This settings I can watch on my Samsung Smart TV?

Posted by: K1RZA Mar 31 2015, 04:52 AM
It is unlikely. Because of this - 10bit. But nothing prevents You to try - 24bit. Now not every hardware player can chew this quality.
But nothing prevents You to try. smile.gif

Probably can't.
But I'm not sure.

What is on the disk labeled HD Remastering?

Posted by: Nomake Wan Mar 31 2015, 05:39 AM
Wow, brilliant encode. You really made this pop, and excellent use of VFR for the OP sequence. I wish you had encoded the rest of Initial D. Hell, I wish you worked for Avex so that we could've gotten better blurays in the first place. biggrin.gif

@K1RZA: That's the Digest Version of Stages 1-4 that aired on TV before Fifth Stage did.

Haha, thank you!
And for the Final Stage, I will mux the English subtitle instead of Chinese.

That is a summary of the previous stages, right?

Yes, about 23 minutes for each stage.

It's quite technical but you can get around this by using reply #8 in this thread http://forum.videohelp.com/threads/339216-...it-MKV-to-8-Bit or you could use Handbrake if you don't mind minor picture quality loss.

Posted by: Nomake Wan Mar 31 2015, 10:01 PM
Do note that the above is not a magic bullet that just 'fixes' it. You must re-encode the video if you want it to be compatible with hardware decoders, plain and simple. The first link is a command line way of doing it. Handbrake is a GUI way.

Yeah, upon a second look, it looks like he would have issues getting 24 bit FLAC audio to work on Samsung TVs (or probably any brand of smart TV, for that matter) even if the video remuxes fine, so the command line way likely won't work anyway in his case. Handbrake might still work, though, not sure as I haven't used it in a long while.

If Handbrake doesn't work either, then I'd suggest using Plex to stream the file to the TV.

I wonder what the quality of the video on the previous volumes, Blu-ray BOX Pit 1 & 2? Does anyone have pictures or screenshots?

Posted by: blakninja Apr 3 2015, 10:57 AM
How can I mux the flac into the mkv without losing quality (on OS X)? Thanks!

Are you planning on releasing Battle Stage, Battle Stage 2, Third Stage and Fourth Stage? It seems Pit 2 is really all that's missing. Can't find 'em on PD either.

1st and 2nd are from BDMV of BDBOX1.
3rd and 4th are from HD remaster digest.

Thanks for the feedback.. I am downloading it now. I wish the other stages were ripped too from their blurays. Or is there someone who already ripped Stage 1 and 2 from the bluray??

Stay tuned for Initial D Rally Stage, as predicted by our very own Seri senpai in some thread in the Commuminity forums, where Takumi joins Subaru's WRC Team and becomes the 1st Japanese driver to ever win a WRC Championship... with a super modded BRZ with 86 misfiring systems piggy-backed unto the boxter engine's manifold love system, and a dual turbocharger and supercharger arrangement that could've only been conceived by fusing Peter Solberg's corpse into the STi Rally Car's blue paint!

...he still delivers tofu. Only in Europe though. awesome.gif

There's no Blu Rays on the Japanese market for 4th Stage, only R2 DVD's Suka Bazooka dude~ I wouldn't hold my breath to be honest. sad.gif

Also, I don't know how practical or viable a Blu Ray of 4th Stage would be since it was animated for small rezzy TV~ of course OB Planning could just take the master Premiere/After Effects/Cel Shader/ etc project files and re-scale everything to 1080p level, but... once an animation studio finishes production it's off to the mastering department & they forget about it. Someone that handles the BD mastering rarely has access nor the software that the studio animators have. They just upscale & chomp the aspect ratio + resolution. Thus it will probably never be released in 1080p proper fashion, since OB Planning already classified 4th Stage as history. It'd be more viable to think that 1 day they'll make some Legend movies out of Project D in 1080p, and even for that I wouldn't hold my breath. So...

No 4th Stage 1080p. Probably never.

They technically already released 1080p blurays of Fourth Stage.
And from the few screenshots I've seen, indications are that they were pretty much just horrendous upscales - emphasis on horrendous, because they looked bad even for upscales.

Being an SD-era TV anime with all digital animation, Fourth Stage's CG probably wasn't rendered at anything higher than 540p, and it's a sure bet both the CG assets and the original high-res 2D art assets have long since been deleted to free up disk space. All that's left is an SD video master, which, unlike the film masters for Third Stage, can't just be scanned at a higher resolution. You're probably never getting a proper 1080p - or even 720p - release of Fourth Stage until someone finds some really cutting-edge multi-frame SR and patch-based upscaling tech, throws both those things at the footage, and keeps doing that in slightly different ways until acceptable results are finally reached. Hell, you'd probably still need some After Effects trickery afterwards to make it halfway convincing.

Hey, question, I downloaded all of Stage 5 and noticed they came with sub files.

I notice Final Stage does not, is Final Stage subbed or will I need to get subs from somewhere afterwards?
