Looking at this blog it looks like the japanese found a way to convert sperms into eggs. We're already half way there on artificial wombs so it won't be long before transexuals are able to make babies bounce.gif hug.gif dribble.gif

Your thoughts on this?

+1 for trap club!

I have a Bachelors degree in biology. The last bio class that I took to complete my degree was Developmental Biology. Doing something like this is difficult--if not impossible. I don't believe one second of it.

If it's possible, it's very interesting and certainly a step forward for transgendered people (as well as couples containing one or both).

However, I doubt that this is factual.

QUOTE
When overexpressed in cultured ovarian follicular cells, foxl2 and foxl3 produced functional transcription factors able to control the expression of reproduction-related genes. Taken together, these data suggest that Foxl2 may play a conserved role in ovarian maturation, while Foxl3 could be involved in testis physiology.

QUOTE
Recent conditional knockout studies in mice have demonstrated that inhibition of Foxl2 expression in the adult ovary results in transmogrification of the ovarian follicle into a structure that resembles the testicular tubule. Evidence from human studies indicates that FOXL2 is associated with a reduced follicle reserve, which could be due either to disruption of the follicle assembly or to elevated recruitment of primordial follicles.

QUOTE
Humans do not possess the exact same gene, but the researchers suspect a similar genetic switch mechanism may be at play in people, too

It's promising, but there's still a long road ahead to figure out what the human-equivalent gene might be, if it exists at all.

Even though I doubt this will happen, I am looking forward to artificial wombs and such.

Which is weird because I just tested it in a clean browser environment and it loaded just fine from the original URL. Whatever, imgur'd anyway.

I should get around to watching the original OVA. I loved Poly and Dual. Heck I loved 'em so much that back in the Yahoo! User Room days (sigh...nostalgia) I created a one-off bounty hunter based on her and busted up a slave auction. Was pretty awesome.
