First on the block is the rebuild of the Honda. Meeting my friend tonight and we are going to decide what route we take. I'll update this first post with specs on both cars I own so far. Also what do you guys think of Zac's Autosports? I would be using that name for a YouTube channel and possibly a side business in the future. 1993 Honda Civic Si Image size reduced, original size: 1200 x 675. Sounds great! If you're still on the fence about using the word "rally"... you could always just switch it to something like Zac Rallysports LLC or something ~ cheers & good luck on the business man! This post has been edited by xiao on Sep 16 2016, 01:59 AM | ||

So we decided last night that we will be, well I will be rebuilding the d16z6 that came with the civic. My friend is too busy getting his house ready for their baby they are expecting in February. I'll be taking the motor to work and cleaning it up to see what I'm working with and what I'll need. Most likely just a oem rebuild with a different cam. Comp makes a cam that will work with stock components. Only a 8hp increase but it's supposed to help low end and make the whole Rev range usable. I'm thinking of rebranding my racing page on the bookfaces myself, as it's hardly ever about just the car anymore and I'd like to be able to include other content without it feeling too off-topic, such as when I drive others' cars. Something like Spaz Racing or similar is likely going to result, or maybe just throw caution to the wind and make it a bit more "professional" as Charles Miller Racing. |

I have so many opportunities to drive different cars and also do many types of automotive related work that I want to be able to document and share it all in one place. |

My roommate owns a 1973 VW Thing that she and a shop restored over 7 years. I was lucky to be invited to a car show for weird cars and asked if she wanted to bring her car there. The owner also has a private race track and was doing a bracket racing event. We were shooting for 1'16 |

I'm running cheap ass ones on both cars (well, storing the Evo on them now that I no longer ice race it), and they've been perfectly fine. |

Starter was beginning to fail so I changed it out and also one of the bolts had backed its way out, luckily it didn't damage all of the threads and just replaced it with a new one, was going to replace the PCV but ran out of daylight and heat. Had a little time to work on the civic, didnt take too many pictures but we got the transmission off the original motor and found that the clutch was exploded and figured thats why it wasn't going into gear. Just going to put the 280,000km motor back together with new seals and head bolts and hope it last longer than 3 events Image size reduced, original size: 1500 x 844. I was working on the head, I've never done valve springs so I'll need to find a DIY because I want to clean up the whole head and change the valve stem seals Image size reduced, original size: 1500 x 844. Easier than I expected when I built the head on my last Evo. Just have to have the right tools. |

Still have to read up on how to clean everything safely as well. The lightness of this engine is comical. I could pick up and move it around myself with no issues. |

IDW Supremo Member Group: Advanced Members Posts: 870 Member No.: 38,019 Joined: Oct 24th 2011 Location: Update Profile | Well long time no update. Mostly due to extreme frustration. New engine has a bottom end knock and keeps overheating. Installed a new rad and thermostat which seemed to help but after a good 2nd gear pull it overheated again. Pretty much has just been sitting like this since end of July. So I have 2 engines with bottom end knocks. 1 engine that did run but burnt oil. So I think the game plan now is to run engine #1 with engine #2 head. I hate when projects turn out like this. I bought a Honda specifically for reliability but it has been far from that. Any input or suggestions on what my next step should be would be greatly appreciated. |
