Edit: Dubbed. [ Post made via Mobile Device ] This post has been edited by Miura Seri on Dec 2 2013, 10:17 PM |

I wonder why it's dubbed at U.S. showings but it seems to be subtitled with Japanese up here in Canada.

Well the first Eva Rebuild movie I saw in the theatre here in Canada was in english as well, so it has to be selected locations.

I got mine a week or two ago. Pretty pissed about the whole dub thing. At least Aniplex had the sensibility to not subject us to their shitty dub with Madoka and (presumably) Ano Hana (in the near future).

They didn't do a terrible job of it so if it was at my local theater I'd watch it. Too bad its all the way in LA and I don't have the time or money to get out there to see it. Anyway a whole bunch of people I know say to wait for the fourth movie to come out then watch both at the same time. That's my plan. [ Post made via Mobile Device ] |

Just wow... I really liked the movies and can't wait until they finally release the last one... |

Everything that was in the end of 2.22 was missing from 3.33. They were totally unrelated and I'm not sure how 4 is going to reconcile that. |

I haven't seen the third one yet, but I really liked the first two. The thing that's been keeping me on the fence from getting Eva Rebuild 3, is lack of Rei in the trailers... although Asuka's new look does seem highly appealing. Will check it out soon as I'm done watching Kill la Kill... still haven't finished that since I started watching it last December, lol. |

Maybe that explains why it was such hot garbage. I mean, as a standalone film, it was a fun watch..but it was hot garbage. It conveniently ignored every single thing at the end of 2.22 (post-credits scene) and did its own thing then just kinda went off the rails. The only thing that can save 3.33 from itself is the final film, so I truly, honestly hope that he takes as much time as he needs to get it right.

It wasn't bad. It wasn't even bad in the context of the other films because the jarring shift the story takes throws the viewer into total confusion and thus helps them identify with Shinji more. People saying 3.0 was bad are either blind to this fact or memeing hard. Besides, complaining about an Evangelion story going off the rails is almost as laughable as complaining about a Bobobo-bo Bo-bobo arc jumping the shark. I'm anxiously waiting to see what 3.0+1.0 has in store.

Manly News Host Group: Members Posts: 49 Member No.: 32,046 Joined: Mar 4th 2009 Location: Clock Up Space | It's not even the fact it doesn't make sense that it's bad. It's the fact that it goes no where even after all the build up it does and more or less ends with "Watch the 4th" is why I found it bad. It can be a good movie, but as an entry in what's supposed to be a grander story it contributes basically zero other than a new setting for the franchise. I want the Eva movies to go away because they take up slots in SRW games and contribute goddamn nothing every fucking time because of they continuously end with "nothing actually happens". |

Nope. Still disagree. The sole fact I pointed out in my original post is enough to make up for whatever other minor pitfalls the script/directing had.

This is giving the direction free reign to do whatever the fuck they want and then when people point out flaws they can just go, "Well that was intentional because Shinji and Evangelion, deal with it." If that is literally the cop-out you want to go with, then by all means. However, taking the original into account--including Death, Rebirth and EoE--the original actually had a resolution. It was a very complex and convoluted one, to be sure--the TV series goes on from Shinji's perspective, the movies go from the world's perspective--but it did actually conclude and follow itself throughout. The Rebirth movies appeared to be doing that up to 2.22, though they had the excuse that for the most part they were following a script that had already been laid out for them in 1995. While they made changes--some huge--to the original story, there was still the framework of the original series keeping the narrative together. The preview at the end of 2.22 showed us that 3.33 would finally step completely into uncharted territory... ...and then decided to ignore every single thing there and just play its own game. All right, fine. If you want to do that, that's cool, but it means that nothing's holding your film together anymore. It's sitting in a puddle all its own, waiting for something to erode the edges and connect it back to the rest. With luck, 3.0+1.0 will do just that and then any complaint I have about 3.33 would be nullified thanks to new evidence. Or, 3.0+1.0 can do the same thing 3.33 did all over again, in which case both films would simply be standalone fanwanks that Evageeks will overanalyze for years to come because depth whereas the rest of us will simply shake our heads and move on. Yosuke really hit it on the head, however, which was a big part of why I didn't bother replying after I got home from class yesterday. That all said, we can at least agree on one thing: we're both anxiously awaiting to see what 3.0+1.0 has in store.

I hope that whenever the 4th movie comes out that it is leaps and bounds better than the third one. |
