Posted by: Paulabusa Jul 17 2008, 11:17 PM
how to update? can it be done using my asia psn id?

Posted by: Silfa Jul 17 2008, 11:23 PM
you need a Japanese account I believe to access to DLC content. i think thats why some people had to start over because they didnt make a Japanese PSN to start their IDE characters.

It has nothing to do with seperate accounts. All files are avilable to all user accounts on the PS3. I have a USA/Jap/HK account and have bought PS1 games off the Japanese PSN store and can play them on the USA account etc.

A DLC addon has to be installed, and just like demos, they are available to all accounts once downloaded.

So this stuff goes up on the 24th? I hope it's free or I have to order another network ticket from NCS.

the same way you install a demo. it's not up yet anyway.

you'll download it from the japanese PSN store, then it will be in your game section in the XMB called initial d addon or something, then you install it from any account. you'll need a JPN account to download it though, if it's not free you'll need to buy a network ticket for the japanese PSN store. you can buy those online easily.

plus i have a feeling these cars are already on the disc and this is like an unlock key. because the bonus song is already on the disc....

still, i hope they make new tracks, i will buy them for sure.

Posted by: Silfa Jul 18 2008, 12:22 AM
would be funny if we could get wangan or C1 just kidding lol

I take it the DLC isn't free? How much is it?

Posted by: RIT_ninja Jul 18 2008, 05:50 AM
its free actually...
do a little google translation, yup its free

Posted by: BOZZ Jul 18 2008, 06:34 AM
Awesome... So, just to be sure, a JPN PSN is needed, correct?

Posted by: MzdaspD Jul 18 2008, 07:42 AM
Sweet! I want my RX-8!!

So we have to make a Japanese PSN? damn. So does that mean we have to play on the japanse psn afterwards as well?

Maybe not. It depends if they put the DLC on the PSN store, or you download it within the Garage in network mode.

If it's just an unlock key you download in the game itself, you won't need any account, since if sega was IP screening we all wouldnt be playing this online anyway. IDES doesn't know what PSN account your using, it's just using the internet connection when you're logged in thru the PS3. If sega was gonna lock us out they would just IP screen, but if you can get online with the game this won't matter.

I'm thinking they will use the ingame download option, since I'm sure these new cars are already on the disc. Making a japanese PSN account is easy if it does come to that for people though.

If they are releasing it through the PSN store, then I wonder what the download page is for in your network garage.

So in other words, if you don't have a japanese PSN account, time to make one.

For anyone that doesn't know how to make a Japanese account, I found this step-by-step guide. Check the link http://www.gtplanet.net/guides/index.php/Create_a_Japanese_PS3_Account.

so how you are going to download this in the game or in the psn, will be good to know

Posted by: Silfa Jul 21 2008, 10:11 PM
well the 3 cars were released in the international version and in Japan's 1.5 update. so i doubt there will be more cars until hopefully they release initial d 5th stage. according to the manga its pretty interesting so far.

I hope this isn't true. If it's only going to have a one time release of new additional content of available vehicles, then Sega is lazy

so if its out on the 24th in Japan, shouldn't it be out on the 23rd sometime in the US?

well the 24th in japan is only like 5-6 hours from now because there only like 2-3 hours behind my country i think?

A question about the manga's for yah. How long is each manga? Is it the the full length of what you can buy in paperback form? Sorry for maybe dumb questions, but I've only watched the anime, never read the manga.

Posted by: Tessou Jul 23 2008, 01:31 PM
I have no idea how long the downloadable comics are for IDES, but the descriptions say that they contain certain battles, so I don't think they're that long.

Posted by: Tomo Jul 23 2008, 07:32 PM
wait what if you have to connect to the network in game to process it?

Posted by: maw070583 Jul 23 2008, 07:33 PM
I figured it out guys. First, select the new add-on item in the store so that it has the little red bag icon, then you need to create an initial d save file under your japanese account username, then log into the online mode & once you agree to the online stuff you will get a small download, after that exit the game and login to your us account and launch the game as normal (the new cars are in the garage for selection at this point). This worked for me, and I hope you can get it to work for all you guys as well.

Posted by: turbo_b00st Jul 23 2008, 07:36 PM
hi,
what do you mean by creating a initial d save file under the jpn account name?
sry i dont understand that part...

Posted by: Tomo Jul 23 2008, 07:37 PM
you dont need to do any of that. after you get the red bag, load the game like normal, then log into the network section. It will auto update you and you're all set.

Posted by: LegendaryGnome Jul 23 2008, 07:39 PM

Yeah, wow you guys. One of you contacted me over AIM like BAWWW DLC DOESN'T WORK BAWWW and what do you know, first try and it works. Of course it helped being able to read the Japanese description of the item in the PSN Store. whistling.gif

Once the game is updated and you enter the "New Car" screen, you'll be greeted with:

It's not as much an update as it is adding three new cars to the game. It's like adding characters to Disgaea 3 or adding maps to Turok. It's not an update or a patch as much as it is additional bonus content.

So it makes sense. Remember: IDES was made for the Japanese market! Not you!

Posted by: Nomake Wan Jul 23 2008, 07:55 PM
I'll make an addition to the FAQ to cover this. Maw and Tomo covered it, though.

1.) Log into Japanese PSN
2.) Add the DLC to your cart
3.) It will automatically be added to IDES. You can check it by going to PSN->Account Management->Cart->Services.
4.) Load IDES in whatever PSN you use to play IDES normally.
5.) When you first go into Network mode, you'll be asked if you want to apply the patch. Say yes, obviously. It will automatically be applied.
6.) The next time you add a car to your garage or create a new character, you will have the three new cars available.

Odd. Are you sure you don't have a setup like the one I had? For me:

-Logged into Japanese PSN
-Got DLC from store
-Booted IDES in Japanese PSN
-Created new character (Japanese PSN hadn't played IDES)
-Applied patch, confirmed it working
-Quit game, logged out of Japanese PSN
-Logged into USA PSN
-Started IDES
-Loaded existing character data and confirmed new cars available

The PSNs don't share IDES character data. Maybe you forgot to log back into your normal PSN?

Haha. I never even thought about that. I guess that extra $15 really meant more than we all first thought.

As for the new cars, the only one I've driven so far is the Altezza. It's sort of slow on the corners and gets raped in CP1 of Akagi but it has mad acceleration on the straights. I think it does well on Akina as I got a 3'06" stock.

Posted by: BOZZ Jul 24 2008, 06:55 AM

It can't work on the asia version since you trigger the unlock by accessing the network mode, which isn't present on the asia version.

Not that I know of. You could always try loading IDES with your japanese account.

EDIT: Did you go to your network garage and then attempt to add a new car to your garage?

Yeah. I tried everything. But i ended up using my japanese account.

Anyways..

I really like the miata. I pulled off a 2'47 with it on Akagi DH Dry.. I think i just suck with 6 speeds though. I got a 2'49"6xx and a 2'49"3xx with the Altezza and RX-8.

haha, after rereading yes, but how would you put in words without it sounding or referencing " cheats, password, etc...? ( not trying to be stupid or anything)

mx5 miata it's fast.i beat atteza on yesterday night.i hope sega will update such as add all rivals in stage 4

Posted by: Silfa Jul 24 2008, 07:52 PM
who would they add? project d doesn't race anyone new until the manga vol after their last race. so far where I got to, the new cars are a EvoIX and a Miata. Vol 38 isnt out yet.

Posted by: initial_drifter Jul 24 2008, 08:15 PM
in stage fourth that sega don't add drivers/rivals in this game are :
mx5 miata
skyline er34
cappucino
evo 5 and 6

that's all i think

So... about that download content... it's really... downloadable... right... whistling.gif

So is the Miata really a big of a beast as people say it is? I have one but I have a few other cars to FT before it. But if it's really that good, it might jump up in line.

Posted by: divinity Jy Jul 25 2008, 01:50 AM
Well I don't know if you can count it as "all the extras" since the 3 cars should have came with the game in the first place. But I guess with this release, the game as potential to get better if they decide to (and hopefully they will) add more content.

Not with how fast the "download" processed. It was seriously instantaneous. Had to have been just an unlock code or something.

they are... sorta but its kinda like Test Drive Unlimited where they pretty much have all the cars in it but the company holds out and makes you buy them later. at least thats what i think. but at least this is free.

the Miata seems pretty good, i still got to try the others.

Additional [maikiyarapatsu] (man)… 27 parts are recorded in this package of the ¥320. After purchase, at the garage inside network mode, “the download item please receive and” select, retain the game data. * Additional [maikiyarapatsu] (woman)… 26 parts are recorded in this package of the ¥320. Okay, I just went and did some snooping of the JP PSN store for IDES updates since you guys brought this up.

Pack 1 is for 27 additional avatar parts for the MALE avatars.
Pack 2 is for 26 additional avatar parts for the FEMALE avatars.

You buy the pack(s) and then activate them by going into network mode garage, and then highlight the last option (download parts). You will find the downloaded stuff in there.

I need to get some yen put on my account to make it more kawaii to make someone mad. Can you just add your cc info to the Japanese psn?

Posted by: Tessou Aug 1 2008, 11:51 AM
I'm actually working on that right now. If it doesn't work, you'll have to find yourself a JP PSN prepaid card to put some yen on the account.

UPDATE: You can enter your cc info just fine. The problem comes in inputting a billing address that they use to verify the card. Since you can't input a US address correctly on that page, you're pretty much screwed.

Time to look for a card...

Posted by: SmGy Aug 1 2008, 11:54 AM
I don't think you can, but you can buy japanese PSN cards from play-asia and shopncsx.

Posted by: Tessou Aug 1 2008, 12:05 PM
Yeah, I just bought a 10,000 yen card from play asia. Once I get the new content, I'll post up pics so people can see if it's worth the effort or not.

EDIT: Sorry for the temporary lock there, guys. I merged this with the existing DLC thread, which was locked already, which caused the whole thing to lock up. After splitting all of the chaff from the thread, I reopened it for your use.

*Merged, Split, and Reopened*

EDIT2: I also pinned this topic since it includes all the information you'll ever need for downloading and installing these extra content packs, on top of deciphering just what the hell you guys are adding to the game. Until SEGA shows signs that the DLC is no longer coming, it'll stay pinned.

Scratch that.... 100 and some bucks?

Is there a guide out there on how to download the new cars?

Posted by: Silfa Aug 10 2008, 10:43 AM
all you do is just sign into your japanese psn account. and go into the PSN store and download it. then start the game and go into the network mode and there you go.

Posted by: GetMePower Aug 10 2008, 10:46 AM
I'll probably get the ¥5000 card from Yes-Asia since the ¥10、000 card from Play-Asia cost $130. After I unlocked every avatar parts, it seems limited, so I'll get 27 more for the male and 26 more for the female when I have the chance.

In the JP PSN, just hit the top option on the main menu, and look for the Extreme Stage logo amid the mass of games. The only thing in there without a price tag is the new car package.

Posted by: importdynasty Aug 12 2008, 04:50 PM
you think they would ever have the DLC on a website, where you can download it manually on a PC and install it via usb drive or something, I knew I shoulda got the Japanese version =(

Posted by: Tessou Aug 12 2008, 06:21 PM
My JP PSN yen card is coming in tomorrow. I'll see about posting some shots of the pay-DLC content ASAP.

UPDATE: Okay, I got the card validated in the JP PSN, bought both character packs, and checked them out.

First of all, here's how to access them once you buy them. When you buy them, the red bag will appear next to the items in the shop to confirm. Boot up IDES with the account you bought the items with and go to network mode. After accepting the agreement, you will get a message (it asks if you want to download extra content). Hit yes, and you'll get a short loading screen. Congratulations, your avatar parts are now added.

Now, you can only manipulate these new parts in network mode. They are not added to the list of parts in your regular garage, so you must change these new parts around in the network mode garage. Go to the garage, and select the last option (downloadable items) to see the new parts pop up in a list. This menu works just like the My Character part of your regular garage, except there are no columns to separate the pieces by type.

Here's the rundown of what the male characters get:
3 Face Structure parts (3 variations of a semi-fat face, looks like Itsuki's build)
8 Shirts (2 dress shirts, 2 stylized dress shirts, 4 tanktops)
2 Eyes (large and wide-eyed)
3 Expressions (2 sneering, one wide mouth, and these also change your nose)
1 Necklace (looks like a small bell)
1 Pair of Glasses (Tinted yellow)
9 Hair/Hat Pieces (4 colors of short-spiky, and 5 knit caps)

Here's some pictures of what they look like. I didn't snap pics of all of them, but I will take requests if anybody is interested in how the other variations look.

hey i've made my japanese psn account but when i tried to log in it just takes ages to load and comes up with a message saying that the connection to the playstation network timed out... this does not happen with my UK account or the other two UK accounts on my ps3. Is it just a connection problem? if so how can i improve connection, i've already tried opening the following ports: TCP:80,443,5223 & 10070-10080 and also UDP:3478, 3479, 3658, 10070-10070 & 5010. These ports i have forwarded are the ones i have told that are needed for ps3 games online in general which have worked fine (e.g. COD4, Fifa08) and i have also added a few that someone said i needed for japan version of extreme stage (when it arrives). The problem is i cant even connect to the online account for my japanese psn so i am afraid that i wont be able to access the network mode of extreme stage as well as unlocking new content from the japanese online store. Any suggestions would be great in helping me getting connected! Thanks!

p.s. i'm pretty sure i havent made any mistakes when creating the account and that is not the problem here.

Posted by: Skv012a Dec 16 2008, 10:04 PM
Connect via broadband lol. Goto the JP PSN Store, in 3rd or 4th lefthand menu find ID by its title (its towards the end of the righthand side games), get the 3rd content. Once it has shopping bag, exit, goto the game, make a new file and go online. It will ask to patch, do it. Go to garage and check for new cars. Now once they're present, go back to your main User/PSN account, load the game/save and choose new cars!

I doubt they will, the popularity of this game really died.

Posted by: Tessou Jul 13 2009, 11:11 AM
Sega is currently supporting ID5, and the community for IDES has dwindled to a trickle after only a few months of release, so I highly doubt that any sort of additional content will appear for this game.

Hi guys...

I just gotten the Initial D Extreme Stage from Play-Asia. Been playing for a couple of hours and then miss my RX-8.

So I create a Japanese PSN id. Log into the Japanese PSN store. And couldn't find the DLC anywhere at all.

Can anyone please guide me?

Posted by: RIT_ninja Apr 11 2010, 09:57 PM
you should still be able to find it, look harder cuz its old and buried under other dlc
just click on it and it will become a red gift bag, then start the game and go onto internet mode. Click agree and you should receive the 3 cars.

Again, you must have the Japanese version

Posted by: Lipem Apr 17 2010, 12:29 AM
Edit again: I just got the cars... nothing really special lol.
