i dl bittornado last night folowing takumi trueno's advice in the pinned subject. But the folder had too many random things that i couldnt figuire out. I opened "shortcuttobtdownloadgu" and it worked, so i started dl the prelude to project D and it worked, but how do i resume dl? and did I use the right program, if not, what did i do wrong and how do I fix it

Posted by: Perry Sep 1 2004, 12:06 PM
After you installed BitTornado, you don't have to open anything in the folder. Just click on the torrent link in a thread, then it'll start download. If you want to resume next time, just click on the same torrent link in a thread, it'll resume download.

P.S. - Remember to seed after you are done with the download. : )

Posted by: Takumi Trueno Sep 1 2004, 03:05 PM
Well some of what you said Perry is true. BUT in order to resume downloads you must save in the exact same spot that you have saved it before. Another thing is depending on your version of Bit Tornado. There is an option to "auto-resume". When you click the same torrent to download it again, Bit Tornado will save it in the same place and resume the download. Under "ask where to save there is the option to have "auto resume" on.

What the crap are you talking about... She didnt say anything about a video problem or anything related to that matter. And obviously her question was answer because she did not post asking again.

Btw, LiLxAzNxDrIfTeAx22, I've seen you around the board posting this past hour. STOP IT. You are bringing up useless stuff in threads (also outside this thread) and bumping stupid 1 year old threads.

I dont like BitTornado try using http://azureus.sourceforge.net/.Ive used a lot of differnet BT clients and this one is the best. No hassles, less memory usage, auto-resume, you can choose the files you want to dl and it has plugins like safepeer fear2.gif Just my 2 cents.

After upgrading to Azureus 2.2.0.0 I am now seeing the top menu and other labels in the configuration looking... ummm well... odd ermm2.gif

Is it just my Azureus 2.2.0.0 client or are other having problems as well?

here is a pic of what i am talking about:

bah sorry i found out....

http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1058084&group_id=84122&atid=575154

to fix you must close your Azureus clients then delete the folder:

Under unix, this is usually:
~/.Azureus/

Under Windows, this is usually:
.../Documents and Settings/username/Application Data/Azureus/

Under OSX, this is usually:
.../Users/username/Library/Application Support/Azureus/

~thanks to nolar from the SourceForge.net community~

after you delete the folder when you open up your client you have to reconfigure your clients because it clears all your settings... and gets rid of your records and statistics for seeding and downloading dry.gif

but if fixes the strange menu labels w00t2.gif

my relative updated and didn't get any of that "bug" you have. weirddd... maybe i should wait a bit before updating first. =)

what a good and fast bittorrent to have? that have the feature of resume of course. it must be free as well =P

give you know one can you give me a site. the one i currently have is too slow. 30kbs on a 512k connection.

Posted by: ryot4 Nov 12 2004, 08:02 PM
what do you need it for... besides the obvious.
which one do you have?

Posted by: Strider Nov 12 2004, 08:03 PM
get supernova

Posted by: tensai Nov 12 2004, 08:06 PM
are you talking about the program, there are a lot of different ones

the one i use is ABC, it lets you resume, pause and more

Posted by: ryot4 Nov 12 2004, 08:21 PM
it's been my experience that the bt client doesn't matter... i have had dozens of bt clients, and they've all had the same speed... it actually depends on your/their connection. you can't say, ok i'll download bitcomet and now that same torrent will become increasingly faster.

for simple downloading/uploading, resuming (altho it has no button, it will resume when opened again). the official bt client is probably the best choice, since it's small - not complicated - and effective.

http://bittorrent.com/download.html

but if you have other intended uses for bt, then you might wanna get bitcomet or bittornado.

suprnova.org does not provide bittorrent, only suprnova.com which charge you $$$. anyways... im looking for a site that have a huge varieties of ps2 games, even though suprnova have some, it does not have alot.

My experiences contradict yours then. Because of my DSL modem I can't utilize clients like BitTornado because my modem doubles as a wierd router that only seems to foward ports half the time. Azureus seems to be more compatable with my connection and at my friend's house I've tested giving me a faster download rate.

well slow download speeds might not be the bittorrent problem

you might have a problem with firewall porting or cache...

do you use a Upnp setup?

All in all, it's is a differance in program. I myself use "Azures", Its got a handfull of features i like.

Posted by: Cluns1414 Nov 20 2004, 03:15 PM
I use BitComet. It's a program writtin C++. It does the same as Azures, but its not such a memory hog sense it doesnt run off of java.

I agree wit the bittornado...I dont' know much about either prog but I had bittorent first and switch over to bittornado cause it configured all the ports and stuff (dont understand that but I know it makes the downlaods work)...I like the interface too..yea bit tornado thumbs up...check the sig

anyone use this program? and i cant even use this program anymore..... it acts really weird, when i open it just loads in my task manager and nothing happens after that.

guessing maybe its spyware or something with my registry. any help cause i havent been able to seed and sucks running multiple bitorrent windows when i can use just one instead to help seed. thanks

I havent been able to use this program either. It seems pretty good. I have heard some interesting things about it. But I cant get it to work.

Posted by: yamate010 Dec 25 2004, 06:56 AM
happy.gif Yaa, it's a good P2p softwares. It uses Java Script so that the download speed is damm fast! I'm using it now. Try to install it after u reformat ur PC. Just 1 thing to say, Azerues is better then other P2P download programmes like Bittorrent and Bittornado!~

Posted by: RakeRon Dec 25 2004, 09:55 AM
Vamate: You're a Shmuck. It doesn't use Java Script, it uses Java. Java =/= Java Script. And Azurues is a BitTorrent client. Maybe you meant better than the other BitTorrent clients? And kill the short hand, it makes you look like an idiot and a total noob online. https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=10596

Thats probly why you guys are having a hard time using it because Windows doesn't come with the Java VM anymore due to a law suit by Sun Microsystems some while back. Just go to Java.com and download the latest version. That should do it. Aslo, word of advice: go to the options section on the tools menu and change your default port from 6881 to anything else because it seems like isps are throttling common bittorrent ports nowadays and some trackers ban the common ports because of that.

Posted by: Kakashi Dec 25 2004, 07:56 PM
Azureus is really good and sometimes fast when you get everything set up correctly.

Posted by: crzydriftin Dec 25 2004, 08:03 PM
y did i start this thread? cause i thought maybe some people that use this program on this forum could help me out..... but i havent been able to seed lately. just opening too many bitorrent windows, really slows down your comp.

found out its something with the java so its uninstalled and have to work backwards to get rid of spyware or whatever-ware it is plaguing my comp..... and what Kakashi said about getting the settings right for that program, its true that u get faster dl/ul speeds. just havent been able to get these small bug problems gone. freakin mutated bugs..... sad.gif

next time search here... it's a site that has all sorts of info on file sharing programs... it looks legit.

http://www.slyck.com/index.php

but you might wanna reformat or clean up any viruses/spyware on pc first... azureus runs fine in my compy.

Im trying to do port forwarding for use with Bit COmet....using a DSL 512k connection.....getting only 5-10k, 20k max for downloads.

Im using a D-Link 504G.....and this router is weird ass~~ It's nothing like my Linksys....the admin page is crap~

At the port forwarding section, all it has is DMZ, enable disable, set IP

And for PF, Private IP, Protocol type, Private port, Public port ?? to ?? on ?port

It doesnt have a application section to specify the values for them

Crap~~ Can someone help me??

How did you do it? Im getting slow d/ls from torrents and kazaa-lite...

Posted by: DriftSkillz2k5 Jan 17 2005, 06:31 PM
There are 2 possible reasons why yuou are getting slow downloads off of either torrents, or Limewire, iMesh, w.e. 1. Your connection sucks, or something si wrong with your computer. and 2. there are nto very many people with the file you are trying to download, or none, therefore ythere is nowhere really to take the files from. Thats why i recomend http://www.animesuki.com because everytime i have downloaded from there, i get @least 20 kb/s and from exp. with downloading initial D, thats pretty good. TRy it. if you dont have a torrent, try http://www.bittorrent.com. Happy downloading

Posted by: zomg Jan 20 2005, 07:41 AM
If you want a quick and easy solution with D-Link or SMC routers/switches, just hit DMZ to "enabled" for your IP.

DMZ=DeMilitarized Zone, meaning that every port which isn't already port forwarded to some other IP, is forwarded to the DMZ IP, it's almost like the router wouldn't be there at all.

Ok so first ill say im sorry if this was already posted or something. I need help configuring Bitcomet. im wondering about port fowarding, firewall configuring, everything that will help my speeds in bitcomet. My connection is around..313kbps and in bitcomet my max dl is like..around 30kbps

Posted by: BOZZ Jul 5 2005, 09:40 AM
For port forwarding it's listed under preferences... Not sure about the firewall stuff... Sometimes depending on the number of seeds and what you are downloading you will indeed have a much higher upload rate than your download rate....

Posted by: vi3tl2ice Jul 5 2005, 11:11 AM
Should i enable public DHT network for taskes?

Also how do i seed with this program?

Posted by: zomg Jul 5 2005, 01:47 PM
30kB/s is a high and mighty speed for BT.

Seeding is done (with any prog) by leaving the torrent open after you have completely downloaded it.

And for firewalls...
Look what is your port in BT, usually 6881. You need to open that port in your firewall... since you're already getting stuff at 30, you prolly have it already open.

Are you behind a router? If your router is not UPNP, just forward the ports manually.

Using BitLord at the moment now. Used Bit Tornado before this new client. IMO, BitTornado was the best client that I have ever used and pushed downloads to 160kb/s with it. Now I am trying BitLord to see how good it is.

Im using Bitcomet and ive downloaded 70 % of this file right and ive pulled out the harddrive that i was downloading it onto and i coppied my bitcomet folder over to my new computer with the partily downloaded files. But for some reason it just wants to star the download all over again!??! is there a way to make it see the partily downloaded files and continue it?!

Sorry if this is in the wron area

Posted by: aftermath Dec 5 2005, 04:00 AM
Try another client like BitLord or BitTornado, and in BitTornado's Pref window, choose "Ask where to save:" to "always", the load the torrent then it will let you choose where you want to put the downloaded files. In your case, you want to resume the download, select the folder where that partial downloaded files are. Remember, torrent downloads usually makes a seperate folder on the selected folder, for example, if you have a "Initial D 1st Stage" torrent file & you put the download directory to "C:\My Videos\" the files would be in "C:\My Videos\Initial D 1st Stage\", so if you're gonna resume it with the same torrent file, you should select "C:\My Videos\" as its download directory NOT "C:\My Videos\Initial D 1st Stage\".

Thats all. =) Hope it helps you.

You would have to make sure the file name and directories for the file matchup then on the file in BitComet you would have to right click and select manual hash check, it should continue if the file is fine and not corrupted...

Btw... Is there another client like Bit Comet in which you can encode packets from your downloads?

I use http://www.utorrent.com/. Its small and compact (only 115KB!) but it is very fast and powerful. I've tried alot of torrent clients in the past but personally I think this one is the best.

Hi everybody!

I'm a member for 1 or 2 months on this forum, & I like it, lots of stuff and infos. I use BitTornado, I'm kinda new about torrents and stuff. So I'm asking for help from people who are experiemented about those things. I'd like to know how do I seed files? I only know how to download, not seeding, and if you have any other technical infos that you can give to a beginner, I'd really appreciate. Takumi Trueno is obviously doing an amazing job, and all other moderators and administrators of this forum too. So I'd be happy to contribute in some months cuz right now I'm using a 56k connection & in some months I'll buy a new computer, very powerful with a DSL or Cable connection. As Takumi Trueno said on another topic, teamwork will help us a lot. So if you admin guys need help about seeding First Stages torrents, you can all count on me. Keep up the good work!

does anyone know of another client that lets u download files individually from a torrent (besides bitcomet because it screwed up somehow and it doesnt work now)

nvm i was too lazy to look at the above posts and found another client sorry for the incovience......moderators delete this if you want

i am currently using Azureus
but the problem is that my download speed keeps the same at 1,9 kbs

what is the problem then ?

Posted by: coolblue May 15 2006, 04:28 AM
I'm having a problem with Bitcomet! dry.gif
Before I start, I used to use the BitTorrent client without the following problem. I'd switch back to it but the 60-70 KB/s I get with Bitcomet is much better then the 3-4 KB/s I get with BitTorrent.

Everytime I start using it I can no longer use my internet connection for "anything" else. Ie. I can't surf the web, play online games, use msn, etc. And once I want to get back on the internet for whatever reason I have to:

1. Power-cycle my router.
2. Release and renew my network card (or wireless adapter if thats what I'm using).
3. And if those two fail (1 out of 10 times), I have to reboot my computer.

I was just wondering if anyone can help me with this one, because I'm lost on this one. crying2.gif

My router is a Linksys WRT54G and I'm using XP Media Center Edition (2002).

i thought maybe posting here would be the most sensible thing to do. so please dont flame on me..(since i cant post a new thread in this section, and posting in any other, would be retarded)

so, i have utorrent, but my download rates are like 0.1-39.0 kbs however it only goes past 18 on a blue moon.

its regularly around 3.1 and floats anywhere from 0.0-14.0 or around there.

heres the weird thing. my limewire can download 16-109kbs. whats with that? and if im dling like 7 things, i can get 70kbs easy.

so how come limewire downloads faster than utorrent?

thanks...

btw. i run cogeco on my laptop, and i get connection through a wireless linksys card that goes to this router thingy (with 2 antennas)

help me out because im nooby when it comes to computer whistling.gif

yes, that should work. just make sure you dont touch any of the files associated with the torrent (ie. the location of where it is downloading to, as well as where the actual .torrent file is).

just uninstall bitcomet, then install uTorrent and continue downloading.

and if it doesnt work, just leave bitcomet for that particular torrent download, then change over when its finished.

Posted by: thrill3rnit3 Sep 19 2006, 03:41 PM
ok..lets assume i switch clients with still active torrents...i change the download directory to where the files are being saved...and the downloads starts where it left off? or it starts all over again?

just as long as you still have the uncompleted torrent files somewhere on your harddrive while you change the client, you should be able to resume it, because the client should ask where you want to save the files the first time you run the torrent. just make sure you select the folder where you originally moved/downloaded it to, and it should resume from where the old client should left off.

It will start all over again. Only one client can be used with the exception of Mainline\uTorrent which can work together. happy.gif
