Okay, so here's another one of my random feature requests. So Photobucket has basically become shit ever since updating their interface, making it all but impossible to actually upload original-sized images and link them. It's incredibly annoying. For a short period they had fixed that...then they backpedalled on the fix and returned it to being annoying. So here's how it works now:

>Upload image, making sure to tick 'original size' in options

>Image will be scaled down to 1024xH

>Original image will only show up if ~original is added to the end of the direct link

Which is where the problem is. I realize it's a security feature that IDW does not allow non-extension IMG URLs, but would it be possible to have a sort of post-processing thing on IDW's end that adds ~original to any IMG link where Photobucket is the host? So what I'm suggesting would work like this:

User links an image as normal:

CODE
[img]http://i1267.photobucket.com/albums/jj542/nomake_wan/100_1811.jpg[/img]

IDW recognizes that this is a photobucket link and on the server side turns that URL into this:

CODE
[img]http://i1267.photobucket.com/albums/jj542/nomake_wan/100_1811.jpg~original[/img]

Which thus displays the image in its original resolution rather than the scaled-down and resampled version Photobucket would otherwise be providing. However, if a user tries to post the latter version themselves, IDW would continue to reject it as a valid link as per usual. This way only photobucket links would actually get this feature and--I hope--it wouldn't affect the security functions already in place.

Thanks. happy.gif

Roger that!

Image size reduced, original size: 1280 x 800. Click here to view the image in its original dimension.

EDIT: It works!

EDIT 2: However, attempting to edit the post does flag it as an improper link, so just a note to self that I have to remove the ~original before hitting 'Submit Modified Post'. smile.gif

I made it so that you don't have to remove the ~original part manually. You should be able to edit the post now with no warning. happy.gif The forums will remove the ~original part if it's an image from photobucket.com when you are editing your post.
