More so with Firefox.

It's started like a week or two ago. Lately whenever I load up firefox on my laptop it freezes/lags the screen. And lately it's become to the point where I have to just power off the laptop and do it all over again. Was doing a little quick reading and searches after I got a BSOD for "Driver power state failure" but after looking at the windows updates everything is up to date. And a little further reading about clearing the cache (which I did) or mcafee or a few other items being the culprit of the random freezing and what not.

I just installed Chrome and so far no lagging or freezing.

But I was wondering, is there any way to try to fix this from you more advanced tech gods? Or should I try to uninstall and reinstall firefox?

Unfortunately without more details I can't really help. To assist, perhaps you could download and run this tool:

http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/blue_screen_view.html

To see if you can track down exactly what DLL was causing that BSOD you experienced. Sadly 'my screen froze' is so generic that there's really no way for someone to tell whether that's a graphics failure, an I/O failure (hard drive), a RAM failure or a CPU/motherboard failure because all of those things can cause the system to become completely unresponsive.

To that end, I highly recommend burning a copy of Memtest86+ and letting it run for at least two cycles to rule out RAM corruption as a culprit. Get it here: http://www.memtest.org/#downiso

While it's in this unresponsive state, if you press the numlock or capslock buttons, do the lights on your laptop change to say that they're on/off? Can you still use keyboard commands? Can you press the power button once and get it to respond, or do you have to hold the button down?

Firefox in and of itself isn't causing your system to become unresponsive. It may, however, be doing something in particular that is exposing a problem with your system itself. So let's start with the assumption that your computer has a problem rather than Firefox has a problem.

Okay, slowly getting the hang of this.

The report from today's crash. Sent ya a pm to help me out with the second link you mentioned.

Don't send PMs when asking for public help in the future. The whole point is not only to be able to help you more effectively, but also to be able to help others who may stumble onto this thread. Not to mention it's SUPER annoying to get a PM, reply to a PM, and then find out there's a post on the same thing you have to reply to.

Stick to putting your questions right here. I'll have a look at your send space link in a bit.

No idea if this was resolved or not. What's the status? Resolved or still need help?

I probably forgot about it. It's probably still unresolved unless he bought new hardware in the meantime.

If he's still on the old hardware I'd like to use TeamViewer to get on his machine and try some stuff.
