Posted by: mike962 May 17 2014, 05:42 AM |
regarding those 3D models in the ending I wouldn't put too much hope into them most of them were already exsiting from Stage 5 you remember the Mr 2 and red Civic were already in Stage 5 flashbacks the Skyline R32 is Shiniganis recolored to pass as Nakazato one the only one new might be Sudo's Evo 3 but that could appear in Final stage so nothing that new really the Impact Blue S13 very likely same model reused from Extra Stage 2 |

Added two more screenshots in the first post, along with the complete information for the music used in ACT.1 & 2. Head to the https://idforums.net/index.php?showtopic=46883 for more info on the songs used in ACT.1 & 2. Thanks! No news on the raws yet. I don't know when it will become available. It seems not enough interests in Japan for the fans to cap it and share it on the net. If you are in Japan, and wants to help, please let us know. We'll try to walk you through the process of sharing it with all the fans. |

Sorry dudes I have not been keeping up and lost track of the dates. I could have setup Animax and had it to you guys right away... By the time I get setup im sure the first two will be online. Ill try to be setup for the next two stages so we don't have to wait so long. |

I wanted to add myself to the people awaiting the release of any information. Im sure i speak for thousands of people not posting. I looked for a bit for information.... There really isnt any. The hype slowed down, and everyone thought someone was DVRing it, and noone did. Bummer. If i come across it , on my search and you guys here arnt aware, i will be sure and post it. Things take time. As ive waited for english subs for every episode of ever made of ID, sometimes its a month plus before subs appear. People have jobs, and lives. Its never happened like this before. People kind of just forgot about the release. Not even a raw exists. Usually we wait on the subs, not the raw. If i could help obtain the raw, i would. ID and this forum chooses its fans from such a specific, loyal subscriber base, its a shame we cant obtain a raw. I am on my iphone and cant easily scroll up and see who said it, but one subscriber said that he should setup his captureing box and get us a raw. We may have to take you up on that if this continues. Best of luck to all of the (unpaid) staff of the forum, and the ideals you incorporate into the lives of many fans who dont subscribe. I thought it was a PPV kind of thing, if that's true why worry about the broadcast? |
Posted by: himura May 18 2014, 02:43 PM |
patience patience!!!!!!! =D |
Posted by: Nomake Wan May 18 2014, 03:24 PM
The person who posted that was biggamehit, who lives in Japan right now. That being said, I don't believe he has any experience with capping PPV sources so I wouldn't hold my breath on him providing anything. I'm pretty sure he's gonna run into the stream encryption, throw his hands up and apologize for getting our hopes up. Which is totally okay since I expected that already. Capping PPV is a job for the experienced, and the experienced don't always feel like sharing what they paid money for. |
Posted by: mike962 May 18 2014, 05:02 PM |
wouldn't be easier to record such PPV with some old fashioned VHS and then convert the VHS signal to digital ? yeah quality may be lower but that whole encription shit goes out the window |
Posted by: Perry May 18 2014, 05:26 PM
In theory, you can literally use a very nice camera to record your screen, provided the lighting is good and your TV is very high def. There is always a way when there is a will. I think the problem here is there is no one willing to go through the troubles. |
Posted by: revenant24 May 18 2014, 06:35 PM |
I'm also excited to the Raws of the Final Stage! I hope the wait is gonna be too long. And also the graphics in the Final Stage is improved a little bit than the Fifth Stage, I hope that someday that they will make a remake of the 1st up to 3rd Stage of Initial D to improve its graphics. Just hoping! |
Posted by: Nomake Wan May 18 2014, 08:00 PM
You're assuming that the analog hole hasn't been closed for PPV. I'm not saying it has or has not--I don't live in Japan--but I know that that was a big deal back when HDCP first started being a thing so I'd imagine that such an obvious loophole would have been countered by now. That is unless you have specialized equipment to strip HDCP or otherwise bypass the encryption...but that again falls back to my description of an 'experienced' capper who would have access to such technology and knowledge. Your average DVR user doesn't. |
Posted by: Rinnosuke May 18 2014, 08:26 PM
You mean the movies? |
Posted by: biggamehit May 18 2014, 10:51 PM
Don't assume what I know you fucking jerk. Now ban me and I'll return to building my d1 car in Japan!! |

Posted by: Perry May 18 2014, 11:44 PM
Opening post updated with link to the screenshots and download links of the OP and ED1. Check it out! Latest Update: No available raws found anywhere on the Internet. It is truly strange how not even a LQ video source or even cam footage is available. All we have is some screencaps from some random Japanese blogger and that's it. At this point, we should prepare for the worst... that we might have to wait all the way until June 13th for the DVD Vol.1 to release. Just keep checking the thread, but there are no signs that anyone would cap it for us. |
Posted by: RIT_ninja May 19 2014, 12:03 AM |
I'm not sure what a PPV service box looks like in Japan. But isn't it possible to record if it has HDMI output or Analog output. If you connect to a recording device, then to a TV, it should work. About the encryption, I have no idea but I doubt your average Japanese TV "decrypts" anything. Take this assumption for a grain of salt because I never owned a Japanese TV or had PPV service from Japan |
Posted by: revenant24 May 19 2014, 02:17 AM
No, I was pertaining to improve its video/graphics quality to adapt in the modern technology nowadays. I was hoping that someday they will gonna do a remake from 1st Stage up to 4th Stage to improve its video quality, like the video quality of the Fifth Stage |
Posted by: freedom1104 May 19 2014, 02:26 AM
it wont be long i suppose. judging from the ending in final stage. i suppose there will be a hd remake in the future or a brand new battle stage. hope they remake initial d like how bandai remake gundam series. |
Posted by: revenant24 May 19 2014, 04:07 AM
Yeah! I Think that they will gonna do a HD remake in the future after the Final Stage, because other Initial D Die Hard Fans will demand it too. |
Posted by: Nomake Wan May 19 2014, 04:34 AM
Wow, holy shit, what's your problem bro? Obviously if you knew the tech and had a solution we'd already have raws. That we do not have raws proves my point. But please, by all means, prove me wrong. I'm sure there are thousands upon thousands of people here who would love for my hypothesis to be incorrect.
Please see my previous post about the 'analog hole', and look up HDCP the technology. If PPV boxes use only HDCP, then yes, there are ways around it with specific devices (look up how to record from PS3s, for instance). However, if Japanese PPV actually is using some proprietary encryption/signal obfuscation method specific to the Japanese market then that'll be something else entirely. Again, I do not live in Japan. I am talking from the technologist perspective, not the first-person perspective. I'm more than happy to be proven wrong, but the longer we go without a raw the more solid my theory becomes. Doesn't matter too much to me, to be honest. C-A already said they've got the DVDs on tap and will have 'em subbed once they're released, so it's time to kick back and enjoy the festivities. |
Posted by: freedom1104 May 19 2014, 04:35 AM |
anyone notice that there will be 2 ed for final stage? meaning that ep3 and 4 doesnt come with gamble rumble. I bet the second ending song is RAGE YOUR DREAM |
Posted by: Shinra Sgt Zero May 19 2014, 04:57 AM |
It just is kinda funny how there is not one damn RAW file on the internet at all just saying but i think this kinda snuck up on alot of places like they actually forgot about it cause the other anime forums didnt even know it was coming out cause i asked my friends and moderators on those sites ive been working to try and find it guys so if i can will post it |
Posted by: Nomake Wan May 19 2014, 05:40 AM
It's PPV. Fifth Stage was the same way, Wangan Midnight was the same way. It's not strange at all. There's an ongoing discussion in the other Final Stage pinned thread about why that is. You may as well wait for the DVDs instead. That way you won't be disappointed if the PPV raws don't materialize, and you'll be excited properly if they do (plus you won't be holding your breath!). |
Posted by: Heibi May 19 2014, 05:43 AM
Well, until I get a raw or my DVD for 1 and 2 arrives(I'll make my own raw then) we at CA can't do much. I'll have the DVD around 13 June. No promises on when I'll have it done. I hope I'll have them ready within days of receiving the DVD. Of course, it also depends on my translator's work schedule. I'll keep everyone posted. And if a raw comes out before the 13th I'll have my translator jump on it as soon as he can. |

Use VLC. Also, here's the part where I get to have a hearty laugh at C-A's expense (sorry guys!). Right here in episode 1, Nakazato mentions 'footwork' (フットワーク) as part of what's important for a downhiller. He says the actual word. He's referring to the manipulation of the pedals. This is exactly why back during Fifth Stage when the word 'ashimawari (足回り)' was used, the proper translation was 'suspension' and not 'footwork'. By making that decision, it muddles and confuses Final Stage. And so I take an Edgeworth bow. |
Posted by: shephurd May 19 2014, 02:33 PM
Thanks! anyone know when the raw i going to get cooked? |
Posted by: Juke May 19 2014, 02:34 PM
I don't see it as product placement, I see it more as authenticity. I can appreciate that, for example, Keisuke runs an RE Amemiya body kit on his FD, because that's a reasonable choice and adds to the coolness factor. The case of the Bridgestones in 4th stage probably one of the only I can see as product placement, and even then it's very subtle - most people wouldn't notice it.
|
Posted by: spec-al May 19 2014, 02:46 PM |
Is it just me or is the raw kind of choppy in motion? Using VLC and don't usually have a problem. Not here to complain, just seeing if I have a problem on my side. Thanks! |
Posted by: kyonpalm May 19 2014, 02:47 PM
It is very choppy, yes. I also call bullshit on it being 720p, as there are compression artifacts up the wazoo. It's okay, though, this is just a shitty raw. Better encodes will be available in time. |

The choppiness is the capper's end and is either an error converting the TS to MP4 (highly likely) or an artifact of bypassing the encryption/obfuscation (possible). It is not your computer. |

Initial D never had good quality subtitles and picture quality historically speaking, whether it is from the original VCDs (First Stage) or the fansubs or RAWs in today's HD world. It just seems that no one is interested in it compared to other seasonal animes or Shounen or whatever. Not bashing fansub groups that pick up Initial D, but the only good one imo was Live Evil & Ideology. Rest of the Initial D fansub groups were :\ at best imo. |

Couldn't wait so I took the plunge and just viewed the raw. After not watching Initial D for so long, it was refreshing. However, going on a Gundam binge in between meant that I couldn't get the image of Judau Ashta out of my head when I heard Iketani speak... |
Posted by: awddrifter May 20 2014, 01:42 AM
It's very choppy for me too. Might it have something to do with the video not being encoded at 29.97fps? The mediainfo in MPC-HC lists it as Frame rate mode : Variable Too bad I don't have my TV hooked up or Animax, or I would have recorded it ^^; |
Posted by: justxsongs May 20 2014, 03:07 AM
A fren provided the raw video for us. |
Posted by: Nomake Wan May 20 2014, 03:19 AM
It has absolutely nothing whatsoever to do with that. Please see my earlier post explaining the issue. VFR is a modern encoding method designed to save filesize by lowering framerate in scenes that do not change much and increasing it in scenes that are more complex. The issue here is either an issue converting from TS (the original cap format) or an issue with bypassing the PPV protection.
L-E&I, the group that brought you the V6 Miata. |
Posted by: knite May 20 2014, 04:30 AM |
It was also choppy for me in VLC. But when I played it in the CCCP (Combined Community Codec Pack, or something like that) Media Player Classic it played smoothly. |

Thanks - -b |
Posted by: Nomake Wan May 20 2014, 06:04 AM
Then your CCCP must be configured to do some sort of frame interpolation, such as 'smooth video' does in MadVR. It's increasing the output frame rate by 'guessing' what the frames in between are supposed to be. As a note, I recommend KCP (Kawaii Codec Pack) over CCCP for PC users any day of the week. CCCP is ancient, bloated software. KCP is designed for modern formats and hardware. [ Post made via Mobile Device ] |

Yeah, yeah, yeah, I'm posting. I know I said I wouldn't be posting on IDW anymore, but I'm compelled to say something about this latest iteration of Teh Dee since all the noobs are already decrying my vicious review of it on Faithbook. Might as well get some more heat on this hot sexy grill (my abs, naturally). Don't call it a comeback. These episodes have been an expected disappointment. It feels like they finished these episodes a long time ago as the last parts of Fifth Stage, but held them back to act as a hype raft (keep the series alive juuuuust long enough) for the movie coming in August. The first episode (or "Act" for codefags) just jumps right in where Fifth Stage left us hanging, which further bolsters my theory that this was completed last year and held back. There is a total of one Eurobeat track in the entirety of the first episode. The first episode is more than 80% dialog. There is very little racing footage and none of it is particularly groundbreaking. Keisuke's racing at the beginning is deceptive in making one feel that the rest of the show will be as blood pumping, but it never is. All we have is essentially four chapters of the manga worth of characters reacting to Takumi racing this stupid kid and belting out long soliloquies about how meaningful this glacial paced race is to them AND TO THE WORLD because drama = ratings I guess. This is like watching one of those episodes of The Walking Dead where nothing really happens, but there's a lot of dialog leading you to believe that something totally will (and never does), aka most of the last season amirite guys? The second episode thankfully picks things up a little bit, but nothing attention-grabbing happens until we're already fourteen minutes into it, when they pull a Eurobeat track out of their asses... for less than a minute. What the fuck, Avex? This is Initial D. Don't give me only 1/3 of the D. This hombre can handle the whole braunschweiger, no lube, bloody as hell. The song wasn't even that good, but that's beside the point. For a brief moment, I thought, "hey, this feels like my Initial D again!" Bring me more of that and I'll stop being such an asshole about the guttersnipe quality of the series. They had some more cool shit as the episode dragged its nuts along slowly, but nothing that really jumped out at me. The big set-piece of the episode, where...
Total score for these two episodes? Not fucking terrible, but could have been a lot better. Treat this like the end of Fifth Stage, which was awful, and the disappointment is expected, not a surprise. I got a slight chub during some parts, but not enough to reach redline and initialize all over my desk. Sorry, honey, but your best just wasn't good enough. The cash cow that is Initial D the anime series has been milked for too long, and the milk is sour. The movie is coming in August, and it's looking a lot more promising than this curdled mess. SIX POINT FIVE OUTTA TEN, WOULD NOT DRIFT |
Posted by: RIT_ninja May 21 2014, 05:34 AM |
couldn't agree more especially since there was absolutely no meaning to rehash the FD vs NSX race with the only eurobeat song in the entire first episode |

There is no reason to placate the guy that left. He is either actually leaving as he says, or more than likely hunting for sympathy and/or apologies to make himself feel important while at the same time not actually leaving. He's dangling the carrot by saying he's a source for episode raws, creating a dependence among the membership so you have to be nice to him or else "gosh darn it I'm LEAVING AND NEVER COMING BACK!" N1's comment about the door hitting his ass was as it should be. We don't need overemotional kids that can't take criticism clogging the board. You are on a forum. Opinions are going to come up and you will have to learn how to take them both for and against your own. So I will second it: don't let the door hit your ass on the way out. |

That's correct - Nyaa never has issues with copyright. Not one case to my knowledge, in fact (though I'm sure I'm wrong about that). Also, what a whiny bitch.
WOW. WOW. This is the best post I've seen yet (well, until Tessou's). Where do I begin? >anyone can see that its very acceptable, a high quality product >compression artifacts fucking everywhere >frame rate is shit True quality, suitable for playback in any home theater system. >people are so retarded sometimes. they know nothing about technology >[I downloaded with] RealPlayer >2014 >RealPlayer >people are so retarded sometimes. they know nothing about technology Man. Just... man.
Third to suggest caution on that door hitting your ass on the way out. Too bad people didn't suck XJAPAN's dick and praise him for an absolutely shitty encode.
I love you.
And as expected, you're back. Let me say, by the way, I totally understand why these early rips are shit. That's just to be expected - quality comes later. But don't whine about people criticizing your inability to rip a video properly. That's your fault and you'd be childish to argue otherwise, and especially childish to delete the file and run away when you didn't get your way. Fucking internet drama queens, I can't believe I'm doing this today. |
Posted by: Nomake Wan May 21 2014, 09:04 AM |
It occurred to me while watching the second episode that the few (1? 2?) people who said that it 'played smoothly' for them might in fact be seeing the exact same thing we are but are unable to perceive that it is not normal. So it's not like they magically have a different file or that their player is performing some sort of magic on the output...it's that they cannot perceive the 'choppiness' we're all reporting. As for the guy who said it played differently between VLC and MPC(CCCP), that's one of two things. One, it's what I thought initially and his MPC has some sort of smooth video framerate-upscaler enabled that's working like magic, or his MPC is playing the same thing the rest of us are seeing and his VLC just runs shittier. I could see that being the case if he had an ancient computer (for instance, if his MPC is doing hardware acceleration and VLC isn't) or an ancient version of VLC. Just putting that out there. Not everyone knows what they're looking at. Cool that the raws came out relatively quickly, but now we have to wait for proper rips. |

I don't mind the story being a large part of these episodes since this is kind of the build up to the final battle. I expect the third and fourth acts to be very race-heavy. However, two things bugged me to hell about Act 2: 1: Repeated CGI scenes. They used the braking scenes like 6 times between Takumi and Shinji in episode two. In some cases, they didn't even change the background. 2: The ruined use of The Jungle is on Fire. There was barely any racing while the song played, they just had conversations continue over it for the most part. They even had it at full volume when Mika was laying in bed and looking at her phone. Felt very awkward. |
Posted by: Tessou May 21 2014, 11:29 AM |
Welcome to the mess that is the Fifth Stage production. They've bungled many episodes with random crap like this. Sloppy/lazy editing, reusing scenes (I saw Takumi and Shinji emerge from the same corner twice with the exact same angle and background), bad music choice, bad placement of music tracks, etc. My love of Initial D is the only thing that really keeps me watching. I need to see it end and die for good. |
Posted by: initialdfcfd May 21 2014, 12:11 PM
I remeber seeing that alot in first stage. I can't believe almost 20yrs later and they are going back to doing this. In my opinion they should have just kept the same animation style from 4th stage. |
Posted by: knite May 21 2014, 12:48 PM
Yeah, I used the term smoothly, but smoother would probably be more appropriate. If I'm really focusing on it I can still see some slight choppiness, but imo it's nothing to complain about, especially in a raw. I was just glad it wasn't disruptive like it was in vlc. |

Anyone try reencoding the available raws with some interpolation (something like this) or running SVP? Not sure if that stuff would work in this case, but figured I'd ask as I don't want to muck up my setup (LAV, madVR, XySF, ReClock, etc.) to install SVP if it's not going help to smooth the video. I'm grateful for xjapan or whoever released the raw, and damn it I need more Initial D, but with their quality I just can't watch them. Well, unless they were subbed then it wouldn't matter how well the encode was. |
Posted by: BOZZ May 21 2014, 03:55 PM
Yeah, but I would assume if it was something extremely popular and Initial D seems to be a bit of a niche series. |
Posted by: Juke May 21 2014, 03:57 PM
This depends on the situation. For example, if a big movie is coming out and some scenes have to have cars in them, car manufacturers will pay the production company to have their models put in the scenes. That movie can use any type of cars, so car companies have to compete for that advertising. Initial D is different because the cars were added on purpose, so they have to ask every time if they can use the car companies' badges. |

If I were home I could help with that experiment, but I'm not--I'm on the other side of the country from my powerful desktop on a netbook. It plays HD files just fine thanks to its graphics chip, but running SV is out of its league. It's a netbook from 2009, after all. So all I can say is that the original source is the cause of the choppy video, not anyone's computer. And, again...that is either because the TS was converted to MP4 improperly (likely) or the process of breaking the encryption to TS left it as an artifact (possible). |

You should be thankful that you can watch it free. People release the source and you can have the first view out of Animax PPV TV. If still keep complaining, please go order a copy from amazon like some other did. People nowadays do not know how to appreciate other's goodwill. *this is my point of view. If you want to be another keyboard warrior, please do so.* |
Posted by: Nomake Wan May 21 2014, 09:01 PM
Smooth Video. It's a feature built into the current version of MadVR which allows the software to interpolate frames up to 60FPS (your monitor refresh rate, in most cases). There are plenty of other ways to achieve a similar (or better) effect using scripts that actually re-encode the stream, but SV can do it on the fly (and as far as I've seen, hasn't caused any motion artifacts or 'soap opera effect' on any of my videos).
While I cannot speak for Kyonpalm's experience with video encoding technologies, I do have significant experience and so when I say that the video is choppy, guess what? It's choppy. Don't like people complaining? Upload higher-quality content. Orrrr just acknowledge that this isn't a perfect rip and ignore the complainers altogether. I mean, a rip is a rip, right? It's better than nothing, right? People still get to watch it, right? The one thing I want you to take away from this, however, is that giving people a chance to see something they otherwise wouldn't is not an excuse to expect people to suck up to you for sub-par quality. We thank you for providing the content, but we're still going to point out the flaws if they exist. That's all there is to it. |
Posted by: -=SHINN=- May 21 2014, 09:20 PM |
Actually among our asian friends even in Facebook and ID community and even among our fellow Japan D5-D7 friendly players. Justxsong gotten the rip of the 1st and 2nd episode the earliest and took the effort to even upload it. You may say there's no sub, but couldn't you blame yourself for not learning Japanese language? You may complain the quality sucks and all, but did you took the effort to upload it first hand and the earliest to share to everyone? No? Then why complain when you couldn't do any contribution? Right? We all know very well that uploaded video of the 1st and 2nd episode wouldn't have high expectations. There weren't anyone from Facebook who even complained on not having sub to the uploader this and that. What I'm trying to say is, try to be grateful you even get a suck or rip quality. Share to you, you complain, don't share to you, you also complain. What you guys do while he were trying his best to get the episode uploaded? Nothing. [ Post made via Mobile Device ] |

For one, I do know Japanese, but I'll just go ahead and assume you were referring to the nonexistent people here who were 'begging for subs'. In fact, asking for subs is a warnable offense which carries a punishment of a post restriction, so normally these forums are pretty good about that. Those who break this rule are punished, simple as that. For another, if I had the means to do this you're god damn right I would have gotten to it first and you had better freaking believe it would've been high quality. When it comes to video, I know what the hell I'm doing. Unless some sort of signal obfuscation is the cause of this framerate error-like choppiness, then there's no way something like this would've made it out from my computer. However, as I do not live in Japan I do not have the means. I can only say that if you think I wouldn't if I could, you should probably check my accounts on Nyaa or E-H to see just how much of my own paid content I've provided to the world for the low-low cost of free. I don't expect people to suck my dick for that, I simply want to share. And you know what? If I screw something up, I expect someone to tell me so that I can fix it. I'm most certainly not going to whine and threaten to delete everything, that's for damn sure. You can brown-nose all you want, but it's counter-productive. How is anything going to improve if no one speaks up about the problem?
'Obviously'? Why is that? Do you know something we don't about the original source? As I do encoding and video conversion all the time, I'm incredibly curious as to why you say it's 'obviously' going to be choppy. As for your 'if you don't like it don't watch it' nonsense, that's a cop-out. How would we know without watching it what it would be? It's not unwatchable, it just has problems, problems which are worth bringing to your attention (so that they may be brought to the attention of your 'friend') in order to correct said problems. Now then, carry on. |

Can we just stay focused on the fact we have an episode at all. Personally I watched both via the stream with no issues. Thanks anyone who put the effort to get raws out in whatever quality they are, and thanks to those who are willing to put out their hard earned money to buy the DVDs, rip them, and post them. The Initial D community is very small, so lets come together in our enjoyment of a rust bucket beating expensive cars.... or in this case rust bucket vs rust bucket. |

Really? I don't need to live there to get access to their PPV channel? Now that I will freely admit I was not aware. Anyone in the thread living in Japan care to chime in on this? How does one access your PPV TV from outside the country? If I had access to the channel then yeah, absolutely I'd have gotten this done for you. In fact if it turns out I'm wrong and I can access Japanese PPV somehow, then I apologize profusely for not being first to the plate.
You may not consider it nice, but if your friend cannot take criticism then he'll never improve. Since you say he wants to try to do it right, would he like some help? I'm not saying I want the TS, but I'd be more than happy to look at his conversion method and offer suggestions on how it could be done better. In closing...I'd like to just point out clearly that neither you nor I have provided any content, so in that aspect we stand on even footing. Lemme know how that conversation with your friend goes, okay? |

I had the same idea while reading the manga (which i never finished). Did Bunta/Takumi ever mention their wife/mother? I don't seem to recall any shrine either if she is deceased. Shinji could be Takumi's little brother. Their parents were racing nuts who disagreed ... begin Initial D.. |
Posted by: Bunta_GC8V May 22 2014, 08:47 AM |
So... that means Bunta was a rally driver? lol |
Posted by: Tessou May 22 2014, 08:58 AM |
That's the problem with Bunta: we don't know much of anything about him aside from the fact that he used to race, was and still is very competent, bought an AE86 at some point which may or may not be the same one from the flashbacks in these episodes, and knew Keiichi Tsuchiya (in the anime). If the last one holds true, then there's a shred of possibility that Bunta is Shinji's father. A lot of things stack up in favor of this as a coincidence, but there's nothing definitive to seal it as factual. How old is Shinji's mom anyway? Does it align with Bunta's age? |

Right on maybe someone else can try it out. Also I tried madVR's Smooth Motion option but I didn't notice a difference. It's still suffers from the same stuttering when the camera pans. Only reason I mentioned SVP, which does both interpolation and blending, opposed to madVR which only does blending, is because someone mentioned the issue with the current raws was their low frame rate. Apparently SVP made a world of difference for people watching Sidonia no Kishi who couldn't stand the low fps CG scenes. Some people also used their TVs hardware (TruMotion, Motionflow, etc). Anyway just to reiterate to justxsongs (and indirectly to anyone else sharing a similar sentiment), nobody here including myself is ungrateful or unappreciative to you or your friend (TV-Japan, xjapan, whoever he is) for providing these raws, putting them on youtube and elsewhere, etc., regardless of their quality. I hope he continues to do so, and so do the thousands of others who downloaded the raws but haven't commented here, nyaa, or elsewhere. He's the only person out of 7 billion to share these episodes for free, which is pretty damn cool in itself, and he's all we got right now. |

Posted by: ehbiwtf May 22 2014, 06:02 PM |
If there were another source it would eventually show up on nyaa. Even if there were direct-downloads or torrents available on a "closed" community or tracker, it would only take a few hours to a day for them to leak to the public. I check the chans, usenet, and tokyotosho regularly; TV-Japan's (#tv-japan@irc.rizon.net) is the only source afaik. Only one I'm not positive of is Ep2. It has the same sort of stuttering and quality as the first episode so I'd say it's from the same guy, but w/e man this is stupid to argue over. lol |

Thank you for the hard work, Mad and Meteor !!! I took a look and the translation is very good. (Direct Downloads) »»» Japanese Audio w/ English Subtitles (MKV format)
»»» English Subtitles Only (Soft Sub *.srt)
For those of you who don't want to download a huge file again, simply load the *.srt file in as a subtitle file with VLC player using the raw file. The subtitle will automatically appear. |

Posted by: isaychris May 25 2014, 11:19 PM |
Thanks Mad, Meteor, and Perry! is there any quality differences between the .mkv and .mp4 files? |
Posted by: Perry May 25 2014, 11:26 PM
MP4 is a re-encode, whereas MKV is simply a container that contains the original MP4 video file with the soft subtitle file. Imagine MKV as a shell that contains the original file and adds a subtitle layer on top of it. So there shouldn't be any quality difference between the original raw file and this MKV file because they are literally identical. Now, if we are talking about re-encoding it to a mp4 with hard subtitles, then the quality deteriorate quite a bit, but the filesize is usually substantially smaller. |

Why no seeders for the torrent?! |
Posted by: Perry May 25 2014, 11:31 PM
Don't bother with the torrent if there are no more seeders. Use the direct download links. (Direct Downloads)
|
Posted by: Izento May 25 2014, 11:32 PM |
Nevermind. The general Kamigami torrent works on the bay. Torrents are quite a bit faster for those not wishing to purchase the premium membership of these DL websites. Of course, it's only faster if people seed. |

Mmm.. Mega is a free host, but it's pretty picky on what browser you use. Google Chrome seems to be the only one that has no problem with it. |

Hi guys. Can anyone tell me how to make the subs work? I downloaded the 1st episode from the Torrent,i made a note file and copied all the subs into the file, then (i guess) made it into the .srt format. I went into Windows Media Player, right clicked and made the subs available when possible. But i still don't got subs. Is it something in the names? I named the subs file "[Tv-Japan] Intial D (Final Stage) - 01 (1280x720 x264 AAC).srt" just like the episode, but it still doesn't work. I'm not big on subs, since i usually watch english sounded stuff,so ya... |
Posted by: Izento May 25 2014, 11:42 PM
When you create the srt file, there is a drop box below the file name box and save as type box entitled "Encoding". Set that to UTF-8. Enjoy. |
Posted by: Perry May 26 2014, 12:04 AM
We recommend using VLC media player. I am not sure if Windows Media Player would work perfectly with *.SRT soft subs... |
Posted by: Stliqn007 May 26 2014, 12:10 AM
well i tried that,but..still didnt work. I guess ill make an exception and put VLC,even tho ill never use it after the Final Stage |

"Lulz uploadin mai bytez0rz" said the user that used filedropper for the episode upload. The massive lag is killing this leech of a lurker. |
Posted by: Amon81 May 26 2014, 12:48 AM |
Thanks a lot for this! I got the srt and works perfect with the video I got a couple of days ago. The simple way to get srt's to work with Media player classic (K-lite mega codec pack) all you need to do is rename the srt to the same as the video file and it auto displays the sub. Also filedropper works for me in firefox, its just slow. Plus as I'm not going to pay for it its limited to 35kbs download speed. |

No, I'm saying there isn't much "hachiroku action", or much action to speak of, in either of these episodes. There's some racing in the second, but you're in for a disappointment if you think it's going to be amazing or that it will make up for the lack of excitement in the first episode. |

Posted by: Bardock May 26 2014, 11:57 AM
|
Posted by: Perry May 26 2014, 11:58 AM
One thing to note with this method is that YouTube re-encode the original raw file and possibly added some duplicate / in-between frames to make the video flow more smoothly. The quality does suffer a bit. If you are okay with 480p standard definition, then by all means and do that! |
Posted by: Mad David May 26 2014, 12:01 PM |
Streams of the subbed version are already available on animeplus.tv. They are barely readable though. The youtube version stutters as much as the raw for me. |
Posted by: Nomake Wan May 26 2014, 01:26 PM
This. The youtube uploader likely allowed youtube to do its crazy interpolation on the frames because it warned them during the upload that the source file was choppy. It doesn't work very well for live stuff (I always disable it on my videos), but I guess it works for Anime..? So, yet again, frame interpolation. It's a thing. |
