I thought it was too complicated and intimidating at the time. But now After watching the whole series on Netflix I got hooked and wanted to play the game, I whipped out my old copy of Auto Modelista to get my hachi roko fix until my copy of IDES showed up, and wow was I pleased with the purchase although it's tough to play with a controller, I'm getting along pretty well. I'm slow danceing through the career mode and focusing on practicing to get better.
