So I went to Odaiba in Tokyo today and headed to Sega's Tokyo Joypolis with some friends. I figured I may as well try out AS4 Limited while I was there biggrin.gif

We lined up and were in within a short time and I was lucky enough to get into the AE86 set up, while my friend got his choice of Keisuke's FD. There were passenger seats so our female other halves for the day were able to join us for the ride.

Driving through the game was just crazy - I consider myself pretty good at AS4 so I shot for Irohazaka and raced against Kai, much to the delight of my passenger. Playing through AS4 wearing a racing harness and having the car moving around me made it really difficult to drive as normal though - I ended up reversing myself, despite winning by a good margin anyway.

Anyway it was a wicked experience and my friend Tomoe loved it, despite not knowing anything or caring about cars. She was suitable impressed by the win and my only regrets are not being able to use my own card, not being able to battle my friend and not being allowed to get any photographs!

oh gosh.. would really really wish i could go there once and try them out.. how much is it like per game? guess there is no hogging on the machine..

no camera's allowed?? DARN!!! hahha not an everything thing if ur AS4 lifestyle is only so so small in this part of the world..

Imagine how much $$$ they had to put into making three real depictions (AE86T, FD3S, GC8) of the cars. Card or no card, battle or no battle, it's worth it.

As for the pictures part, do they have security guards? Perhaps we can sneak away with a camera phone shot?

Whoa, you can bring along a passenger!?!?! Can you bring others along on the back seat? It'll be more cool if the instrument panel really works along with the clutch.

I'd like to try Bunta's WRX though...

I'm guessing AS4 limited is similar to the Ver.3 one that moved around when you turned the wheel.

Also.. is AS4 limited the same thing as that one that has the moving AE86, FD and Impreza?

I just went back yesterday haha, so I'm fresh from it once again!

Yeah Arcade Stage 4 Limited is the one where they the have the WRX, FD and 86 set up to move as you drive. It's actually surprisingly difficult because of the force from the movement added to a real bonnet and steering wheel blocking your view more. As far as price goes, it's 600yen for one race per driver. Passengers don't have to pay, but you have to line up for a long time if it's busy. Last night I guess we waited about 30-40mins which was amazingly tolerant of my girlfriend.

The game is very much not an arcade game so I really don't care, because it's far more like an amusement park ride. I'm pretty sure you can have more passengers in the back, as the first time I went one of the girls went in the back seat of the FD because she was too scared to sit in the front seat. I guess if you have enough people, sure...

As far as pictures go, I took a couple while I was waiting in line but during the race and inside the cars no pictures are allowed. If people want me to I guess I can post them up, but it's just the same shots as you can find on the Japanese IDAS4 website about Arcade Stage 4 Limited.

Oh man. I played this yesterday. My girlfriend and I were standing in line and she says "Oh god, I hope we don't get the middle car, it's so ugly". By the time we were able to go up, the 86 was the only car open, so we got stuck with it, at any rate. It was really fun, I love how the cars have more or less full interior.

I wanted the FD. I know the tach in the 86 was fully working, I was wondering about the other cars, but, Mika didn't feel like waiting in line again and I didn't really either. Soooo we left for the other mall across the way. It was pretty funny though 'cause after playing an actual game of IDAS4 Vs. Takumi in LOTS she said "I understand why the 86 is a good car now".

God I love Japanese women. >_>

Edit: Oh yeah, here. It's nothing special but..

Picture of the FD via. my cell. 8D I'd like to get some more of the interiors.

I didn't play Irohazaka. I raced Keisuke on Akagi.

I freaking hate Irohazaka on IDAS4.

Totally not fun for me at all. sad.gif I used to love it.

I don't think this game will ever make it overseas. It takes up too much space and people would just abuse the machines. Probably just Asian countries near Japan. I don't know, just my opinion.

Arcade Stage 4 Limited will only ever be in Japan... I think it's obvious why.

Oh yeah, Cappuccino, 2 Sugars - I think I raced you the other day, I remember racing a クリス that could've been with a Cappuccino... you know how the battles all blur together, though.

Look out for me - へたくそ biggrin.gif
