Lot easier to find people calling it a coupe, then a sedan.. in fact all i could find was mentions of an 06 concept (designed from the current gto) when its been called a "Sedan". Then again i didnt look hard

I personally would never call the ZX5 a hatchback but i think that it is one of those things that could be called a hatchback if you really wanted it too. kinda like a square being a rectangle but a rectangle not a square.

QUOTE (Jabberwocky @ Yesterday at 7:44 AM)
Straight from Webster's Dictionary:

Main Entry: hatch·back
Pronunciation: 'hach-"bak
Function: noun
: an automobile the back of which consists of a hatch that opens upward; also : the back itself

LOL, so basically, any car with a trunk is a hatchback. go dictionary!

QUOTE
So a the same car can be a coupe, a hatchback, and a station wagon

sure. if you go by a common language dictionary for what is essentially a very abstract, specialized area of terminology. i personally wouldn't.

that's using the dictionary to tell you if anything can infact beat VTEC (nothing can). it might tell you displacement, or at least boost, but anyone that knows knows that you can't beat VTEC.

Excuse the necro post, but I just spotted this while checking neo Lorrnoke's old posts and had to point this out.

Correction for you:

1-door = Isetta.

While that one may not be, Red Bull has two of them that are, and neither of them have doors.

Shafz.

They are called that over here too.

The ones that I am not sure what they are called are cars like the Mondeo 5 door, or an older example the Rover 3500.

Those are completely like sedans, but they are of the fastback body style.

The guy with the 5-door Focus should consider himself lucky. For some reason, my Nissan Versa is considered a "minivan/crossover" by my finance company. Not too sure how a front-drive, five-door hatchback is anything like a minivan, but whatever. laugh.gif

For those saying four-door cars with a rear hatch are wagons, what about the four-door Nissan March/Micra, or the four-door Peugeot 206 for example?

I don't think "saloon" has been mentioned in this thread. Isn't the term pretty much interchangeable with "sedan?"

Well that was easy enough.
