We all understand that we hold down the brake all throughout the hairpin, right? Or at least, that's what it looks like?
Here's my theory. If you're on the brake at 60KPH coming out of a turn, and someone else is at 60KPH on the same turn but is just gliding out of it, he's going faster. Just like how the speedometer isnt 100% truthful, the braking makes us slower.

yep.

Most players after they knew there is tire management in ID5, slowed down too much, accelerate too late.
Go ahead and increase the pace while controlling the weight of the car when cornering. Have fun experimenting and you will find that you do not really need to conserve the tires too much to be faster.

heeh... interesting point there...
having fun.. push harder... i get red for CP1, CP2, CP3 and white for CP3.. overall slightly faster o_O
calm down push less... i get white for CP1, CP2, CP3 and red for CP3.. overall slightly faster also O_o

lol.. sometimes the game just boggles me... o_o O_o o_O O_O >_<

any pointers on how to decide when to go faster and when to slack off?

4 wheeled sideways slide = bad?
rear end slides too much and attempts to overtake the front requiring countersteer = bad?

is the cornering 'line' something like this?
http://img213.imageshack.us/img213/6720/turn23uy6.jpg
or will any of these work too?
http://phors.locost7.info/images/17image01.gif
(cornering right to left)

just feeling question-y today. no obligations to answer any laugh.gif ...

not talking about drift mode here... now that is a different puzzle altogether... i think. grin2.gif ...

Eat as much inner line as possible without turning the wheel too much.
playing the weight of your car plays a very important part for this.

Er. Well. Technically, dont we start sliding when we corner? That's why our tires are making noises, because they're trying to grip while you sling a huge mass they're attached to, ne? Watching my replays, yeah, I'm pretty sure our rear end isnt 100% stuck to the line. But yar. Countersteer moment = Bad unless you're pushing the final turn or something. I've been told before that if you're not sliding, you're not going fast enough.

That IS a good question... When do we speed up and when do we hold back?

S'pose if your acceleration is shot after CP1, you better slow down...But how do we know about it before it happens?

Guys, I need some help here. I am driving Evo 7 Tuning 1-4-2-4-0. I get stuck around 3'17 in Irohazaka Downhill Dry even after watching the youtube video (minimum speed of 39-49 per turn on average).

Today I asked someone who is better than me to drive my car, he got 3'14. Why is our time so slow compare to the youtube 3'04? I know that is probably a world record but I would be satisfied with a below 3'10 time.

spend more money to play this game will net you below 3'10.
don't expect to spend little and get good timings.

New akina theory regarding boost.

As long as I can overrev 5th gear at 158; I still have boost on the last section. Therefore, once I come out of the turn after the last consec, I can push the next two hairpins at 80ish speeds. 90 even, if Im right.

Need to experiment still.

Played it for the first time today. I must say it is difficult to go from IDAC3 to IDAC5. I find myself smacking walls in turns. Been playing Nagao and im having difficulty, seems I gotta brake more.

Hmm...this has my mind boggling at certain times. Ok, another scenario pinch2.gif

I'm doing Irohazaka DHD. When approaching the hairpin I brake when my car reaches the yellow lines on the road(well some have and some don't). It's not always a brake when I reach it as some may be late. Downshift then brake, taking the hairpin at 45-55 km/h. For the turn before the first jump, I mostly take the corner at 50-60 and for the consecutive jumps, I'll mostly take them at 40-50 with some light braking for the shorter ones(I do miss a jump). The turn before the last set of consecs. and before the straight, I usually release the gas while at a lower gear(3 probably).

Not sure if there's anything wrong in what I'm doing, would need a veteran to point things out...btw I accelerate when I'm completing about 90-95% of the turn for all CPs. Maybe thats why I keep getting bad timings? ermm2.gif

Speaking of Iro.

We wear out our tires because we apply alotta friction on them, rubber to asphalt, correct?
Well, what about the leaves on the ground?

They're not asphalt, so there's less traction, less force that shreds the tire...
Which would mean more boost if you use them more? >.>

I had a question about just how full tune cars feel. I recently full tuned my FD and I'm slowly full tuning up my evo IV. It seems that slowly the evo IV is slowly beginning to feel like driving my FT FD. Are all cars FT'ed basically feel the same? To all cars almost drive the same?

No. There's a tangible difference between how an FF, an FR, and a 4WD corner without throttle input. For example; An EK9 will resist slide dramatically; whereas a Miata will happily swing it's tail out. An Impreza will hold it's ground and minimize drift.

Even if a car is FT; anyone with better lining, brake, and accel timing can probably keep up with; if not pass someone with an FT car using a stock car. The game isnt all that dependent on tuning unless the player's skills are close together.

I have one s2000 FT.
Well my only 6 gear car... I prefer 5 gear car instead.
Up to individual. I agree with digibunny, mainly depend on player's skills.
For TA, you would find the different in timing.
For battle mode, not much different except aceleration at the start and brake.
Ultimately depends on individual's play method.
Have fun experimenting sorcerer.gif sorcerer.gif
