Posted by: BOZZ Apr 1 2007, 08:06 AM |
That's impressive that someone was able to jot those all down. |
Posted by: MattW Apr 1 2007, 08:12 AM |
Thank you for your quick reply! |
Posted by: Thai-kun Apr 1 2007, 08:13 AM |
Quick? that took me like...an hour to put together, 20 mnutes is quick lol. EDIT: no chance in hell I'm doing civilian plates, I don't even have Fourth Stage anymore, a lot of those were from memory. |
Posted by: MattW Apr 1 2007, 08:14 AM |
It's quick, I was expecting a few days, lol. |

Some confusion regarding the numbers. Let's take the AE86's plate for example. 13-954 Did Shigeno intentionally add in the third number after the 5? IIRC, there shouldn't be space for a third digit after the dash. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japanese_license_plates |
Posted by: Thai-kun Apr 1 2007, 04:05 PM |
I'm willing to bet he did just so that he didn't end up somehow using a plate that a real citizen might have. |
Posted by: Max911 Apr 2 2007, 05:57 PM |
Very cool! But I think you forgot a couple... Shingo, Tomo... |
Posted by: pnoytecknix Apr 2 2007, 06:22 PM |

Posted by: Max911 Apr 2 2007, 06:37 PM |
Ah, forgot that Tomo is short for Tomoyuki. Yes, thanks for the sweet numberplates. When I take pics in GT4, I will be sure to add these in |

Posted by: Nomake Wan Apr 2 2007, 07:32 PM |
Indeed, who is this "Motsu" person? If you mean Matsumoto, he drives an MR2, not an FD... |
Posted by: TheFadedSeraph Apr 2 2007, 07:50 PM |
Oh, he's talking about the MOVE member from the Out of Kontrol music video. |
Posted by: Nomake Wan Apr 2 2007, 07:55 PM |

Can somebody post the license plate numbers AND PROVINCE of the red FD Takumi raced in the Ramei Out of Kontrol music video? I'm trying to build a model out of that. Thanks! |

Posted by: dtemplar Oct 1 2007, 06:22 PM |
Thanks! But I can't seem to identify the prefecture/province. I did a lot of freeze screens but my video quality is too blurred/low quality... |
Posted by: 207 Oct 1 2007, 07:03 PM |
^ if you could figure out which prefecture nobuhiko lives in/registered the car in then you'll hav the answer, (his is also 33) |

Yeah, i think the additional digit is there to keep the numbers fictional. I guess it keeps people from cashing in on the show's fame by forging identical plates, which would cause trouble for the authorities. Btw, what japanese hiragana is next to the digits. It's always on the very left hand side of the plates. Kinda like we have alphabet along with numbers in Canadian plates, the japanese place a hiragana next to the 4 digits. LOL, im going to try and get my plates to read .666 when i get my car over here. |

The 33 is irrelevant to the prefecture. The top number is based on displacement which is the first number of a three number combination (or two in Initial D), followed by random numbers, in real, between 0 and 99 with blank spaces replaced with centred dots, on in Initial D, one number between 0 and 9. For example, the number 3 is assigned to a vehicle with a displacement <2000cc whilst cars above will have a 5. Now look at a car like the Hachi and compare in to God Foots BNR34. The AE86 has a 4AGE which is a 1.6, hence the 5, whilst God Foot's BNR34 has an RB26 which has a displacement of 2.6 hence the 3. And for anyone confused, the reason that a rotarty powered car such as the FD has a 3 instead of a 5 even though it's actual displacement is 1.3 is because it is taxed as a vehicle above 2000cc so it has a 3-series plate, due to the displacement eqivalence etc. As a post script, the FC is taxed as <2000cc due to the way that taxing used to work. The displacement used to be multiplied by 1.5 giving rise to 1950cc (therefore a 5), but is now multiplied by 1.85 giving rise to 2405cc (a 3) Hope that cleared stuff up |

That didn't even help dtemplar. The plate's prefecture is "Shinagawa" And I hope I don't have to come back to this dead thread. |

Nice try buddy, but it ended up costing too much to get custom plates so you went with the one that the dude in Tokyo registered for you. Stinks that they're registered to the city where you live and not the prefecture. Just make sure to nab some white 'Gunma' plates as a souvenir for your Impreza when you go home. |
Posted by: kou yuuzhen Apr 25 2010, 09:28 PM
It should be 13-139 I didn't know this thread existed, interesting... |
Posted by: junetrish024 Apr 27 2010, 08:20 AM
So where exactly do they came from? Origin I mean... Like Shibuya and the like... |

Could somebody write what Kobayakawa from team 246's plate number is? |
Posted by: Tsyta Sep 5 2010, 03:12 PM |
i tried thinking about why someone would even care/think about the number plates on the cars. i came up with nothing. seriously if you need to think about something as meaningless as this you should just quit life all together, or find something to fill your time with. |
Posted by: Tessou Sep 5 2010, 06:37 PM |
Some games let you alter the license plate. Some people like the fun of replicating cars from the show. I don't think it's totally meaningless, just a little more hardcore fandom than most. |

Ever thought of looking on Initial D Arcade Stage 5? |
Posted by: streetstyle May 1 2016, 01:56 PM |
so was looking at making some plates for my RC car and noticed that the new movie they have changed there plates?!?! Image size reduced, original size: 741 x 388. Click here to view the image in its original dimension. Trying to work out the Prefecture & Municipality, limited with my knowledge this seems to be made up and the Prefecture is 'Red' which made me think its said RedSuns 33?! Anyone able to help translate? |
Posted by: Meteor May 1 2016, 02:39 PM
The first of those two kanji is "red" as in "aka". From that alone, one can deduce that the whole word is gonna be "Akagi" here. And checking online some more, guess what the kanji for the mountain Akagi is? That's right, 赤城. Exactly the same as on that license plate. |

The best one was the GT86 at the end of Final State 86-239 (Hachi Roku ni sankyu- Thank You 86) I had a giggle when I saw it. OK 群馬 550 お 86-239 群馬 550- Is the prefecture series-, issued in Gunma light weight private vehicle. お- Plate Series based on hiragana symbol 86-239- plate number |
