lawl. on the contrary,
i think i wouldn't like v3 because
of the many "techniques" that are
used by people. i mean, feint drifting
that early in many sharp turns is difficult
enough for me lol. and TST + other stuff = me screwed.

I like arcade stage 4, especially the 1.5 ver. It's so drifty and i like it. But I still wish I could start drifting when I brake and not when I turn the steering wheel.

i went back to ver.3 from ver.4, i couldnt handle, not stand, but HANDLE the graphics of ver.3, and ver.4 messed up my line so much i had a hard time oversteering and fienting and EVRYTHING.

so ver.3 ftw.

I will still prefer v4 of IDAS, more realistic graphic and driving. In IDAS v3, it does not think that the car is drifting, it's like dragging to a corner.

I think SEGA should modify Bunta Challenge in IDAS v3 and add in to IDAS v5, it's a bit unfair I could say, Bunta have sudden boost and the top speed can be much higher and the acceleration is faster than us..

To the naysayers of V3 techniques:
You dont need them to play the game, and win. You also dont need them for decent/good time attack. Unlike Stage 4 (prior to patch) which PC was integral to the part of playing the game. And now its removed, look at how many people play the game still. inb4 the lack of auras which made it steer people away, I highly doubt it.

Bunta in V3, even though he always somehow is faster than 'usual', godlike accel, it actually teaches you how to block and be good at it.

I 'm gonna have to vote for 3. I will say that I haven't had the pleasure to get down and dirty with v4 yet, but I've played it on the PS3, and wasn't too happy with it. I like ver3 (notice the "like", as in present tense, yeah I still play it) because as opposed to what I see in videos now, it doesn't look all too fun to me. V3 made me learn to use techniques to get faster times, and overall, had more of a variety of techniques to get better at the game. So they say that V4 is more balanced? Well, maybe to the battler that would be more of a plus, but for TAers, it just means that you need another car for your time attacks. I'm a time attacker and always will be and I like V3 overall as a better game.

Just looking at how V4 plays, I know that I wouldn't get that feeling of accomplishment if I beat a time of someone who could just beat it with another car that's slightly better because everything's a bit more even as far as tiers go. V3 made me push a car as far as I could just to beat another time set by the same car. The level playing field was set, and it was left to the players to show that they could get lower times with it.

Maybe I'm living in the past while still spending money on V3, but as long as I enjoy it and have times that aren't mine to beat, then I'll be playing V3 until they haul them off for the next game to come.

I haven't played V4 yet so I'm not voting, but through my (little) experience with V3, V3 seems to have a better physics model. Plus the graphics aren't that bad.

Just a thought: This poll isn't exactly accurate.

It was made after 90% of the v3 players on this forum stopped playing and posting here. laugh.gif

I think if this poll was reset now, v3 would be on top. The majority changed opinions of ID4 once the downfall occurred. When the game was brand new, it was popular because it took people a little bit of time to realize how bad it really was...in my biased opinion.

I choose ID4 because the gameplay is nice and easy. Also, the customization for the cars is cool as you can mix and match different body kits, spoilers, rims, etc. And the performance tuning is very great. happy.gif

I tried playing IDv3, but the gameplay is quite hard.

More realistic physics? I'd have to disagree with that. Since when is taking an in-in-out line while wall-raping through the course in order to get a fast time realistic?

True, IDAS4 is more drift-happy compared to IDAS3, but that doesn't mean that IDAS4 physics is more "true-to-life". Neither game is realistic, and IMO it wouldn't be fair to compare them based on realism.

IMO however, IDAS3 physics had a lot more depth than IDAS4's. In IDAS3 there were a lot of ways to attack corners, and the physics allowed for many different ways of attacking the corners and still running a decent time.

In IDAS4 it's the same routine all over again, even with different cars. The only thing you need to consider is the proper line and the brake points for each course.

No one could have said it better. I agree with this more than any other statement in this whole thread.

well i have to agree with you on that.. besides wall raping and stuff.. but in real life they do use the in-out line.. it's called feint i think pinch2.gif know nothing much about it.. but i just play the game.. just what i thnk

^Just clarifying: When I said in-in-out I meant approaching and apexing the turn on the inside, which is what is done for a lot of corners in IDAS4. Feinting is something completely different. smile.gif

Incidentally, feinting was used heavily in IDAS3 to get better exit speeds, but is next to useless in ID4 (except on the v-turn). laugh.gif

While neither really held my attention for very long I voted for 4 because it resembles driving a car a bit more. Nothing really bugs me more about IDAS than people who are fast in it thinking they are good at driving real cars.

I hope V5 will keep me for more than 400-ish plays, but I doubt it at this point. I'd rather spend that money on GT5P/G25/PS3.

Well I never really played AS4 because the physics turned me off when I saw people playing it. I still play V3 every now and then even though they don't let you use your cards anymore! crying2.gif Also you really didn't need eraser & tst to play and some people who did use it, used it incorrectly. I just didn't want to spend ALOT more money than I already did for V3 either, $20-$30 at most a day! I might play AS5, but no card for me though.

I like V4 because of the response. The V3 machines I play at have huge grips on the wheels and I need to turn them five times as much to get a twitch from the car compared to V4.

I have been itching to play V3 lately. V4 is trash, and I'll stand by that statement.
