Toyota has brought its A game to the 2014 Detroit Auto Show, showing off the striking FT-1 Concept. Short for "Future Toyota," the FT-1 is, we're imagining, the supposed Supra Concept we reported on early in December.

If the Toyobaru is any indication, it'll be more than I want to pay for one. <50k would be sweet.

In 1995 the base model Mark IV was cheaper than the Corvette.
The Corvette right now is $51,000 so it is possible for it to be less than $50K.

The body doesn't have the soul of the JZA80 Supra, but I hope the return of the Straight 6 Engines does. Just make the production model with a STRAIGHT-6 PLEASE TOYOTA!

Hello.

Okay, fine. I take that back. No one* does straight-six engines anymore.

Except for every single model in their entire range (excluding the new electric things and Rolls and Mini), yeah.

And the Aussie Ford Falcon.

And TVR, assuming they'll still make you a car.

But yeah, they're really hard to find anymore. Dodge's formerly straight six diesel is now a v6. That was the most recent one to die, IIRC.

Don't matter?

The 335is SHOULD have been the M. The N54/5 is a very impressive engine with tons of potential, as factory equipped, over the OE output. They do tend to be pretty maintenance heavy, but they are German, after all.

I haven't heard of them being any more maintenance intensive after modding than they are stock.

Plenty of failure points, though.

I'unno. It's been a while since BMW built the S54B32 that produced 338 HP for the E46 M3 compared to the TwinPower HPFP-failing N54. Sure, they shoved it in a 1 series (1 series M coupe) but that's about it.

I doubt they know what they're doing anymore when it comes to M cars of yesteryear (insert emissions bickering here).

I don't like the front. Something about it doesn't sit right with me. Maybe its that bulge in the middle.
