At a screening for Initial D: the Movie, aka Initial D: Third Stage, it was announced that the first episode of Initial D: Fourth Stage is set to air in February 2004.


Let's hope this is real, we all have been waiting for a very long time, and desperately waiting for 4th stage, aren't we now. This thread will be the new Fourth Stage information thread, do not post fake, spams, and known rumors in this thread. Let's keep it clean and informational.

can't wait. and the fan subs will come our a few days after it airs in japan. take gundam seed for example. final episode aired sept 25th, 2003. the HaroHaro fan sub comes out Sept 27, 2003. we won't be waiting much longer boys.

i think takumi became a truck delivery dude... still no word about the team
itsuki was in the GS gas station...
natsuki went on to college/univ...
takahashis are still planning for Project D...
bunta is still smoking is cigs...

also takumi and ryosuke had that race at mt. akagi... never showed the ending nor winner... since they said it wasn't important... they only race at their full potential side by side and all that...

so yeah... it should pick up with takumi's decision about the team since spring is coming and the snow are melting or have melted...

One weird thing that I don't get is that the 22b is so old that it should be in reach in 4th stage. Why does Bunta buy Takumi a gc8 when he can get him gods car of that time?

I think it's partially because the 22B is such a rare car. Only some 500 were made worldwide and were issued as collector's cars. The whole ID world is based around cars that you may actually see in the touges of Japan (with the exception of Takumi's 86 with the Group N engine, but you'd still see an 86). Whereas the 22B isn't so much.

And besides, he didn't buy Takumi the car, he bought the GC8 for himself smile.gif

Another season with 3rd Stage-quality CG and animation...........That would've been much better...but now we'll have Stage 4, so it doesn't matter anymore! happy.gif

mebe at the time they thought a movie would have been more appropriate than an entire series.....things like serieses take a long time yknow, and mebe there was too much anticipation, such as now for fourth stage :T

See Impreza gave a good answer smile.gif but really 280 hp is nothing...I just wanted to see it cause I think it's very stylish even compared to the 2004 WRX STi currently. I think the p1 is the best though for looks. I mean that fd has 350 hp. 280 is nothing....yep it's only around 120 hp dif to give to Bunta/Takumi.......how much difference can it make? tongue.gif

The reason it was a movie is because the anime has to follow the storyline of the manga. After second stage left off, there were only those two(?) races left before project D started racing. They wanted Project D to be seperate from Takumi as an no-team driver, so there wasn't enough material to cover (before Project D started) to make a whole series.

What does N2O got to do with ricers? I don't see anything wrong with it used in Initial D, I think it might be a good idea as long as he rarely uses it. Like that time where he races Kyouichi, if he had N2O and the engine did not blow, he could've beaten him.

Ya you should know that I memorise that phrase in my head. I tell that to all my friends and when I tell them that there just quiet I think they get offended by that but I say its true. what can you master or learn on a strightaway?? My friend said nothing. I said Exactly!!!!!!!!!!. I dont like the game initial D sometimes beacuse people have there cars really fast but when they hit the hairpins they suk ass.I always catch up but when it gets to the stright They smoke my mad.gif

The scene where Itsuki and Takumi are driving near the lake in the AE85 in ep 1 of stage 2, and the evo 4 comes up behind them:

Itsuki:"Woah, an evo four!! Ill just hit my 500 shot NAWWWWWSS!!"
*The AE85 goes flying off a cliff and into a ditch*

NOS itself is not a bad product, horsepower per dollar, it's one of the best modifications you can do. Ricers lile it especially, because they think it'll turn a puny motor into a monster, instead of doing actual motor work. However, it wouldn't have much use in something like initial d, except for possibly speeding up the initial dash. NOS is only good primarily at WOT, so when you decellerate, it's not gonna do you any good, and probably take your motor's internals with it for lack of fuel.

Remember children : NOS is not dangerous untill mixed with stupidity.

Quite true. My friend is always talking about speeds, how much hes going to mod it and make it go fast in a DRAG. I said, "whats the fun of driving fast in a drag?"
"The adrenelation"

"Yea"

then i tried to explain to him about togues and mountain racing but he wouldnt listen, but i cant really get pissed at him. Hes not a ricer, he knows a lot about cars. The point is, many people know about cars and shiz, but we cant call them ricers for liking drags. Drag racers are racers too.

Anyways the note on the arcade stage forum, thats why the DC2 is so cheap on iroha. There are many straights on iroha (despite the many hairpins) If a DC2 screws up on a hairpin, it can just regain speed by going fast on the straights, but i still respect GOOD DC2 drivers.

Yeah, I've read this somewhere before about a 4th stage in production. Expect it to be released in Japan sometime in early 2004, I've heard rumours that the date of release is like February of 2004, or at least somewhere around there.......


Good to hear some confirmation on the project itself. Now I can wait patiently for a new ID series.

Seriously, I'm tired of waiting. Stage 4 needs to come out and it needs to come out NOW! Someone at the arcade where I play told me that the Intro to Initial D Ver. 2, when all those little mini races are going on, was a preview of 4th stage ID. Correct me if I'm wrong, but it kind of made sense to me.

I think the DC2's get the bigger advantage on the corners on Irohazaka... I've seen DC2's who don't go below 110 through the hairpins... Which IMO is pretty fast, i dunno how it compares with what others have seen...

i say its too unrealistic. how are you going to turn the steering wheel so much at like, 150 mph+? i say that ID ver.1 and ver.2 is to divert kids away from actual drifting, making it seem real easy and what not, when we all know how complex it really is. right? grin2.gif

150 mph no 150 KM which is like 80 MPH so yes you can turn the steerin wheel at 150km plus the cars only go like 215 km tops wink2.gif

The first manga comes out in 1996 and First Stage first comes out in 1998, Second Stage in 2000 and Third Stage in 2001. 4th Stage will finally be here in 2004, so we waited for 3 whole years.

HELL YES!

With the quality of the tokyopop dubs, I dont think anyone will care if they have the rights to it or not.

I know that a lot of fan sub groups stop distributing their stuff if someone purchases a local lisence, but I think this case could be an exception.

I think that's either Extra Stage or Battle Stage. No way it can be the real Fourth Stage. Reasons: 1) 4th Stage has not even air in Japan yet. 2) 4th Stage is going to be like a series (13 episodes I presume). 1 DVD will not be able to hold that many episodes. 3) Look at the price.

No, not quite. The recap movie/episode is usually just a collection of flashbacks with a narration. Nothing new at all and most likely not at all enjoyable, basically don't get it full stop. When I recieve mine i'll post exactly what it is and how good or bad it is.

I got the DVD this morning and watched it. It is basically a recap movie with some narration from Itsuki and Takumi. There is a bit at the end though showing some of the making of Fouth Stage with brief interviews with the creators. It is partially presented by Keiichi Tsuchiya and there are clips showing him driving all the cars for the new series for research and to record all the seperate sounds etc. It finishes off by interviewing MOVE and it shows part of the new theme to which the video is set in the snow with the main guitarist prancing about with spiked white hair. And that is pretty much it. Oh and the subs are pretty bad.

I think all they are doing is trying to wait on the manga releases until the manga reaches another point where the anime can end... I guess the next anime season (if it were to air after 4th Stage using up to Volume 28) could cover the whole Saitama arc but it would kinda just end with the EVO team and that's that... Unlike how 4th Stage will end with a certain AWD car appearing at the very end smile.gif

Anything Initial D you can get from emule. Make sure to open up the right ports (4242, 4660-4667) get on razorback or any other similiar server and do a search, it will all come up. Untill recently I was sharing my entire initial D collection all the series, movie millenium box music etc. Although I took it off now but i'm still sharing some of the mangas. Check it out you can find them. Although I haven't heard of any fandubs either. How you could endure one is beyond me though.

NEW UPDATE!!!

I saw what I think is a bootleg version of Fourth Stage Initial D at Toonmania, a huge anime store here in our local mall. I asked if I could check out the box and I did. The only thing on it was a green background with a Trueno in the middle of the cover. It said Initial D Fourth stage in Japanese then said the actual words Fourth Stage in handwriting on the side of the DVD case. I sure hope it's not a scam. Do any of you think it is? Next time I go there I'll have them throw it on to preview it since they DO let you watch anime in the store. What a bunch of shit if it is a scam! mad.gif

His GC8V is blue, but in the arcade stage is grey its because in the Arcade stage they only offer the stock colours. The blue is not a stock colour for the GC8V. There is another example with Kenta's S14 there is not orange in the Arcade Stage

if anyone play storymode stage 3 in SPECIAL STAGE. you can recognise a similarity with the game and the movie. in the game you have to make tooru retire and in the anime tooru crash. if im correct i think takumi would vs a civic next and k.t would chellenge smiley (dc2), and the course is not happo.

I wouldn't mind Battle stage had better CG than the show at the time but this time its like kinda cell shaded so I dunno if it can be improved but yeah looks bleak to see Keisuke battle in 4th..... Ohwell take solace in the fact that maybe after 2 more eps you'll see the GC8V come out. UH If they decide to not do the Iketani Vs Two boys from Tokyo stuff then yeah that'd probably be another 2 EPS...
Thats what iam fustrated at really its only coming out every other month but it took two eps to finsh the Daiki stuff.

my guess on what happens next:

Episode 7 - GC8 vs. AE86 on Akina..Bunta against Takumi. On the same morning, Ryosuke found out Kenta has been practicing driving in the dark and got in an accident. *That Actually happened in the manga*
Maybe the S15 Two guys from Toyko vs. Takumi AE85 Turbo.
Probably after would be the introduction to Kyoko

Dunno if Introduction of Nobuhiko's Team is gonna be in this episode, probably.

Episode 8 - Kyoko vs. Keisuke/Takumi vs. Nobuhiko
Kyoko vs. Keisuke has to be shown, since it is the more interesting one here, a chance of Takumi finally being cut because of......Coughpwnagecough.

Episode 9 - mostly story...i'll do this one later

Yes, Tsui Hark was the initial choice of director. He was directing halfway when there was some conflicts in where the locations to be flimed.
Tsui Hark wanted to flim in the locations showed in ID and somewhere in europe, but the film company felt it's too exp... and heard it's something to do with the profit sharing...now it's someone else, like the team that directed infernal affairs..

the 5th stage movie (and it might not be a movie, its just that everything points to another movie for some reason) is most likely not the end of Initial D. Since the Manga is still continueing then the story isn't finished yet. However one day the manga will end (hopefully they keep pumping out more smile2.gif and they will make the last stage of Initial D. Hopefull its in a 3 hour long movie biggrin.gif.

it should be similar to fast and the furious without all the cheezy special effects and riced out cars, if i was to make a movie of initial d it would be all of first stage for the first one and for the second movie 2nd and 3rd stage.......that would be awesome

you can check the latest translated manga to see, but it obviously wont be the same, or as good (well i think so, when you consider the dramatic sound effects that will most likely play tongue.gif) as when the anime shows it
