Until there's a game on the PS4 that I can't play on the PS3, along with a PS4 price cut, there is absolutely no need for me to get a PS4 quite yet.

My TV"s black, my speakers are black, my desk is black, I'm making that shit match if it kills me. Having my white 360 sitting there until I switched to the PS4 looked pretty bloody weird.

Funny thing is a buddy of mine was saying the same thing about if he gets a PS4 it has to match the rest of his setup...

I want one of the dev Xbox One consoles. They are beautiful.

What's so special about them?

They have a special stamp on them and the Xbox logo glows blue.

I don't actually have a PS4, but was considering getting a controller, since PS3 supports PS4 ones now.

For the love of god, no. The PS3 controller's way better. It's still no 360 controller, but dear god the one thing I hate about the PS4 is that goddamn controller.

I actually really like the PS4 controller, myself.

Bungie is allowing players to activate redeemed codes now. If you picked up collector cards at any point in the past two years, you can see what they do now. I picked up quite a few special emblems for my long tenure with Bungie.

I read that apparently if you buy the PS3 or X-Box 360 you get a free copy of the game for the PS4 (I am assuming if you buy the PS3 version only) or X-Box One (if you buy the X-Box 360 version).

If you upgrade to the newer system by January 15 and have a digital copy of Destiny for the older system, Bungie will give you a spare license and let you download the digital copy of the game for free.

They also confirmed that you can indeed swap between console generations since your character data is on a shared server. Still no cross-gen play, but it's nice that I can still play the 360 version after getting the XBONE version later on if the need arises.

Glad they're letting me wait until Christmas to upgrade.

It's digital only, because how else can they know you own the game? Bungie does not keep tabs on who owns each particular disc. A digital purchase means you own a license to that game.

True, it'd be nice if it was possible though since I'd like to get Destiny and want to get a PS4 down the line... but unfortunately I'm close to my bandwidth cap for the month.

Last gen digital size is reported as around 8gb. Microsoft recommends at least a 20GB of hard drive space. Download time is going to be a bitch, though, considering the game won't hit the 360 marketplace until 2am tomorrow morning (midnight PST) and Live is going to be jam packed with traffic.

Next gen size is... I dunno. MS recommends 40GB of space set aside, though.

There is a day one patch in the works, as well as an initial compatibility download that's about 140MB.

Players on the other side of the planet got their games already, and the servers are live. I haven't noticed any server problems so far in the streams I've been watching. Shit looks smooth as butter. Venus is horrifying once the Vex Minotaurs make their debut. They can withstand an immense amount of punishment, have very powerful shields on top of their base armor, and can easily one-shot you while teleporting all over the place to close the distance. Did I mention they're gigantic?

Thanks to JB Hi-Fi cocking up with my preorder, I didn't get it yesterday and have no tracking info to tell me if it's coming today. If it doesn't, I may just have to kill someone. Preordering well in advance and not being able to pick it up from the store is bollocks if you don't get it on launch day.

I'd pick up two copies tomorrow but my own 360 still has a borked disk drive that I neglected to fix on time, so I have to wait hours and hours and hours to get the digital version. Ceci gets her physical copy as soon as GS opens tomorrow morning. We're working tonight so there is no way in hell we'll make the midnight release.
