So I've been using Google Chrome as of late as my main browser on my netbook and was wondering what extensions some fellow IDW Chrome-users have installed. I just came across the ability, which I was under the impression was unavailable on Linux, and just installed a nice little extension called Remove Images which seems to not download images which is something I am able to do quite easily with Safari but not so easily with Chrome.

So what are some extensions you guys use?

I don't have it yet but I haven't heard reviews yet. How do you like it? I use Firefox. Any better? Pros and cons?

The Pros are supposed to be its speed... It's apparently the fastest browser... Though Safari is supposed to be just as good (but I believe only the Mac version).

Cons... Not that I can think of although some people (myself included) have some fears about how Google might be sharing data they are getting via Google Chrome usage with advertisers. Ah, wait, there is also the issue about the program still being in a unfinished "beta" stage and there isn't too much add-ons/extensions yet for it.

@Perry: I found out about it earlier today... The extensions need work though...

Firefox has too much of a market share right now for Chrome to make an impact as a standalone browser.

Plus they don't have ogame extensions which makes it useless for me.

And at that point in time, Chrome might become useful for me. Until that time however, it still stands that it is useless for me.

True, from the looks of it Perry and I might be the only IDW members to use Google Chrome.

Whatchu talkin' about?
I'm giving it a spin on Mac right now. It just never ran right on my PC, but then again not many things did.

One quick thing I noticed and don't remember from using it on my other computer was some difficulty moving my bookmarks around on the toolbar. I'm used to dragging and dropping them into folders (and Other Bookmarks.) That isn't as easy now. I had to right click and edit the location of the bookmark.

Also, this is a little more specific and not just Chrome, but on my MacBook, I regularly use a 3-finger up/down swipe to go to top or bottom of a page in Firefox. Safari and Chrome don't support this.

I'm upset I can get the traditional blue on a Mac, even with themes. I'm using the minimal one at the moment.

Safari doesn't support it? That is odd... I'd have to test it on my macbook which has some multi-touch capabilities... I know that I can swipe back and forth in Safari to move forward and backward though.....

Exactly why I jumped in. Also, it's not like my shouldn't have a badge or something.

BOZZ, 3 fingers side to side still goes back/forward pages, but it stops there. I'm sure there's one of those applications that can modify your multi-touch per program, but I don't care that much.

Weird... I can verify the same deal on my Mac... I am just so used to use three finger swipe for back/forward and two fingers to scroll that I never noticed it. Firefox is supposed to have, or at least did it did sometime mid-2009...

So far, I've been trying Speed Tracer and Firebug Lite. I love Speed Tracer, it has a lot of useful bandwidth benchmark tools that I like when I optimize the load time for the forums. biggrin.gif

Firebug is a fairly nice extension... I've had it running on Firefox for a while, it's proved to be quite helpful... smile.gif

Chrome is supposedly taking over a lot of the browser market share.

i just have 3 issues with chrome so far:

-you cant "open" a download

-image options are poor, ie: cant view size, cant open image separately, cant set as wallpaper.

-spellcheck needs some work imo. firefox was the same when it was in its earlier stages.

Why does Chrome always sh*t on me when I run anything that uses Flash? I want to play Facebook Poker AND watch YouTube videos at the same time!

Whoa... I was a bit bored and checked the online list... Quite a few members are using Chrome it seems (Alex, Tesso, Steve, Thirteen, Jerry Liu).

Btw, anyone hear of any way to force a status bar in Chrome? It bugs me how it appears when loading a page but disappears... I guess I prefer it being there since I am used to it... Although I am still a bit worried about how much data Google tracks even if I opt out of it when installing Chrome... I find myself using Chromium (open source fork of Chrome) on my netbook rather than Chrome...

I have been using chrome for a little over two weeks and i can honestly say that i am in love! the only thing I hate is that there is no extension like firefox's download helper.

I've noticed on Chrome, Youtube lags on me while on Firefox, it runs pretty smoothly. Anyone else experience this?
