughable, me being an airsoft player for example does disappoint me. But its not like I'm taking C3-Bu seriously anyway so I still watch it for the amusement of anime's sake with the fact there isn't really an airsoft anime, and the highschool setting is a plus.

And just to keep on topic, aside from watching current anime but for older anime releases, I am currently watching Highschool DxD.

Oh, you play? Where are you located? Care to elaborate, by the way? I never really got serious into it so thusfar I haven't noticed anything in particular.

Posted by: Chidoki Jul 22 2013, 01:42 PM
Sorry I play in Toronto remember I live in Canada. Anyway the simple things are mostly the gear complaint, obviously C3-Bu has to have that theme of Highschool girls with skirts and pads compared to full blown gear for protection (which is the main complaint with what most airsoft players would say who watch anime and watch this series, such as the weight of the guns, how many attachments are used luckily these girls are traveling light but for us in real events we are carrying so much stuff on us like 6 to 10 clips with a total of 1000 rounds average (depends on event) and the swing strap in case we have to drop our gun to switch to our secondary instead of dropping the gun on the ground. There are times it does hurt like hell to get hit (even from bullet ricochet which I get bombarded from even in cover), and I did get hit in the face a few times in one event. My bro felt the hit twice on his forehead cuz he doesn't have a helmet but only the covering.

Aside from the main gear complaint, my games are kinda like this so this goes a bit off anime topic.

For now I just play private games but in public games, there are a-holes who don't call out being hit even if you are sure you hit them so much or they cheat like shoot you ricochet. I won't be surprised if there is going to be a team in C3-Bu that cheat and don't call out they are hit.

Right now its just early in the series to say what is going to happen in the series. I don't know how much detail they will do like in a typical manga series that goes detailed like types of BB's used for events, chrono speed of guns FRS (Firing Rate per Second) which is restricted to average of 300 FRS on indoor or something like 400 outdoor events. Example, if you're a sniper you need a faster FRS outside cuz the further the opponent, the less it feels like you got hit because of the distance. Custom order parts to replace everything but the bb shooter.

I don't know if they will go to details like some players convert their electric to gas blow back which is sweet with the kick and realism (but in cold weather gas blowback is slow that sometimes when you shoot your target is already gone because it slows down firing rate).

Or maybe character may have real accessories like a real EOTech red dot that is laser instead of a fake red dot that is LED. Even in my events there are anal players who want the real parts (aside from leaving the airsoft part intact).

I may have said all that but those things I don't think aren't that important to know in the anime series, unless it gives a wrong impression to what information is given about what airsoft is like.

Certain rules we can't do depending on event is intentional headshots, blind shooting, we have to make sure we lock on target not shoot randomly, etc...For nighttime there is light brightness restrictions, but sometimes this is ignored. Sometimes while we are shooting our bullets at night we flash the lights (cuz it looks damn cool that way).

For indoors we tend to shorten our stock or have a folding stock cuz its such a big gun but with a shorter barrel. But when we go outdoor is when we start attaching the long barrels like 18 inch, or the scopes, or other stuff.

Plus our missions do vary. C3-Bu currently had Rambo mode and Flag. I have never heard of a Rambo mode before until I saw this anime. Last weekend we had 5 missions in a CQB zone. One mission is a 5 vs 5 that alternates, so when one 5 man team is eliminated the next 5 man team charges and so on, then respawn back to back, we also have a medic where we wait at one spot with medic for a certain time period (like 2 mins), we had a a defend the fortress which alternates, or even transfer a VIP or kidnap a VIP, disable a bomb in a given time period from the enemy, and some campaigns are to be continued if its a fail mission. Our last campaign which was a night battle next week is at an indoor abandoned school where we get to use riot shields to transfer a VIP (which I won't be able to make), but in 2 weeks we're doing an outdoor like a Vietnam style with the highgrass. There is also events with vehicles (with some restrictions of coarse). Vehicle has one driver, one navigator, one shooter and the gunner on top, but the car has no windows (windows would be cheating), and of coarse you can't drive in certain areas for safety.

Our laws in Canada changed about 2 years ago so we don't have orange tip or parts are ordered in places like Hongkong to remove the clear plastic parts with real gunparts. Sometimes these items are confiscated in the shipment border, especially ones like the upper reciever sometimes gets confiscated thinking its going to a real gun. Just like a real life gun we have to take care of the gun like its real because of misinterpreted laws especially by people you know or don't know that assume you have real thing.

Anyway back in the anime some stuff are interesting like the trap doors under the school or the ridiculous 3 vs 1 CQB Sonora did and looking at the varieties of guns used, terminologies used just to spot what they did right and so on. So I still enjoy it as long as I don't get anal about taking it seriously. The anime is probably just gonna get better and maybe more accurate since its only been 3 episodes at the moment.

Posted by: Nomake Wan Jul 22 2013, 01:58 PM
Okay, so I actually bothered to read all of that and what I got from it is that so far, the only thing you're complaining about is that they travel lightly. Considering it's a fairly 'fun' series that makes sense, and perhaps as the series progresses and they get more 'professional' their total gear will change. I mean, I played airsoft for fun myself with only a single pistol and a single rifle, plainclothes and glasses. Not too far from what's in the series when they're playing at school. Will it hurt to get hit? Well yeah. Episode 3, one of the girls shows off all the welts she has.

So I guess what I'm saying is... nothing you said contradicts C3bu as of yet. As such, I don't think it's fair to say the series is inaccurate. At least, not yet.

Also, FRS? That's the first time I've heard it called that. Are you sure you don't mean FPS, or at least muzzle energy? FRS wouldn't be measured by a chrono--it would refer to how many shots you can actually get off in a given period. This would hardly apply for a sniper rifle unless you're one of those morons using his AEG as a sniper rifle. FPS would be the actual speed of the BB and would be measured with a chrono, though you could also measure the kinetic energy imparted by the BB on impact (usually measured in joules) to rate the power.

Personally I totally understand wanting real hardware on an airsoft rifle...

Thanks for correcting on the FRS to FPS that's actually what I meant. Ya like you said its also how its really hard to say if we are still on episode 3 so I am anticipating the next episodes.

Well about 2 to 3 years ago a few of my local friends did dress up simple like same as you with just glasses and simple guns. I had a dirt cheap Uzi and Shotgun that I rarely or never used and I never went to any of their events before but I assume they did the same thing with glasses and such since the events I went to have been the geared up way.

Oh and I don't remember doing acrobats in airsoft lol, oh wait its anime so I am ok with that just like any anime.

And this is why I have so many goddamn problems with any series involving guns. It sucks. facepalm.gif

Except that in this case, C3bu has yet to actually get something gun-related wrong...unless you count the girls' poor trigger discipline during the OP (see my avatar).

It's an abstract representation of a story of determination and, ultimately, failure.

It's also funny.

I'm partway through a rewatch of Gundam 0083 since I just got a couple model kits from that series and it's probably in my Top 3 Gundam Series of All Time. It's tied with 08th MS for 3rd Place. Anyway I'm enjoying it and all, but it does make me wish it had gotten a bluray boxset like 08th MS Team did... and it makes me wish they hadn't completely changed everything in the remastered audio. I can live with the re-dubbed lines and I love the new music mix, but the new SFX are just...wrong. sad.gif

Wolf Children is ridiculously long movie but its a pretty good watch. It has a good concept and characters to boot. Though I foresaw some of the plot turns from miles away... I'd watch it again with a friend.

Also the Tiger and Bunny movie was disappoint. Its just a really long episode. They reanimated a few things here and there... But.why did they do that? sad.gif

Shingeki is one of the best anime of 2013...
But, at the same time, an other anime started but it was forgotten because of Shingeki's popularity...

That anime, is Kamisama No Inai Nichijoubi!
I've watched the first 7 episodes (still airing), and i was blasted.
THIS ANIME, HAS IT ALL! An journey, search for family, (5 min of zombie's), lots of fights, crazy world setup (people can die, but they live forever after that), a city chapter, ghosts, baths AND EVEN A SCHOOL CHAPTER Includes.....

And it will get better and better because we don't even now what time it plays...
The first episode you think it's 1300 or something, then you see an revolver so you think it's 1800 with small old villages. Suddenly a VW Van appears in epi 3...

People, you MUST see this anime! The plot is good enough, and the setting is incredible! It has everything!

This is weird - I also just started watching Bake (finally) and have only finished the first two episodes. I like it so far. At first I thought Senjougahara a shit, but by the end of the second episode I felt better about her. We'll see if I feel the same way throughout.

Short answer: No.

Long answer: There are series which share some aspects of that show but none that are anything close to being a clone of it. For instance, the FPS bits can be found in shows like Stella Jougakuin C3-bu. The insane-dorm-life could be found in something like Here is Greenwood. Drifting video games? Good luck. The Law?

YOU BETRAYED THE LAWWWWW

Just kidding. So no, there is no Anime about a high school full of Chu2 students playing video games.

Chuunibyou Demo Koi ga Shitai. Go watch it.

You could also watch Stella Jougakuin C3bu (though it's currently airing, so it's not complete yet). There's an episode in the first season of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya which has a sequence like that as well (SOS-dan vs Computer Club). Technically Gunpla Builders Beginning G has a similar concept since it's kids playing a video game and picturing that it's real, too...

That's all that comes to mind for now.

Started and caught up with Gatchaman Crowds. Considering Tatsunoko's previous attempt at reviving a classic franchise "Casshern Sins" was a flat 7. I honestly didn't go into this expecting much. Well, I was VERY VERY VERY wrong. The soundtrack is fantastic and the action is beautiful and just.. EVERYTHING. After episode 7 I'm dying for the next episode right now. Watched the current monogatari second season episode earlier as well and things are getting pretty intense in that regard as well. I went into this season just watching Attack on titan. To me there is quite a bit this season that's incredible.

Wing or Zeta if you're after a long-haul series, or 08th MS if you're after a shorter one. Personally, I'd go for Wing as an introduction, but that's due to being pretty dang biased...that, and the remasters are out by OZC and are pretty good. laugh.gif

If you watched Wing, you don't really need to watch 00. 00 was Wing. laugh2.gif I enjoyed 00, but since we're talking about what to watch next I wouldn't recommend doing 00 right after doing Wing.

Destiny? HELL no. Two reasons. For one, watching Destiny without watching SEED is stupid as hell. For another, Destiny was AWFUL. Now you'll get plenty of Gundam fans who are split between calling SEED itself good or bad. I fall on the 'good' side. But even I will agree that Destiny was garbage. It had a good thing going until about episode 34 and then went completely downhill.

G Gundam is a great series if you enjoy fun. If you hate fun, you'll hate G Gundam. Simple as that.

Holding off on Unicorn's not a bad idea since the final episode comes out next spring. It's not that far away considering how many years it's been since the first episode came out.

Bottom line: TURN A GUNDAM.

I've been kinda stuck in an anime rut lately and only watching Toonami's stuff in between rewatching ID 4th Stage. So glad Funimation picked up One Piece and fixed it up after 4Kids butchered it years ago.

In between episodes of WataMote, I've finally given up on trying to download 480p versions of Madoka Magica, and am on crunchyroll, watching an episode at a time. All BS aside, it's pretty good and I'm glad I started watching it.

Aw, you should've asked me. I would've told you that the first two movies are really good summaries of the series that fix a lot of things and improve the scenery/animation in many places. If you'd never seen the series before, they would've been a better way of doing so. sweatingbullets.gif

Watching? Let's see...

Rozen Maiden Zuruckspulen
Gatchaman: Crowds
Danganronpa
The World God Only Knows
Watamote
Hyperdimension Neptunia

that's just this season, I'm currently downloading or already have in my hard drive, but haven't touched them, except for maybe one or two episodes:

Toradora
Bakemonogatari
Maria Holic
Serial Experiments Lain
Haganai: NEXT
Clannad
Hidamari Sketch
Ookmai-san to Shichinin no Nakama
Shinryaku! Ika Musume
Tantei Opera Milky Holmes
Welcome to the NHK
Yuru Yuri
Ro-Kyu-Bu!
Dog Days

Things I need to watch but haven't even downloaded:

Kiniro Mosaic
K-On!
Gosick
Precure
Cromartie High School
Haruhi
etc.

I just recently started picking up anime again, so if anyone has more recommendations, I'd be more than glad to take a gander. I still have to watch all this stuff though.

All the ones in bolded are top-tier and should be done sooner than later. As for recommendations, let's go with the standards...

>Puella Magi Madoka Magica
Just watch the two movies. They're out on bluray and do a great job of summarizing the series while fixing stuff here and there. If you've never seen it before, this would be the way to do it. The third movie comes out in theaters in the USA this fall, probably in November. It's out at the end of October in Japan.

>Steins;Gate
Top tier series.

>Robotics;Notes
Spiritual sequel to Steins;Gate. Top tier series.

>THE IDOLM@STER
No, seriously. It was really good. It's based on iM@S 2, but...that's to be expected.

>Puchim@s!
If you saw the above, this is a wonderful spinoff.

>Ano Natsu de Matteiru
Best seen having previously seen Onegai Teacher and Onegai Twins, but works on its own too.

>Ano hi Mita Hana no Namae wa Mada Shiranai
AnoHana. If you're gonna watch CLANNAD, may as well throw this up there too...

>Mawaru Penguindrum
Just because. It's ridiculous.

That's all I can come up with for now. Godspeed.

I'm wanting to buy the box sets for both seasons of K-On! and rewatch/finish it. I rage quit several episodes into the second season by focusing too much on what it isn't instead of enjoying what it is, so I want to give it a second chance.

Returning to watching is always a good 2nd chance, as I also didn't finish K-On!! season 2 being a weekly then, but I did finish it just a few weeks ago. There is a lot of great animes I have on my list that's already in my hard drive that I still haven't watched, it just comes down to the right state of mind of when those shows need to be watched to enjoy them as my attention span tends to get the better off of me.

K-ON!!'s ending changes the nature of a man. It's a proven, well-known fact. As such, I support this endeavour.

I didn't enjoy Robotic Notes as much as Steins Gate.. Steins Gate and NHK are my all time favorites. I'm still waiting for the Steins Gate movie to be available.

Fate Zero and Sword Art Online were pretty good in the recent series..

Anyone following Attack on Titan/Shingeki no Kyojin?

Chinese hardsubbed bluray rips hit yesterday. It's only a matter of days until we get proper raws. Won't have to wait too long.

FUUUCK. I just finished TWGOK, anime that is.

I hate when anime end. It just leaves me feeling all sad and shit.

Date-A-Live and that would be Tokisaki Kurumi that yandere lollicon, with season two coming soon. She is actually my current wallpaper on my PC.

Well season for Dolljoints: Zuruckspulen is finished...

All I can say is: Fuck you Studio DEEN. Fuck you.

Since everything that I was watching has ending (with the exception of monogatari) I'm watching Patlabor TV and it's pretty good. Much more silly then the very serious movies.

Posted by: Hannah Oct 1 2013, 04:47 PM
Downloaded and finished up S1 of Date A Live in 2 days. It's alright for a harem anime. It's a bit ridiculous with the "blow shit up erryday" and the "dating sim poll" BS, but overall, I don't dislike it. :tsuntsun:
I might even watch the second season whenever it comes out.

Just watched ep. 1 (woo 4 minutes) of Miss Monochrome. I already want to punch a character in the face. However, it was pretty funny for a short.

EDIT: Also waiting on the 720p rip of Coppelion.

Posted by: Hannah Oct 3 2013, 06:42 PM
I'm watching Kill la Kill. First ep came out today. HorribleSubs is currently the only group translating it, I think.
I was first attracted to the character design, it reminded me of Gurren Lagann. [Lo and behold, done by the same studio] There is a lot of flashy spinning and spastic movement, which kind of sucks, because I have to keep pausing it at certain points to see or read something that flashes for a split moment. Overall, the premise is interesting and I'd like to see more of it. <3 And not just for the cheesecake factor. tongue.gif

Ugh, and it's already being licensed, according to the Wiki. Well, at least Aniplex doesn't usually disappoint.

topkek. The only time HS translated anything was back when CrunchyRoll delayed the release of Sword Art Online for a few weeks. The result was hilariously bad. So nah, HS merely rips from CrunchyRoll verbatim. They don't do any encoding or translating of their own.

Posted by: jbeavis100 Oct 4 2013, 12:43 PM
Watched the first ep of Kill La Kill same as most pretty good stuff but I'm facinated by Coppelion I really like it so far and the art is pretty neat. Gave a Kyoukai No Kanata a try on a whim (and because it's kyoani) and really like the first episode.

sidenote: life feels empty now that gatchaman crowds is over.

I guess that's them just living up to their name. Lol

Either way, I think I like the anime.

Just started season 1 of Symphogear. I was compelled to get the series after listening to all the vocal tracks (while playing them on IDW radio at the same time) that were out early last month. Now I now what I've missed by not caring about the series when it originally ran.

I'm rewatching Sword Art Online because of the English Dubs. In my opinion, the dubs are pretty top notch. I wish Initial D could have gotten a better dub...

Posted by: MidnightViper88 Oct 6 2013, 03:12 PM
Was watching Index but it is now finished. Tomorrow I plan to resume operations into Railgun territory.

Posted by: kyonpalm Oct 6 2013, 03:19 PM
Alright, I've seen a few shows from the new season.

Kyoukai no Kanata
Underwhelming. Came to dislike both female leads by the end of the episode. Will stick around because Kyoanus finds a way.

Log Horizon
Also underwhelming. From what I can gather, it's a clone of Sword Art Online, which is itself a clone of .hack (I have never seen either series).

Miss Monochrome
Daft and gullible (which made for some cute scenarios) Miku clone. The first short was very entertaining, though.

Nagi no Asukara
Fishbutt.

Kill la Kill
Will make formal post in its respective thread.

I'll be checking out many other series as they come out and may chime in occasionally. I haven't dropped anything yet.

And Okami, I never realized your avatar was animated. What anime is that? Sort of looks like Clannad.

Also, why can't people just stop trying to make further advances in online acronyms. LOL is fine the way it is. what you're doing is just confusing people who are either new to online acronyms or just don't spend all day on 9gag and reddit and whatever.

I don't visit either site, and it took about five seconds of common sense to figure out what 'topkek' was supposed to be. I had no idea it referred to Turkish snacks, so that tidbit's new, but my use--which has become the common use--was right on the ball. Common sense, guys. You're younger than I am, this stuff should be hip and whatever. Old guys like me shouldn't be faster on the uptake.

Still need to watch Gundam Turn A and finish up Gundam Wing Zero...stupid school...

Turn A Gundam is glorious win... but what's Gundam Wing Zero? Is there a new manga or something I'm not privvy to?

EDIT: As for what I'm watching now, I just saw the first episode of Outbreak Company and Hajime no Ippo. Ippo was exactly what I expected. Outbreak Company was glorious spectacular hilarity mixed with a bit of oh-god-why-is-this-me. Basically, so far, it's the best show this season.

EDIT 2: Oh and saw the first episode of Infinite Stratos 2. It was also pretty much what I expected. Platinum Blonde, 'nuff said.
