What about for the case of Happogahara? Kyoichi did mention that the leverage of Happo is quite similar to a circuit. Though I know Ryosuke would fare equally as he did in Akagi, but on Kyoichi's end... how long would he last?

I think a race between him and Tomoyuki would be interesting since they both have circuit training. I don't think Kyoichi would win, though.

Plus they're both Toudou graduates, if I'm recalling that correctly.

Either way, Kyoichi doesn't have the skillset to defeat Tomoyuki. He hesitates too often when things get dicey, whereas Tomoyuki manages to regain his composure fairly quickly. Takumi only JUST beat him by a few feet after pulling every move he had out of his ass.

Plus Tomoyuki isn't held back by pride, so he'll bump the opponent, if needed.

Kyouichi isn't at par with Tomoyuki skillwise, they both are alumni of Todou Racing School, and both have circuit training but, Tomoyuki is a circuit racer, not like Kyouichi who might have been in the circuit a lot shorter than Tomoyuki has. facepalm.gif

Kyoichi shows nowhere near the level of skill Tomoyuki does. Happo is also a fuckton harder to conquer than Iro. Kyoichi relies too much on the qualities of his car (say "misfiring system" like it's a huge fucking advantage one more time, you bastard) and not on skill alone. He can drive really fast and corner decently, but he's not in the top tier by a long shot.

What about Kyoichi vs. another 4WD driver... like Godfoot? troll.gif

Not to mention Kyoichi is an amateur and Tomoyuki is a professional... It's not even a fair comparison.

Kyouichi and God Foot??? I don't think so, he would be inhaling fumes for the whole race if you ask me.

Probably Kyouichi and the downhill racer of the unknown team in Saitama... facepalm.gif

But i doubt he would be racing against an inferior car with an inferior driver, he won't find it a challenge.

If he always makes sure that his car is better than his opponent then he won't race against a superior car even if it has an inferior driver or equal or superior at most.

Then the only way he would race a superior, or an equal, is if he thinks they are driving an inferior car (having less power than his evo 3 and without the misfiring system he is very proud of.) and still would lose.

I'd consider kyouichi one of the top racers in initial d. It's just how the anime played out... he had to vs the #1 and #2 racers (takumi and ryosuke essentially can't lose because they are the heroes).

Remember when Takumi called Ryosuke to ask where he could find Kyouichi (Stage 3). Ryosuke specifically told him how hard it would be to beat Kyouichi. And even during Ryosuke's race vs Sudo, Ryosuke said he only "had one shot" to pass Sudo at the last high speed corner. At the end of the race, Ryosuke even complimented Sudo saying his technique was almost even with Ryosukes.

And regarding a race between Sudo and Ryosuke on Iroha, I believe it already happened before Sudo went into "one year training mode" to rematch Ryosuke. During the rematch between Sudo and Takumi, he said that "no one can adjust to slow speed turns into a high speed turn" at the end before the bridges(something like that) except for one man, which was Ryosuke. So given this fact, Ryosuke already has the knowledge and skills to race on Iroha. Even with the upgraded Evo, Ryosuke's skill has grown as well so he'll most likely be able to beat Sudo again.

In the anime and the manga, has Sudo actually won a race (of course not counting his win against 86 and the blown engine)?

I don't think he did. All the non-canon winning was done by Seiji - someone from Usui and VS Nakazato.

Kyoichi was just standing. Literally.

The anime never showed Sudo racing anyone before reaching Gunma. However, he is the leader of Team Emperor, and it can be inferred that whoever Seiji beat, Sudo would've destroyed.

Remember when Seiji was about to race Takumi, Seiji felt he didn't wanna race against a slow 86, but Sudo said somethign like, "i wouldn't mind racing him", and seiji replied "no need to race boss, your skills and your car is just overkill vs an 86". That is how Seiji got to race Takumi, and eventually loss.

Kyoichi is apparently known as the top driver on Irohazaka, at least. Kai still hadn't taken him down before Takumi got to him, and that race was won by a hair. Kyoichi isn't a bad driver, he's just not taking his game to the next level because he's comfortable (and conceited) in what he already has. That's why he's still getting ripped apart by top tier drivers like Ryosuke and Takumi.

Meaning, if Sudo would ever eat his own pride and be humble going to Ryosuke and accept the fact that he is not as good as he thinks and would like to ask for assistance, then Ryosuke can help Kyouichi just like training Takumi and Keisuke then project D would have triple aces (not counting Ryosuke of course) and this is hypothetical, just wanting to know if Sudo is in that level to be a project D ace if he would just humble down. facepalm.gif

Probably not, as Ryosuke never scouted him as having the skill or potential to be an ace. He's missing a crucial element, probably ambition or potential to get any better than he already is.

He's hit a wall, as far as I can tell. He is fast on Irohazaka, at least. On any other course, his inherent weaknesses, which he never tries to correct, get the better of him. He chokes when things get tough. He's not willing to step up his game, not willing to take risks, and not willing to go outside of a "safe zone", hence he retreated back to Irohazaka and hasn't left to race anybody since getting his ass whupped the last time.

So being his true self in this case is his handicap. The car is amazing not the driver. facepalm.gif

Yep, if you notice, all the time he's almost always boasting about his car rather than believing in himself.

Given kyoichi's thinking of using the cars capabality if racer skill are equal. I think seiji would have won. He would have oreserved his front tires. Then hencould easily overtake on the straits.

On stage 2 when takimi was spending time with itsuki on th lake, takimi said that if henraces kyoichi in akina, he would have lost too.
