QUOTE (DROMOS @ Feb 21 2009, 09:04 AM)
3) You brake on almost every hairpin, and you don't brake for the end run. Check good runs on Youtube.

For akagi and akina and such do you just tap the brakes around before the apex(question mark). Also when you hit the brakes on those kind of maps i heard that advanced players taps the brakes while hitting the accelerator. is that really better...

sorry i play irohazaka too and my question mark button is broken lol

@JuenYang:

Funny that I use an FC but I haven't yet spent enough time studying Akagi tongue.gif

If you're faster than my 3' 12" on Akina DH this might be useless, but anyways I hope this helps.

For Akina DH I brake hard at the hairpins, although I determine the length of time to hold the brakes on my entry speed, and the proper exit speeds courtesy of the super-fast people like ASKA and such on YouTube.

As for the second, you might be referring to the version 1.5 "pc" or penalty cancel, which according to WOLF somewhere in this forum doesn't remove your acceleration lag as much as it used to in version 1.2, but can still help to improve your cornering in some tight hairpins. But it's not recommended to brake WHILE having your gas on at the same time, as either your gas or your brake becomes less effective.

to those who have cleared LOTS at least 10x with maximum difficulty, what are the times i need to beat...
--bunta
--takumi (akina)
--keisuke (tsukuba)
--takumi (tsukuba)
--kai
--ryosuke (akina)

from what i've heard before, 3'05 should be enough to beat 10-star bunta, is that true?

Well...so long as you can block him, then probably yeah. It was usually that way in V3 anyway.

Here's a question. Would controlling how you step on the accelerator affect how you carve through a turn?

when penalty cancelling, should I countersteer first (my FD is leaning heavily to the left or right) or do the PC and then counter steer? Which one give me a better speed/accel?

very very noob questionnn....

for v4 1.2, i read that its every 6 plays, you get the engine upgrade thingy customization....
by '6 plays' it means u gotta eject the card 6 times right?!
Or can you play 6 games straight, then take it out??

or....... am i just getting the whole idea totally wrong?? :S

well what i usually do is i just play a game and when it asks you to continue press no, and then play and then no again. eventually you'll get to the point when you say no it'll give you a customization shop. i think that's a better way because then you won't end up paying an extra dollar to get your shop.

just how the heck do I outrun Takumi after Checkpoint #2 in Akina? I outrun him on the flat bits and the u turn, but he speeds up (damn fifth gear losing speed!) and just blows past me on the 5 consecutive hairpins and then even if I catch up to about 10m behind him he takes the last U turn and just turbos away.

how the hell do I get past this guy?

the best method to beat Ryouske is to stay infront and never look back, do some TA's to practice the map more so when you vs him u can just ease through the map. If you are behind him then i say overtake before the RHOD.

Questions:

1. In initial d 4 Arcade stage,
Which is a better car for beginners?(Note:I'm a beginner)
The Rx-7 Type R(which is a rotary) OR The S2000?(Which some say in the forums is a good car for its balance)

2.How can i drift a little better?which course is good for practicing those hard turns?..

Haha sorry for being super late to the party. The apartment I rented this year has a small local arcade next door with two IDS4 machines. Both are broken in some way though. facepalm.gif

I'm having trouble managing my gears in Tsukuba OB in my stock GC8. On the downhill section I ran into a wall on some consecutive hairpins and dropped to 98km/h I shifted to 3rd but got NO acceleration? I tried to PC (thought I did) and that didn't help too much either. I got beat by 60meters by my friend in her R34.

For Tsukuba am I supposed to stay in 4th-5th with a 5 speed transmission? For Akagi or Akina I can shift down to 3rd if I'm below 121km/h but for Tsukuba it's about 114km/h? What am I doing wrong?

You ARE super late to the party. Its been literally years since and forgotten too much about this game but do still remember if you hit the wall (as it was back in IDAS3), there is a slight lag in your acceleration. PC'ing it wont help, maybe a little but not a substantial amount. Also, unless your friend's R34 is bone stock too, it will have a slight advantage over your GC8.

Alright I'll just slow down for those corners then. I just can't help but want to enter corners fast like drivers I see in several year old youtube videos. And our cars bone stock since I believe that Sega support for the machines. I really wish that I was able to play these machines a decade earlier, the skill to handle is cars is really fun.

Thanks for your help! The local Round 1 arcade is has some IDS8 cabinets so hopefully I can get a card there!

Are there any places I can search for that contain the "speed limit" for corners in every course, or is it just a "go and find out yourself" kind of thing?
