So, I pulled out the stock turbo oil return from my old 2G today, and found this little bugger stuck in there. The only turbo that ever drained into this was the T25 I blew up.

So... the question is, WTF is it? I've never been inside a center section before so I'm at a loss.

My guess is part of the thrust bearing, considering the wear on the sides but not the top or bottom. I can provide more pics if need be.

EDIT: There's also a visible oil passage on one of the broken sides, runs from the outside edge then out to the smooth faces.

It does look like a piece of bearing, the lettering looks like the lettering on the race of a high-end bearing, as I'm sure you're familiar with. I'm unclear exactly where you found this, oil drain pan? Old turbo parts on the shelf? You sold the Talon, right?

Was this in the CHRA?

No lettering, just some graininess from the camera mixed with dirt. Full-size it and zoom in, you'll see. As I said, there's wear on both sides, and oil passages leading to both sides. So the bearing surface is obviously flat, hence thrust. Haven't seen them dual-sided though, looks like a poor decision.

It was in the drain tube from the turbo to the pan, it was lodged pretty good so I doubt it sloshed up there from the pan.

Talon's been gone since April of '10.

Damn, I still swear I see 19m1 there. DSM who knows, when I worked at the dealership a Tech found a $500 cordless impact tool in an Eclipse, from Normal, missed by at least three inspectors. Lols.

1000 topics FTW.

That definitely looks like a valve seat. You are gonna wanna pull you cylinder head and check all your valves or you could have valve going through your hood. Has it been knocking recently?

Reread?

It's most likely a turbo thrust bearing, from a car I sold almost a year and a half ago.

Valves going through hoods? I'm confused?

And floor pans falling off while shifting into 7th gear.

And your poorly welded SM manifold blowing wide open.

I'm with you. Looks like part of the bearing from the way its been worn, but that is a bizarre find.

And is it terrible that I opened this thread expecting a pic of something that looked like a Bidoof or a Pikachu?
