I've wasted a lot of time watching anime... Anyways I see some titles that haven't been mentioned yet. I'll just throw them out there, so for example; >Devil May Cry, story wise it's ok, and the art's not bad either--tons of action and gun fights, it's only 12 episodes long so give the pilot episode a shot. >Or GunXSword for another action series, kinda short, 26 episodes, if you ask me it has a very intresting pilot episode, and includes a very intresting concept! >There's also Seirei no Moribito, pretty short, once again 26 episodes, the story takes a while to pick up but it has a very good concept behind it! >Scrapped Princess is also a nice one to look into, good storyline and characters with 24 episodes. I love the art, it might sound girly but there are a whole bunch of cool fight scenes! >And I'm going to go out on a limb and say watch Street Fighter II V, at 29 episodes it's not too long, despite it being a crazy old series--it was made back in the mid 90's, I really liked how nice the quality of the animation was and the storyline. But alas, I'm not a huge Street Fighter fan so I didn't catch all the mistakes that they made in the show. It really impressed me that they fit most--if not all--the characters from the game into the show, granted it did get kind of random at some points. If you want to go retro then give it a shot! I can't say this enough, try watching MuShiShi! It's an amazing show that gets you thinking. If anything just try that show out, the first and second episodes are great... What am I saying? The entire series is amazing! All 26 episodes are great watches, just try it out. You can watch the episodes on Hulu! |

heh heh heh............. Gonna add one more to the list since you guys are suggesting stuff like Death Note and Code Geass. Darker than Black. I cant say i've watched alot of anime, but when i do, its usually something spectacularly over the top. However, Darker than Black always comes up as one of the first in my mind. The show is solid, and take it from me, its quite unforgettable. If you looking for dudes with esper like abilities but with a hint of realism and no instagib powers, this is the show for you. Bones created a strong sense of believability within the world of Darker than Black, its defiantly a must watch. Also, no one mentioned Guuren Lagann. Go watch Guuren Lagann.

Oh! Darker than Black! I've been meaning to watch it. And from what I've seen and read it's amazing! Also Gurren Lagann is for a great laugh, I loved how funny the show was. I also liked the character designs that they had in there. The concepts got outrageous near the end though... Try a bit of Detective Conan, it's way over 600+ episodes now but you don't even have to watch the whole series. I've dropped it for now since it got a bit boring for me. But I can say that the first few seasons were great! I loved the cases that they featured, solving all those crimes with Connan and the gang. Simply the best.

But on a serious note check out Full Metal Panic or Fullmetal Alchemist when you get the chance.

I just started on Darker Than Black recently. Liking what I see so far Other series I watched recently: Pandora Hearts, Desert Punk, Code Geass.
Ahh FMP is one of my must-watches. It has everything coming in one package: action, mecha, romance, comedy. It's a pity they didn't continue the anime from The Second Raid though. Been catching up on the manga and light novels since then; can't wait to see Leonard Testarossa in the coming season if they're making one

FMP! is a great show, but keep in mind that it starts out very slowly. It isn't until episode 5 or so that things really start rolling and it gets addicting. From there on it's a great show. Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the first few episodes... but they didn't have anything that really gripped you and told you that this was an amazing series. I agree with not continuing the novels. Then again, Shakugan no Shana and Zero no Tsukaima are getting finale series after how many years? So it's possible that we could get a final FMP! series out of KyoAni. That is, if they'd stop doing slice-of-life. (...where is my Planetarian movie, dammit...)

Speaking of Key, if another Key anime gets released, it would most likely be Little Busters...and right now it's not looking all that too positive. http://visualnovelaer.wordpress.com/2011/1...-into-an-anime/

It's not like they didn't want an anime since they said they worked out a way to properly adapt it into an anime, they just specifically wanted KyoAni who was busy with K-On and Haruhi. Speaking of which though, this also just got mentioned, KyoAni's next work: http://www.animenewsnetwork.com/news/2011-...-hyoka-tv-anime |

Just learned about this from reading your post, surprised that it's something so different from them... I wonder why they haven't for instance gone back to do more FMP?

IDW Goldmember Group: FORUM MODERATOR Posts: 2,453 Member No.: 34,203 Joined: Oct 22nd 2009 Location: NJ, USA | For something with an intriguing storyline, I'd recommend: Elfen Lied - Watch the anime, read the manga for the ending Madlax - First half serves to set up the second half Puella Magi Madoka Magica - Not your typical magical girl show Steins;Gate - First half serves to set up the second half Though for something more similar to ID, I'd have to recommend Air Gear, both the manga and anime. The storyline isn't as intriguing as the others I've mentioned (unless you read the manga), but it has more of a similar serious-but-light-hearted feeling to it that ID has. |
