If you have Winamp installed, you should just be able to click on the link at the top and stream the broadcast. Go to winamp.com and download the media player. Once you get it installed, you can click on the song name in the upper part of the page and Winamp will start streaming the broadcast. If your web browser asks: "What would you like to do with the file: "listen.pls", just click "Open With" and select "Winamp". That should do it. |

VLC can also play it, as can MPC-HC and iTunes. Any media player worth its salt should be able to play it without issue. |

So, what was the most recommendable to use ? |

Depends on your preferences. I personally use iTunes for the following reasons: 1.) I own an iPhone, therefore I use iTunes. 2.) iTunes handles streaming radio very efficiently, and once I drop the .pls file into it I don't have to keep the .pls file around or reload it whenever I want to listen to IDW radio, I just double-click the IDW radio entry in iTunes. MPC-HC is probably your worst choice, because while it's capable it doesn't handle streaming as efficiently (i.e. buffering the stream) and you'd have to keep the PLS around and reload it whenever you wanted to listen. VLC handles streaming very well, and you can actually point it at IDW directly if you wanted instead of using the PLS, but again, you'd have to reload every time. Winamp works quite well and you can keep the connection around in your library, so I assume most members who don't use iTunes probably use Winamp. So my (biased) recommendation? iTunes. If you don't have iTunes, get it. If you don't like iTunes, I'm sorry. |

Just a heads up to anyone with an iPhone/iPod/iPad (Jailbroken or not, doesn't matter!). VLC for iOS updated yesterday and brought with it some significant functionality. I won't go into all the details here since this is the Radio Broadcast forum, so the important part is that it now supports the same functions as the PC version, namely 'Open Network Stream': This means that VLC on iPhone/iPad/iPod can not only stream IDW Radio, but also IDW TV! Finally a simple solution...and you don't even need to jailbreak to use it! If anyone is aware of a free app for Android that supports streaming AAC audio as well as NSV video, feel free to post it up here. Until then, iOS +1! |
