In every course (sans Irohazaka and Tsukuba) I like using the Five in Four out technique. It makes entry a little trickier but at the same time it saves time if you land it correctly.

I use a 'straight line' tactic when taking zigzags and S-turns with the opponent in sight- I used this against Dr Toshiya and overtook him one third of the race on Tsukuba and never looked back.

Basically when you can see your opponent turning a corner that turns the other way later, instead of also turning left and right, simply target him (or her , in Impact Blue/Kyoko's case) like you want to ram him but turn in the proper direction as soon as you can so you don't hit the boundaries!

It's similar to the 'infinite lines' technique in the manga as well as Smiley Sakai's "trap" idea, although in this case you're catching up and not ahead.

(in layman's terms, drive straight!)

how effective is feinting?

a lot of people in my area use it on Iro DH/UH but i go faster using the in-to-in wall rape.

still my question is how effective is it? cus if i can go faster, i'll use it.

Because Irohazaka is a one-way road it's a bit narrower than other roads and feinting doesn't really help- that course in particular rewards the wall-scraping in Ver. 4.

Unlike Vers 3 though, the cars in Ver 4 swing more easily just with the steering wheel and a bit of brake so feinting is not a good idea- especially against Takumi and other AE86 drivers who always take the innermost road.

I personally prefer to stay a bit off the middle and just use steering wheel and brakes to swing my car side to side- no changing my line to feint.
